Gaming Nintendo Switch

Yeah, considering your last post was calling it shit for not launching with Netflix, you'll forgive us for not giving a feck what you think!

Well it's a concern no matter how you gloss it over, the system would be perfect for Netflix and casual browsing on the go.

My iPad/phone have these things no doubt but the convenience of having it on the switch should be standard at this point.

It's what I love about Nintendo they add less and less basic features then fanboys like you defend them regardless. like I said have fun.

 Yeah, I was joking!

Having said that, if you own an iPad, why do you care what this does out of the box? And you do realise that Netflix are shit at software so it's likely their fault? You do also realise that of course the switch has a browser and it'll be out soon? You do realise of course that this is a game console and the primary function is playing games from day one?

As much as we kid and joke, it seems your negativity revolves around things this isn't primarily meant for. Things that this will no doubt do in a couple of updates. You know, like when your iPad (which can't play Zelda, ever) gets updated for new features?

I dont know I just feel it should have at least basic apps and a browser, if you're ok with not having them then fine it just feels standard these days. I think it would work great on the Switch too, watching a programme out in the go then arriving home to dock the console and resume on the TV could have been marketed pretty well.

Meh I don't know I want to like the Switch, I'm visiting Cuba for 3 weeks soon it would have been great to take but with just Zelda and Mario Kart on the horizon I can't justify it at the moment.

I'll see how it looks in a few months, Zelda is tempting as feck maybe I'll take the plunge with Splatoon and that boxing game.

My GameStop not doing a midnight launch, I just found out

So it gets me out of feeling like a pathetic loser buying a Nintendo in the middle of the night, queuing up with a bunch of geeky teens

And it will do those things. I know what you are saying tbf, but Netflix are shite at what they do, everyone knows that, and in this day and age every new hardware release takes time. iPads/phones and all that are based on the same old technology repackaged, this is a new gaming console with new technology, it's a bit much to call it shit for not doing secondary functions out of the box. But as I said, it's getting the features you want and pretty soon.

Again I do know where you are coming from, I remember when the PS3 took ages to play simple mp3s and all that, which was really annoying. It's probably worth your while waiting to see how the features you want work on it, though going by the hardware, I think you'll be happy eventually and maybe even take the plunge. But since you already own media devices, maybe wait to see what the games are actually like, then decide.

I don't care about Netflix and would never use it, but the concern is probably more their continued lack of ability to keep up with modern tech. The lack of online features at all is absolutely incredible, and it's disappointing that they still don't learn from their mistakes - yes they make amazing first-party games, but the lack of adoption for the Wii U hurt it and it's library and I'd hate for the same to happen again, because it's unlikely a sustainable way of business for them.

My main issue is no virtual console at launch

I'm pretty shocked they don't have anything at all. It should be one of their biggest selling points

Maybe they will do with MS are doing and have a similar style Netflix sub. Every NEs, SNES, N64 and GC game available

But that would make far too much sense

I'm pretty sure their doing something similar but like a shite version, one game per month and then after that month it disappears(Also I don't think that includes any N64 or GC games).

Anybody looking for one in the Manchester area Amazon Now has them in stock for delivery between 8-10am tomorrow.

That's kind of my point - that a lot of gamers don't buy many at all, which means the average of 6.2 doesn't reflect the 'norm'...more like 2 groups - some that have loads and others that have 1/2.

Well that reflects my experience.

The handful of 20+ game owners won't skew the figures that much.

Microsoft made a big thing of moving away from the 20 something male target audience with the Xbox One and all the multimedia features but they are still the main demographic. They are the ones who might buy 10 or 20 games and play for hours each day.

Nintendo has long been after the casual household who fires up the console once or twice a week, and plays the same two or three games over and over, probably with friends. They don't need a huge library for it to be a success. A handful of top drawer multiplayer or story games like Zelda and Mario Kart is enough.

Teens?

I'm guessing a lot of middle aged men will be queuing up for the Switch. I saw quite a few like you Randall at the GAME launch. So don't worry.

Any impressive bundle offers out there yet?

Have to admit, it feels absolutely bizarre to not be picking up a Nintendo console at launch. Apart from the Virtual Boy, this is the first time I'm not doing so, and part of me is still tempted to just say Fk it and buy this today.

I wasn't planning on getting one, but then my missus saw the Zelda vid (she's a Zelda nut too) and our joint enthusiasm broke my resolve.

Arf. I'm trying to work that angle with my other half, so that I have a reason to buy it that doesn't break my self-imposed rule of not getting it straight away myself.

She's not biting, though. Too much work on in the real world.

I've quite a few friends who've got theirs today, so I'm going to take myself to one of theirs and have a proper go of it there. I'm probably going to fold and buy one right away if I like it.

Shock Troopers is available on the eshop. That's one of the best Neo Geo games ever made.

So tempted to get this, especially as I just got a bonus today and the money is there. If it only had NBA 2K17 at launch I'd not think twice but I just cannot justify getting it with just 1 interesting game now. When Mario Kart is out and some multiplatform games get released I'll jump on it.

Not been following this but feeling a new Nintendo console for nostalgia's sake.

Any must buys besides the new Zelda game?

98/100 on Metacritic for Zelda on 58 reviews, this is unbelievable and easily a system seller.

Who am I kidding, this is mine in maximum 4 weeks so I may as well buy it now.

Might be worth getting a screen protector - http://www.glixel.com/news/youre-going-to-want-a-screen-protector-for-your-nintendo-switch-w470245
