I don't rate him as highly as others do (I think Pearson is a much better prospect for a start) but I think it's obvious to everyone that a loan would be for the best.

I don't think he's good enough for a premier league loan yet. We'd be doing well if we could get him a good championship team that would actually play him as a central midfielder. Maybe Cardiff, who knows.

He needs a PL loan. He's already had a championship loan and even played in the Europa cup. There's no point in giving him another championship loan. Loan him out to QPR or Burnley and lets see how he does.

Well if he goes on loan he wont get a chance here does he? Or is that hard too understand?
Van Gaal also sent Alaba on loan and let Kroos stay out for another season. He has already mentioned Powell's name in the list of players missing and he plays in a position where van Gaal has complained is overstocked. Sending a 20 year old on loan doesn't make their chance of making it slim.

Ok if you say so..

Had a chance to prove himself tonight. Completely failed. Awful performance.

Not good enough, even as a squad player. Should be sent out on loan (again) or sold.

Him playing upfront for Wigan and then us trying to turn him into a CM clearly hasn't worked, i thought he was awful today.

Needs going out on loan, but the club he goes out on loan to needs to play him in CM or wherever United feel his best position will be, that should be part of the next loan agreement.

Thought he was decent today frankly.

Some of the criticism is over the top certainly.Misplaced 4/5 passes but Had some good interceptions, also was the only one actually attempting to drive us forward after Kagawa went off and he can actually run with the ball and avoid the tackler. Plus 2 good shots. Atleast he showed something and chased a lot too though was positionally suspect.

Also it was his first game back without pre season and he isn't really a CM. Let alone one to play with Anderson.

The moment he went off we crumbled as Pereira was playing midfield alone. Guess he wasn't fit enough for more than 60 minutes.

I'm not convinced this lad plays football anymore.

This was his first game of the season. He did not have a proper pre-season as many of the other players out there today and so he was understandably rusty. But yes, not a superb performance by any means but there were glimpses of his talent here and there. There are also questions about his position as he just does not have the work rate of a CM.

He doesn't have much experience at first team level playing in midfield. It was easy to see in some of the positions he took up.

I think he sees a good game but his application and work rate is terrible. There was some passes where he seen one of our players make the run but rather than putting effort into the pass, he would just nonchalantly try and play it over 40yards.

Some of his passing was terrible, maybe he's not a CM after all. Again it's always hard to judge someone based on one game but if he wants to make his mark at United he needs to take advantage of games like this. Should look into another loan move, where he will play CM.

He can't pass, can he? Decent shot, touch and run can be decent at times, but, he can't pass.

He's got talent. Looks very raw and not at all clear which position he should play. I imagine he'll have to go out on loan and make small steps towards eventually becoming a Man United player, if he's lucky. Can't imagine there will be a queue of PL teams wanting him right now so perhaps another Championship loan then PL next season if he impresses.

I've watched a lot of Powell and I understand where you're coming from. His natural game makes him look lazy and CURRENTLY he is more suited to playing a bit further up the pitch. However, he has all the attributes to be a very good deep-lying playmaker. A loan move would be good for him, especially if its to a PL club where he is going to get valuable experience.

I watched him a lot on loan, I don't think he will make it here.

Didn't look sharp at all. There's no doubting the performances all round weren't good enough but I did feel that it was hard on some of them. When you come in to a team where a lot of players have had very little/no competitive minutes over a sustained period it's tough. I still think though that I'd prefer clev's time be given to Powell but in reality with no cup game until after xmas it's not worth him staying here. Should go on loan. Had he come on preseason and impressed he might have got a PL move but don't see it. Can go to the Championship till xmas though and hopefully get a PL move after.

A midfield of Anderson - Powell is a complete nightmare. That defense didn't make things better, but these two hardly helped matters.

He has little attributes to be a deep lying playmaker tbh. His passing is okayish.

He's pretty much a young lampard. Best position being off the striker right now and he has a added bonus of being able to run with the ball too.

When he has a okayish or bad game this criticism of he is lazy etc.. come out due to his body language pretty much and poor positioning as a CM and also his languid style. He made few sprints today to close down their CB's and even keeper.

He's never going to get a game just off the striker, so should be sold.

His biggest problem is that he isn't CM, and since he came here he never showed any signs he can become one. I never understood why the feck Fergie thought he can become excellent cm in the future, when it's quite obvious his skillset isn't suited for that position. Van Gaal probably never watched him so far, so I can't blame him for playing him as cm today, altough he did move him instantly once Kagawa was injured.
