Gaming Nintendo Switch

Was considering buying the game but they can get fecked @ €40 purely on principal.

Hopefully it will go on sale late in the year.i rarely moan at prices of games, but Tetris should not be that much

Why not just buy on the PS4? It cost me £18 with Amazon prime. It's only on the switch where it's overpriced.

Finally got one and the dock thing doesn't work - tried the troubleshoot and everything works except that. Need to take it back tomorrow...

Playing on the small screen, I can't seem to find any demos in the eshop - where do I get to them?

Go to the page of whatever game, and if there's a demo available the option will be there.

Loving mario kart, I've played most iterations but never had a wii u. I think this is the first time I've ever owned a mario kart myself other than one on virtual console maybe on the wii

Had a tournament with my kids and was soundly beaten

I'm not sure how I feel about it.

What do old lions do when their young become stronger?

My son beat me on battle mode. I nearly strangled the mouthy little rat!

I'm so glad they brought proper battle arenas back, it's totally worth it just for them alone. Also I can't get enough of how smooth it runs, even in 4-player split screen. 150cc feels so much faster, screw trying 200 for a while!

Screw all you guys creaming yourselves over this.
I'm not even that much of a gamer anymore but you've all made me want to buy this thing.

So I caved and picked one up over the weekend with Zelda and MK8, absolutely loving it so far.

Just wondering if there were any other decent games to pick up now? I tried the Puyo Puyo tetris demo which was fun but £40 for what seems like a polished smart phone game does take the piss a little, am I missing something?

The pickings are a bit slim in the short term (though I will probably pick up Ultra Street Fighter which is out soon), but the Switch has got me sorted in terms of gaming for the next year. Zelda is vast and Mario Kart is great multi player.

I don't have a huge amount of time to play games, so your requirements my differ, but between Zelda, Mario Kart, Splatoon, Xenoblade Chronicles, Skyrim (old game, but insane you will be able to play it handheld) and Mario Odyssey (all coming out 2017) there is just a ton of value there and hours and hours of gameplay, more than enough to meet my requirements.

I'm falling in love with Nintendo again. The console just feels 'right'.

Insanely impressed by the Switch. We owned a Wii, but passed on the Wii U. I haven't been this impressed by gaming hardware in a long time. I travel relatively regularly so being able to use it on the go, but then connect it at home is just great.

We went for a hike on the weekend and I had it in back pack, in a quite moment broke out a game of 4 player Mario Kart on the go and it was a lot of fun. Then a bit of Just Dance (which the kids enjoy) to make a fool of ourselves. Just pure fun.

I think we have used it in connected mode about 30% and about 70% on the go so far.

My missus was going to pick one up for me to keep me amused in hospital but unfortunately none in stock. Dammit

Finally had Mario Kart delivered - although being pelted with shells when leading is infuriating, it's great fun and I can't wait to play it with a room full of people, having had a few drinks.

I know Mario Kart and Zelda are both on the WiiU but being able to play them on the go as well as docked is really impressive - such a great piece of kit.

And to think some people thought it would be £200 and continue to complain because it's too expensive...laughable really.

 Yeah, those shells are a pain.

They've re-balanced some areas, you get hit a lot more with blue shells and those really annoying squid inks (which are also more intrusive), but the speed boosts like mushrooms and stars seem to give a bit extra. Also, it might just be my imagination, but the bikes seem a little more handy now too. The whole thing runs much faster and smoother now too, which is causing me and the missus to make silly mistakes in corners we used to ace

I'm thoroughly disappointed with MK. I played the Wii-U version enough to know all the tracks off by heart, and it's extremely disappointing to plug this Switch one in and have nothing to learn or do, really.

It feels like a lazy port (that they're charging full price for!) They surely could have done a lot, lot more with it than they have? Or are they planning to add some DLC tracks in the upcoming months? If you had the Wii-U MK8, and played it extensively enough to know it well, I can't see how this one can be anything but a letdown?

This was sort of known, though. Just a rehash of the original.

Honestly, I played it for about an hour - a cup and then the remainder of the time online, and apart from the dual weapon holder and the new weapons, it felt and played the same. I haven't messed with the battle modes, but I think that should be independent of the game proper. They should have messed with the tracks and turned lefts into rights etc, so that those who knew the Wii-U version inside out would essentially have a whole new game to learn. It has left me underwhelmed to know what I'm doing to such a degree with a new game. It doesn't feel new at all in that regard, more like a DLC add-on.

I didn't expect it to be the exact same game with a new coat of paint, though. Otherwise, I'd have avoided it. It's steep to pay £50 for a game you already own.

In their defence, it was always packaged as a port, which included the DLC and some tweaks - I managed to pick it up for £35, so not quite full price. Luckily I never got a Wii U, so it's all new to me but can see why some are disappointment,

If it's all new to you, then I can imagine it's a brilliant game and well worth the price you got it for (great deal, that) but, yeah, I'm a huge fan of the Wii-U version and played it a lot online, so am naturally accustomed to the tracks and nuances. It's annoying/disappointing in that sense that there's so little to learn from this one.

I'm going to give it another whirl later and I really hope I can come in here and say my initial impression was wrong.

Not having the to play it anymore on that turd of a console is worth the price alone

It's effectively a game of the year edition. These are always sold at full price

Just like last of us was when it was re released for PS4 etc...

My Wii U got stolen when I was moving :(

So people who have the switch on here, do you recommend it?

I want to get it, but I worry about the limited game library so far.

But any reviews appreciated :D

All I can review so far is the Switch itself and Zelda, both of which are great. Zelda is a must play

Yep. Also I paid £40 which isn't full price anyway.

There's plenty of feedback over the last few pages, but I'm loving it personally.

Just been playing the Blaster Master Zero demo... loving it! Physical release please!

I doubt it will. I bought it digitally on release as I loved the original :)

I own neither of them, but I am seriously considering buying the Wii U because of the vast library. I would buy the Switch in an instant if Nintendo could just pull their ass together with Virtual Console though.

There have been plenty of GOTY editions that have been sold at less than full price - it's also technically a last-gen game and can't be upgraded with DLC, so I'd argue it's more of a remaster.

And the Last of Us was sold slightly discounted on the PS4 - https://www.gamespot.com/articles/s...refund-difference-on-pre-orders/1100-6420656/

I don't expect Mario Kart to be a £10 downloadable game but IMO a £30 price point would be more fair.

I left my PS4 back home when I moved to Denmark and succumbing to my spot purchasing weakness I went to the store to buy this but they were out of stock. Nintendo is crazy with how limited they keep the supplies.
