you don't think your Maple Leafs can make it this year then? :)

Don't get me wrong, I would love for that to happen. My problem is that, in the last couple of years, the team that dominated the regular season ended up losing in the playoffs. Thus, we have that going against us. Also, while Ottawa is getting healthy again (Varada, White and Lalime are coming back), we have lost Nolan and are a generally old team as is. I think this series will come down to the wire, but in the end, a healthier, younger Sen's squad will win--sadly.

There was a definate odour of Anaheim in the first two periods of last night's Detroit match. But the boys came good and looked like real cup contenders in the third. Lang's goal was class. Homer's deflection was quality and what is it with Draper's scoring touch these days? Legace also had a solid start to his playoff career.

Vancouver and Calgary had a very unplayoff like game. A 5-3!!! Vancouver were 4for6 on the powerplay and Naslund got 3 assists. Calgary will need to be very careful with taking penalties for the rest of this series. This one looks like its gonna be pretty good!

As for the Dallas .v. Colorado matchup. Aebischer had a good match (Unproven goalies... It's the new black you know). Forsberg had a one goal game and Boughner even got 2 assists. If Coloado get Kariya back they have a good chance of coming out of the West.

Out East, Montreal were very dissapointing, but Raycroft had a great game and will now be filled with all kinds of confidence. Boston could turn out to be a real darkhorse for the cup this season. Montreal really need to up their game. It was a surprise that they couldn't get more pumped up. Maybe as soon as they return to their hockey mad home fans that'll change.

A good start to these playoffs. The only way it could have been better would have been if there was a positive announcement about the CBA. But that won't happen and we'll have to suffer a lockout. Lets hope for some great playoffs to go out on then :D

so...the Leafs lost tonight... 4-2 to Ottawa
the 5-3 play was the whole turning point of the game.
Leafs did well in the first period, but in the season period & third, not at all
Credits to the Sens. as they really forgotten that Leafs did beat them last saturday by the score 6-0, really tough team.
They played well tonight, and deserved the win

NJ Devils lost 2-3
this suprised me...
Lightnings winning 3-0
this is not surprising

team (game leads/draws) team
-------------------------------
Red Wings 1-0 Predators
Lightning 1-0 Islanders
Sharks 1-0 Blues
Bruins 2-0 Canadiens
Canucks 1-1 Flames
Flyers 1-0 devils
avalanche 2-0 stars
Senators 1-0 Leafs

For the sake of my friends in Canada and ice hockey fans around the world, please don't let the Leafs win the cup. It wouldn't be a win for Canada it would be a win for the City who wants to be in America the most, expect them at the White House if they do win rather than the Prime Minister's place.

I'd love a Canadian team to win, but apart from the Habs and Sens, I don't want any of the others to win it. Besides that, they play in the East and as my Oilers play in the West I've gotta cheer for a West team. So let's go Wings or Aves. As much as I hate glory hunting, as these two have Oil connections and play out West these are the only teams I want to win right now. I hate myself for it, but come on you guys. I certainly hope the Aves down the Stars, the Stars have put the Oilers out in round 1 too many times for me not to enjoy that happening to them...........

islanders 3-0 lightning
great game, good play by the islanders, deserved the win.
one disallowed goal against lightning, but that was a right decision, good call by the referee there.
Lightning were...crap today...lots of sloppy plays
and i don't know why their coach played 6 on 5 at 17 mins in the 3rd period, he knew the islanders aren't bad at all, and he shouldn't do that.

Detroit > Nashville
Colorado > Dallas
Vancouver > Calgary
San Jose > St Louis

NY Islanders > Tampa Bay
Philly > NJ
Boston > Montreal
Toronto > Ottawa

Bit late but still.

I see a surprise stanley cup match up between Boston and San Jose.

