Gaming Nintendo Switch

Cool thanks. What about my sneaky edit above?

Personally I just use the joycon controllers separate as they are. For Zelda, Mario, Splatoon I find them way above the pro controller, Mario Kart too. The only extras I've bothered with so far are another set of joycons (so we can play 4-player MK mainly, which surprisingly works extremely well even with those tiny controllers, in fact it adds a bit of extra skill ) and a screen protector.

BTW you can buy a little attachment that lets you use a PS4/Xbone controller too, but I've not tried it myself. I'm happy with the joycons.

I don’t ever play mine on the tv even at home. In fact currently the dock is in the box in my loft.

I took down Ruta and most recently New Donky City whilst on the crapper.

Memories man, memories.

Both Zelda and Mario I do, because I much prefer dual joycon controls for those. But it doesn't really matter, that's the real genius of this thing.

Yeah sometimes in bed I prop the thing up and play with the dual controls, it’s so comfortable to lie there and just have your hands wherever. Might play them through again once my living situation is sorted on the tv for the big experience.

If the games keep coming this could easily be my favourite console ever. I already have a huge backlog.

That attachment sounds interesting. I have a pro controller for the Wii U which beats the shit out of the tablet. I'd probably want one for the Switch but I think it's something ridiculous like £60. If I could just use my DS4 that would be sweet. Or if I could make do with the standard controllers that come with it even better.

I wonder how much I could get for my Wii U, games and pro controller. I also have an unopened copy of The Wonderful 101.

I still want one of these badboys but I feel like I shouldn't spend this amount of money on a console when I very rarely play video games, maybe a couple of hours every other week. So instead of throwing money after it I've done what any reasonable 27-year-old would do and stuck it on my wish list for Christmas. I'm secretly hoping I'd be gaming a bit more if I had the Switch since my girlfriend might find it interesting as well.

I'm 28 and my GF'S (also 28) only gaming experiences have been farmville, candy crush, angry birds etc.

She absolutely LOVES the Switch - we play Mario Kart and Overcooked together, two amazing multiplayer games.

The best bit is, you csn play in the living room whilst she watches the soaps etc. Spending time together AND getting your gaming fix, the future.

Why don't you sell one and the Wii u? Then buy a switch.

Sorry I meant why don't you sell the PS4 and Wii U.

I like having coverage on the exclusives. Though I often drop one for a month or so, a lot of that is on first party.

Plus, I have friends on both for a couple of third parties like fifa and cod. I gameshare on both consoles so i can get the same game on both for the price most pay for one.

Yes I was thinking she might like Mario Kart. Earlier I've had her try out The Last of Us but she was embarrassingly bad at controlling both the character and the aim/camera at the same time. So she ended up spending a few hours on Final Fantasy IX instead.

On the same boat, my fiance did occasionally play some PS3 titles with me - mainly LBP Karting and she did play Forza Horizon but most of the time she stayed away from the consoles and complained when I bought games. With Switch (and all Nintendo consoles to be fair) she not only doesn't moan about me gaming, she actually plays a handful of games herself. She's in love with Mario and Rabbids but we just haven't had the time to play it enough.

It's complimented my PS4 very well, absolutely. I think a PS4/Xbox combo would be too same-y.

Ended up splashing out on one 2 hours ago. What a fantastic piece of technology it is early doors

Zelda is absolutely beautiful.

I think the only must have accessory is the pro-controller.

I mostly play in handheld, but the pro-controller is much better than the joy-cons (when big screening it up). They're nice, but compromises both in no proper D-pad and the sticks being meh. Understandable, and they're still fine. The pro-controller might jst be the straight up best controller, though. Better than the joy-cons, PS4 and Xbox One controllers, can't say how the Xbox One Elite controller compares, which is supposed to be amazing too.

I’ve gone from being underwhelmed to thinking mario might even rival botw for one of the all time greats.

I’m on last boss now but won’t get to complete it till tomorrow god dammit

Is anyone going for every moon and how many moons did youse get when you reached final stage?

I've never really been into Nintendo before (never had one as a kid, grew up with a Playstation) but I'm seriously tempted to get this for Zelda and Mario. Does it have any other (upcoming) killer games so far? I like most stuff, but I have a soft spot of JRPG type games which have sadly more or less disappeared compared to the PS2 era.

Maybe not a "killer", but Octopath Traveller looks to be a mighty, classic JRPG.

Stupid question, but have you tried properly resetting the console? It's reall an easy thing to miss. Hold the power button down for a while until it actually shuts down, then wait a bit and turn it back on. I had an issue like this a while ago and that sorted it.

Thanks, good plan. It’s the sort of thing that typically and unexpectedly fixes things. I’ll try that in the morning.

Played it on PS3, PS4 and PC, think I'll skip.

I might have considered Oblivion as it's a better game IMO.
Same, and agree with all.

Oblivion might be my favourite game of all time. That Soule soundtrack is outstanding. His best work, IMO.

To be fair Skyrim on the go sounds great.

But I bought about three different versions now. So I won't bother with it.

I've never played it, so I might get it when it's cheaper. Depends how low it goes really considering I could get the 360 version for about two quid.

Any particular moments that turned you around?
To be honest I often take a day or two to really get into a game. So I was silly to post my initial reports

I suppose from the off I compared it with botw which instantly amazed me. Mario I don’t think starts as impressively as Zelda and that’s probably where my initial disappointment came from

But I’ve basically been engrossed in the game since last Monday and each world seems to get better. Don’t want to post spoilers but so many bits I could post that have been brilliant

Mario finally getting his just reward after a long hard journey.

I might be getting Skyrim but I think they should have priced all these remakes lower and it would almost guarantee good sales. Paying full price for Skyrim or Doom is not a great idea when you can get the same game for PS4 for no more than a third of the price of Switch version. Portability has its advantages of course but a lot of people won't really be that bothered by it.

Skyrim, LA Noire and Doom should all be $30. Also, LA Noire should not require 29GB of SD card, I have one but even with it it's still hard to fit both this and 2K18.
