Amazing isn't it.I assumed he meant Wijnaldum but he only got the first two letters spot on in a 9-letter word.

I agree - but more the question is should we be signing a limited, ball-winner of that type then?
Basically, in order of preference
1) Sign a top quality midfielder.
2) Dont sign anyone - utilise Kagawa/Jones in CM when a specialist is required and trust that LVG will bring out the best of them and Cleverley (probably get Strootman in January).
3) Sign a limited player like De Jong.
Yes we should if it means that he can improve us as a team on the whole and fit into our system well. The very fact that we have the more expansive Herrera partnering him combined with creative talents like Rooney, Mata and RVP ahead of him means we can afford to have a limited ball winner type. Btw De Jong is not as limited as many here seem to suggest. He averaged 90% on the passing accuracy stats last season meaning he could retain and recycle possession to a decent level.
JESUS CHRIST how anyone can think this is a good signing is beyond me. First off I don't care if he's Lionel Messi himself I don't want any motherfecking ex City player at our club.
1. city offloaded him on a cut price deal to AC Milan because he was off the pace of the premier league. He would instantly be third best to ANY of our midfield players. He severely lacks any ball control or quickness of mind to compete at the top level.
"oh what about him In the Holland squad" WHAT?! you mean the same Holland squad that eventually dropped him for Calsie, Wilderhein and Blind for the higher energy teams such as Argentina.
2. he can't break into the Milan squad In a league severely slower than our own.
I'm severely worried that us signing him would mean the death of the Vidal deal and if that's the case I will be royally pissed off, even a crocked Vidal is better than this idiot. Sadly it's probably the most realistic deal we've had all summer and I see it happening. I'd be disgusted to see him in a United shirt and I think it would damage our reputation.
Imagine all the City fans larking about how he used to play for them and was too shit and all we can sign are crocked useless players they used to have. Embarrassing.
He has such a high passing accuracy rate because he mostly passes sideways and backwards. His high passing accuracy is another signifier of how limited he is as a player.
LVG didn't drop his incidental head of pressing, in fact he was an integral part of the team when he got injured and that was the reason why he couldn't play. He even came back for the Argentina game and did a pretty good job of marking Messi I feel. Wonder who those players are
He wasn't shit and won the premier league with them. Most City fans regret letting De Jong go and I am sure the management has too. So tell me how City fared when Toure or Fernandinho were unavailable last season. They would have rather had De Jong over Javi Garicia and Rodwell which is the reason why they bought Fernando.
He started 11 matches in the league for them when they won the title. And Fernando was bought to replace Barry not De Jong.
I already stated that with players like Herrera, Mata, Rooney and RVP ahead of him we can afford a defensive shield who is fairly limited(I said he wasn't as limited as people are making him out to be). If he can retain and recycle possession in that defensive role that is more than enough with the emphasis being on Herrera and the forward players to provide more penetrating passes.
Or we could get a midfielder who can do a lot of defensive work but, can also play a bit of football. Why limit ourselves with someone like De Jong? They are a lot of midfielders out there who can give us a lot more than De Jong.

He has EPL experience, LVG knows and appreciates him as a player who fits extremely well in a 3-5-2, is a fairly known quantity and we know what we are getting no surprises. Lets not also forget that he is a good signing at the reported price in this inflated transfer market. I am not saying we should sign him and make him the first name of the team sheet but it would be silly not to buy him in this context and he also offers qualities that none of our current midfielders possess. We should get another quality midfielder ideally but with De Jong in the bag we won't be held to ransom for these players and can afford to go into the season with our midfield. All I am saying is that it makes too much not to go in for him.
This is what I feel too.
If you consider Herrera being out for whatever reason, that would leave us with last year's midfield or De Jong + Fletcher/Carrick/Cleverley/Fellaini.
We need better.
I'm aware of that, but we are only looking at two spots. If we say Herrera and Carrick can play the more defensive role, then we need someone who can offer more going forward. It makes more sense to get someone who can do both, rather than buy a specialist, and a thug to boot.Clearly signing De Jong isnt the answer to all of the problems we have but I suspect its not a case of getting him over and above someone else, but as well as.
Surely that can't be right, I didn't really follow Arsenal too much last season so can't say for sure, but one of the reasons he wants to leave is because he's behind Mertersacker and Kos in the pecking order and can't get a game, so surprised if he played 33 games last season unless it was in a position other than CB.
I wonder does he have the game to play CB as cover ala mascherano....hmmmm
A bit short, but I'm sure he could do the job.
Is he shorter than Mascherano?
Apparently so. 1cm shorter
Jong man, are you listening to me?

Gustavo wouldn't be had for 'very little outlay', at least not this summer.Think I prefer Gustavo but either will do a great job in there for very little outlay.
