Gaming Nintendo 3DS vs PS Vita thread.

The thing is, I'm silly and don't want to fall a week behind my friends on Animal Crossing :( haha! But I do want Animal Crossing as a download now instead of a physical game (kind of).

However, I won a £15 Voucher for eShop at a Monster Hunter event, so I'll just use that to get Animal Crossing as a £25 download instead of £28~ physical copy, then I'll most likely download something like Donkey Kong too for free.

The thing is, while I'm sure they're all fantastic, all three of FE, DK, and LC are games that I wouldn't go out and buy.. But when offered for free, it's still difficult to pick which I'd want most! Haha

Has anyone else played/is anyone else playing Persona 4 Golden? Its such an awesome game, and it just feels more natural on a vita than it did when I played it originally on ps2

Anyone interested in a 3DS XL, GAME are selling them for effectively £130 until 23rd May.

Use this Voucher Code: 3DSXLSAVE

Includes Red, Blue, and Silver Consoles only - along with the White Console w/ Mario 3D Land or Mario Kart 7 pre-installed (although these two are £200, so £160 after the code).

I've finally made the switch, bought a brand new blue XL for £103. I was one game away from claiming a free game from eShop because I didn't register Castlevania before I sold it so I decided to buy Lego City from the eShop - it turns out I have to link my console with Club Nintendo account 24 hours before making a purchase or else it doesn't count, so I'm still missing one game and I'm down £35 for a downloadable game that I won't ever be able to sell. I'll probably just buy Donkey Kong retail copy from a store tomorrow and have them e-mail me the PIN code, and download Fire Emblem. God knows when I'm going to find the time to play all of these.

I was thinking of playing this on PS2 at some point, but out of interest how much better is the Vita version? I really want to play the Persona series but it's going to niggle at me a bit if there's a much better version out there somewhere whilst doing so.

Thanks for the reminder to register my games. Not for the free game, just in case I ever manage to re-earn enough points again for something good.

You will get the free game though, won't you? You only need to register 3 games from the list of 8 and they're basically all hits so I assume you'll be getting some. :)

There is a lot more bonus content, two new social links (if you have played the Persona games before you'll know the importance of social links) and one of those social links leads to a bonus dungeon if you max it out, which was actually one of the more challenging dungeons in the game (which surprised me). Visually I think the Vita version looks much better as well than the PS2 version. Definitely worth the £35 I paid for it

Yeah probably, but even though the one I'd choose would be free I'd still prefer to buy a physical copy  It'd be alright if Art Academy of something was one of the choices but they're all "full" games so I rather have a proper copy :annoyed:

But I guess I could choose a game I already own then it'd be convenient to have a physical and digital version of it, and I wouldn't have to make this awkward decision...

It's very good on the VITA.

You've not even played it, admit it Weaste.

I'm thinking about getting it but I don't know how difficult it is to grasp it. I've never been much into this type of games but it's apparently the best title on Vita so I can't really miss it.

I'll probably buy it tomorrow when I'm in the store and take my collection of handheld games that I'm yet to complete to about two dozens. Kind of good actually as I got a 2-week trip to Italy from work coming up and I need something to play in the hotel in the evening and then from September I'll be 3-4 days of the week away from home so I'll probably finish them all by the end of year.

Its in my top 3 Vita games with Uncharted and Gravity Rush (I hope they do the second one)

Its a slow starter, but once you get into it its incredibly absorbing, and by then end you do genuinely care for all of the characters (which is a cliché thing to say, but it took me 72 hours to complete the game once, and after than much time you do build a connection to the characters)

Cheers for that. Google tells me it is unfortunately a very good re-release. :( Ahh...it will be annoying playing the PS2 version having that at the back of my mind.

What are the storylines like on these games, by the way? I understand they're good, but how good exactly? FF good? The only Atlus RPG I've played is the DS game 'Radiant Historia' and that was amazing. I loved it - probably the best JRPG I've played since FFX/DQ8.

They've counted Lego City in the end and gave me a pass to get a free game - picked Fire Emblem. I'm really hoping it's going to be good, not really my sort of game but with the reviews it was getting it was a no-brainer. I'll end up buying Animal Crossing and Donkey Kong in retail copies.

Ordered Persona 4 too.

Where did you get the console for that price sarni?

One of the local stores, they're buying stuff from markets across Europe and usually offer a good price on everything. The only issue with it is that the box is pretty ripped because the console was used for demonstration a few times in the place they got it from but it doesn't have any signs of it and for £30 saved I can get by with a ripped box.

I must say Nintendo are taking a lot of time to send me a code for Fire Emblem download.

Considering* getting a 3DS over the course of the summer. Anyone got any games to recommend?

Looking to get, at least, Luigi's Mansion 2 and some Mario game.

*Unless Weaste can seduce me into getting a Vita.

Super Mario 3D Land
Kid Icarus
Professor Layton and the Miracle Mask
Ocarina of Time
Resident Evil: Revelations
Paper Mario
Pilotwings (If you can get it for a good price. I like it a lot but it's probably not worth the same price as some other games you could get.)

Haven't got Fire Emblem yet but everyone says it's brilliant. Also Donkey Kong Country Returns is recently out, so if you haven't played the Wii version or want the extra levels then you might want that.

There's other obvious ones like NSMB2, Mario Kart, Kingdom Hearts etc but I haven't got them yet so I wont recommend them.

If you want eShop game recommendations too, then;

Mutant Mudds
Might Switch Force
HarmoKnight
Gunman Clive
Pullblox

Mario Kart 7 is great, as is Star Fox 64 3D (Maybe somewhat due to sentimental value of owning the non-3D version when I was a kid). I wasn't too big on Kingdom Hearts, but I probably didn't give it as much of a chance as I should.

I'll also echo Olly's suggestions of Ocarina of Time and Super Mario 3D Land too. I loved Luigi's Mansion 2, probably my favorite game on the system, but I've yet to try Donkey Kong or NWMB2.

Cheers for the suggestions, guys. I'll probably go for the Nintendo games first, the likes of Mario, Luigi and Zelda. It'll be fun, I'm getting sentimental already!

Lord almighty! That almost convinced me

I've got both, VITA blows the 3DS out of the water.

It really doesn't. In terms of software 3DS has more interesting games at the minute. You can't go wrong with either though to be fair, there are 10-15 good games for both systems that will keep you busy for a long time. I have both too and I spend roughly the same amount of time with both lately.

I've looked into it, but I really want to play the Nintendo games. It makes me nostalgic!

If you feel thar way then for 3DS. Zelda, three Mario games, Luigi's Mansion, Fire Emblem, Donkey Kong, Animal Crossing and a few others will keep you busy for a long, long time.

Have any of you played the last Harvest Moon for 3DS? I want Animal Crossing in June but in the meantime I'd really like to have a go at Harvest Moon. I've never played any of the previous installments in the series much so it'll be virtually my first longer encounter. Should I buy this for £16 or wait for Animal Crossing that is released in about three weeks from now?

I loved Harvest Moon at GB back in the days. Been addicted to Hay Day at iPhone lately too

I hadnt played nintendo games for years and the 3DS brought me right back.

I have also downloaded some old NES games like Castlevania and Mario 1.

Also new Zelda coming out later this year

Oh yeah, it'll be great :D

Lately, I've also been contemplating buying an old SNES too.. might just hold that off for a while yet.

I've heard good things about Harvest Moon, but I've never played it either. Personally, I'd suggest holding off on it and waiting for Animal Crossing. I think you'd put it down once AC is out and not get your money's worth even at that price.

Get in!