Only a little late

And interesting guess for the final. I would never have picked those two teams to make it. Then again, I should trust you, you are the Champion (well, for this year at least ;) )

The Wings were shot down 3-1 tonight by the Preds in Nashville... The Bruins are playing the Canadiens now, while the Canucks will attempt to douse the Flames in a few hours. Latest series scores are:

Detroit lead Nashville 2-1
San Jose lead St Louis 2-0
Calgary are tying Vancouver 1-1
Colorado lead Dallas 2-0

Tampa Bay are tying New York Islanders 1-1
Boston lead Montreal 2-0
Philadelphia lead New Jersey 2-0
Ottawa are tying Toronto 1-1

My revised predictions for the teams in the next round are:

Detroit
San Jose
Vancouver
Colorado

Tampa Bay
Boston
Philadelphia
Ottawa

Toronto leading 2-1 in the series
:D :D :D
'Can you ever get pass Belfour can you ****!!!'

Great comeback win for Dallas. Down 3-1, they score a goal with 2.0 seconds left in 2nd period. Then tie game with less than 5 minutes in the 3rd. Then a turnover by Colorado sees Steve Ott race clear of the Avs and score the OT winner. Might turn the series around, but only if Dallas win game 4.

Stanley Cup Highlights

ooops

thought this thread was about the National Hurling League play-offs

:nervous:

I'll get me coat

great win by the flames tonight, they tied the series 2-2
4-0 (with 1 short-handed goal) cool game

Detroit are looking very shaky. Could they be knocked out in the first round 2 years in a row? As someone in the stands said "Speed .v. Salery... Speed Wins" and Nashville have that AND momentum now... :nervous:

Ottawa 4-1 Leafs
Sundin gone injured, without Niewendyk, Nolan, Leafs looked terrible tonight...
series tied 2-2

lightning leading series 3-1 (islanders)
red wings tied 2-2 (predators)
sharks leading 3-1 (blues)
boston leading 3-1 (Canadiens)
Canucks 2-2 flames
flyers 3-1 devils
Avalanche 2-1 stars

I think Dallas will still win.

Islanders have been shut out three games.
they had a great game vs. the lightning by winning 3-0 ONCE, but the others were crap

update - 15/4/04
Red Wings 3-2 Predators
Lightning 3-1 Islanders (all 3-0 wins...what the hack...)
sharks WINS 4-1 blues
Bruins 3-2 Canadiens
Flames 3-2 Canucks
Flyers 3-1 Devils
Avalanche 3-1 Stars
Leafs 2-2 Sens

Will be a very tought game for Toronto tomorrow, without Sundin, Nolan, and Nieuwendyk :(
I hope Joe's alright :( He's like the goal scoring machine... :(
and Owen also... :(
Mads...his situation is not optimistic.... :(

The Isles played will in the first game but lost because their fifth defensemen had two very costly giveaways. TB really outplayed them in NY. Looks bleak now. Even when they have the edge in play, the Bulin Wall stops them.

It will be incredibly tough. I was slightly concerned at the start of the series. Now, I am incredibly worried. Sundin is really the heart and soul of this team. Roberts is going to have to take up the role as team leader.

And as an aside, I just hope the Bruins beat the feck out of those Canadiens. Those useless tossers in Montreal never stop jeering during our national anthem...

The only teams I ever care about are the original six. That said I am hoping that Detroit loses tomorrow night in Nashville cause I have tickets to game 7 at the Joe in Detroit. The one and only time I may get to see a playoff game. :nervous:

Cujo looked fecking awsome in net last night. :D

YES!!!!!
TORONTO 2-0 OTTAWA!!!!!!!!
EDDIE WITH ANOTHER SHUT OUT!!!! 3 IN THE PLAYOFFS!!!!
TORONTO LEADING 3-2!!!!!!
GO LEAFS GO!!!

and btw, Mike Danton from the Blues was being arrested by the FBI, they said Mike hired a guy to kill someone

1) i was very worry before the game, but luckily Joe made it and he looked sharp tonight! I don't think Sundin will be playing on Sunday, :(
heard that Nolan got back on the ice, so... hope he can make it on Sunday! Gary Roberts was supreb tonight, if you see him as the captain tonight.
2) What were the Canadiens jeering about? :smirk:
