Hard to assess a player when they are not wearing the red shirt (including potential signings). Some grow into it, others its an uncomfortable fit. Powell's a confident lad and I get the feeling he wont look out of place in it. The problem I have with him is whats his best position?

I just can't see him as a CM and as a number ten I can't see him displacing Mata, Rooney, Kagawa and maybe even Januzaj. Where he fits in our team is questionable atm. There's also the fact that for me he needs to do more off the ball, tracking back etc which is something he can develop.
I'd like to see him on loan in the PL see how he gets on at this level.

Now that Hull City have secured the Europa League and are managed by an ex-United player, it would be a waste of an opportunity for us not to loan a player or two there.

Although they have 3 useful forwards in Long, Jelavic and Aluko, so maybe players like Lingard, Zaha, Michael Keane and Varela make more sense.

Yeah Bruce gave Welbeck a lot of playing time at Sunderland. Don't Hull play 5-3-2? If so then it would suit Powell, eg::

Jelavic - Long
Powell
Huddlestone - Livermore

Browsed through a Wigan forum for a bit. Most said he worked really hard off the ball closing down and pressing in the first half of the season. They all sang his praises about him being their best player. Since he has got injured they have turned on him and question what he brings. They say he has been lethargic and lazy in his last few outings and that he doesn't really suit Uwe Rosler's formation and tactics which would explain why he has found it hard to get back into the side.

Yeah, Hull could be a good fit for him. They play good football and a formation to accommodate him. Europa League would be good for him and he's shown he can handle the competition which would give Hull much needed depth. Livermore is only on loan so we'll see if they sign him permanently as I don't see much of a future for him at Spurs. Sagbo and Aluko are shite too so Powell would add a much needed goal threat. It's a move that would make a lot of sense to me. Hopefully they come in for him.

Aluko isn't shite at all, he just got hurt.

I just don't see anything like the same attributes. Powell has talent, thats for sure but his lack of pace and intensity works against him a lot.

I think he have potentially better players in the youth teams....

I don't think he lacks pace at all but I agree with the intensity bit. He's without doubt a very special talent but is he dedicated enough?

I think his style makes a lot of people question his attitude and commitment (including myself of course). I'm urged to think of him as non-chalant, rightfully arrogant and stylish when his team is winning; lazy and indifferent when his team is losing. If he's not going to change his style and work harder, he'll have to do something outrageously good to become a part of this United team in the coming years.

Best comparison I've seen is with Le Tissier - not quite a midfielder but not quite a forward either, lazy but capable of moments of genius.

If Nick can emulate some of Le Tisser's moments of genius I would be very happy.

I guess so, but he earns a fortune compared to other twenty somethings, so he'll be fine

Idiot.

"His breath test at the scene was 54mg per 100ml of breath, the legal limit is 35." How many pints would that be?

The penalties aren't half harsh though!
I actually think the punishments for drink driving is in general too lenient. Especially with the limit being quite high in the UK.

Extremely stupid. At least he didn't crash or anything, could've been much worse. Hopefully this will make him stronger.

He's a fairly big lad, my guess would be either 3 pints or maybe like Tunnicliffe it was a next day job?

Agree with this. I was shocked the first time I heard the limit in the UK.

Is no one else going to question why he was driving a Vauxhall Corsa? With his money you'd think he'd be driving better cars.

I think I'd always have a Corsa or something else insignificant to drive around town in because people would notice you and you'd probably not get fans screaming or paparazzi etc chasing after you.

Doesn't excuse him being an idiot driving over the limit mind. If he has got an attitude problem then signs like this are confirmation.

Jesus, another idiot on our hands, great.

Hardly. All it takes is two pints of lager to fail a breathaliser, not even that. Rightly or wrongly, there is an exceptional amount of people that drink a pint and a half and drive their car.

And those people are idiots, quite simply.

Everybody who drinks and then drives is an idiot.

Going on a piss up and driving is unforgivable yes. However, One bottle of beer with a meal ... Would you class that as idiotic behavior? Get off your high horse.

Looking at the limits there are in the UK I doubt it was just a 'one bottle of beer'. Nothing to do with with a high horse, just being responsible and not a total idiot.

Inexusable shit to me really.

You can fail a breathaliser after one pint, absolutely.

Yeah no excusing that. He may be a young lad but he should know how serious of an offence it is.

Maybe Van Gaal will sort him out :D
