Gaming Nintendo Switch

The pro is a home console and was specifically to flog more 4k tvs.

I'm just saying ;)
Yeah but the pro is basically just a more expensive PS4 so it has all of the games anyway? Like you don't need to buy one, it's an optional luxury. I don't see how it's the same as a new console that might struggle to get enough good games to play. I do get what you're saying though.

One thing Zelda and Mario have done really well for me is actually wanting to explore and find everything. In most games i'd just move on after getting enough of whatever, but I actually enjoy going round looking for everything in these

You are just making excuses. You say Sony are safe, yet I've pointed out they really aren't. So you move the goal posts.

You know what you have to do, you know it makes sense, but like a Trumper in the face of all adversary you still cling on to the pitiful hope you are somehow right and it will all make sense...

...but it doesn't. The switch is calling, the switch has the two best games released this year, possibly the two best game released this generation, perhaps two of the best games of all time. Can you turn that down? I don't know. Should you go out right now and get one? I don't know that either.

And yet there's that nagging voice inside your head that tells you...You know you should get one right now. You know what's right. Mario is your friend and Mario will always lead the way.

You're why I can't have nice things.

That's one of the things I can't get on with. I finished the main game, then decided to go on a collectathon, and after about 20-25 minutes I just couldn't be arsed with it.

Roll on Doom, or something I suppose...

Yep. Only non-nintendo game recently that has compelled me the same way is Dark Souls.

Just fecked off from the Ubisoft tower climbing open world games where there's 9000000 square miles to explore and a million things to do on the map, yet it still feels dull and formulaic.

Anyone play splatoon? Bought it on release but only just getting into it now.

Any tips for hitting rank 10 ASAP?

Stick to the standard gun and strafe shoot to cover more ground with less ink. Remember it's about coverage rather than kills, though also keep in mind that getting the drop on an enemy takes them out of the game for a while. Don't forget your specials and bombs too.

Another huge tip overlooked is I don't tend to super jump from spawn, since often an enemy has got near your base, so check your map as you are spawning for signs of that and go cover it. You'll be surprised how many games are lost because one sneaky fecker has got round the back.

So, is now the time to pick up one of these? I already own a PS4 but have money to burn. Mario Odyssey and Zelda look like epic games. Throw in Mario Kart and it seems completely worth it.

Im not really arsed with any other switch games, They are the only 3 game I was interested in and based on them alone it is still very much worth the purchase

You might want to check out Mario Rabbids Kingdom Battle, it's ace.

Yeah man, with Mario/Rabbids, splatoon, arms and a shitload of great indies there's plenty to be getting on with.

Cheers guys. Think I’ll pick one up today with Zelda and Mario

As much as I love my PS4, it’ll be nice to have console like the switch around. It offers a completely different experience, as opposed to owning an Xbox and PlayStation.

I got a Switch a few months back but recently it has stopped projecting onto the TV. I’ve tried multiple TVs and the HDMI cable works on other things so I assume the dock is the issue. It didn’t take any damage or anything.

Silly question but who do I flag this up to? Nintendo themselves or the retailer (Tesco)?

It's complimented my PS4 very well, absolutely. I think a PS4/Xbox combo would be too same-y.

I’m gonna end up getting a PS4 again too, the switch and that combo definitely covers you across all types of gaming.

Retailer I reckon.

Yeah they are to be honest, not a great combo. I typically go a month or so of not touching one or the other.

I still want one of these badboys but I feel like I shouldn't spend this amount of money on a console when I very rarely play video games, maybe a couple of hours every other week. So instead of throwing money after it I've done what any reasonable 27-year-old would do and stuck it on my wish list for Christmas. I'm secretly hoping I'd be gaming a bit more if I had the Switch since my girlfriend might find it interesting as well.

Why don't you sell one and the Wii u? Then buy a switch.

Sorry I meant why don't you sell the PS4 and Wii U.

If you already have a Wii U, Zelda, Splatoon and Mario Kart and you don't like handheld gaming, is there anything to justify getting one to use as a home console?

yes, the Wii-U for me was a chore to use. I disliked the experience very much.

And if you have a switch there is no chance you will exclusively use it docked

Trade in the wiiU and get a switch

It's not really like handheld gaming tbh mate. Not in the sense of watered down games and poor screens/controls anyway. You will definitely end up using it in that mode more, trust me on that.

As for the home console bit, of course, the games. Both Mario and Zelda are head and shoulders above all else released this year and the first year library is ridiculous. Plus, if you already have a PS4/XBone/PC then it's absolutely perfect as the 2nd machine as it's completely different to them.

There is no scenario in which I can see myself using a handheld console. My commute is less than 10 minutes.

Thank you. I’ve heard that this fault is quite common among early Switch consoles that were rushed out to fulfill orders.

Stupid question, but have you tried properly resetting the console? It's reall an easy thing to miss. Hold the power button down for a while until it actually shuts down, then wait a bit and turn it back on. I had an issue like this a while ago and that sorted it.

Hmmm. Now I'm tempted. How much better does Zelda perform on the Switch? On the Wii U it's fine a lot of the time but certain areas bring the frame rate down massively.

EDIT oh, and what peripherals are essential for playing at home?

Much better. Since the patches there's very little slowdown at all, certainly not like in the original videos about it.

Plus two handing the controllers works far better than the WiiU screen. Mario Kart and Splatoon 2 are far better than the WiiU equivalents btw, especially MK8, it took a little bit of time readjusting to the tracks at a proper 60fps I can tell you

And I can't stress enough how it's not like traditional handheld gaming. My mrs plays her PS4 all the time and it's absolutely no sweat just to switch to handheld mode, the screen/controls/graphics all just stay the same and as @Randall Flagg says above, S&S (switching and shitting) is the future man.

Cool thanks. What about my sneaky edit above?
