Sharks just clawed one back. More importantly they started scoring power play goals again. Hopefully they can tie this series up and bring it back home.

My prediction was Anaheim in 6 so i'm on track

In fact i'm on track other than the Bruins-Habs series...

that makes him a cnut in my book. opponents will be watching for that now and it'll cause some shit, people will get suspended...and he'd better be one of them.

Yea, it really pisses me off. That's not even something a Sean Avery type player would do. He'll be an arse during the game, but once it's over he's not about to disrespect your entire organization.

He's on the WUM man, he's got ego that's for sure, something that gives him the edge over Malkin and Crosby is his charisma, grind, and how he'll break the norms and wind-up the media.

He also snuck into Rangers practice and watched before he was escorted out before the game, seemingly getting into the heads of a few Rangers by the way game 3 went about.

Game 4 might just be the best game in this first round.

Yea, he's definitely on a WUM. Before the series he's talked about how we're afraid of him. Also went on about the size of Lundqvist's pads (can't imagine what he meant to achieve with that). It's only his little celebration that annoys me though - very classless.

One thing I notice about him, completely should be called for charging. Surely someone who skates as well as him should have no problem hitting a guy without leaving the ice and jumping at them.

Still, I'm scared about the rest of the series. He hasn't even scored yet. :nervous: Hopefully the entire time can find their effort again, because they were going the motions in game 4. If they do, it should be an awesome game.

GO B's!!

4-1 after two. montreal going out with a whimper.

edit: DONE!!

love the traditional handshake at the end of a series!

Bruins sure did look dominant that series from the bits I managed to catch. Now the Rangers just need to finish off 1 game and we've got a nice tie with them in the 2nd round...

Lundqvist played fantastically last night. Another world class performance from him. The whole team's effort improved ten-fold from Monday. One more game boys, let's finish it off!

more rest for the B's with the rangers losing tonight. :p

Really want Washington to win so this series sees a game 7... would be one of the best of all-time

I really don't. Ovechkin is really making me hate him. Admire his skill, dislike his personality at this point.

I hate the argument I'm hearing from people that without Lundqvist, the Rangers wouldn't stand a chance. Of course we wouldn't, it's our star player. It's a ridiculous argument, as Lundqvist IS a part of the Rangers and is paid 7 million to win games. It makes no sense. If you take a teams best player away, of course they'd be significantly worse. :wenger:

Whoever wins, yea you guys have some nice rest. Not that you'll even need it. You're good enough to beat anyone in the East without much difficulty IMO.

^ Well said NYR, I hate when people try to justify a teams good will on their goalie as if a netminder can't be a star... same thing was in full effect with Kipper a few years ago with the flames, the whole "They'd be nothing without your goalie"

Well, no, because he was the star.

Steve Mason, Roberto Luongo, the list goes on...

Yep Anderson.

I'd like to say a few things before I go cry over the complete lack of heart showed in this game up to this point.

A) Brashear is a thug. He better be suspended even if that horrible, dirty, late elbow wasn't called during the game.
B) 2 goals that should have been in that might have completely changed the tide of this game that Naslund and Zherdev somehow missed.
C) It's game 6. You'd think they'd care. This team is just so uninspiring, and besides the goalie, so untalented. I'd seriously consider cutting 1 or 2 out of the threesome of Gomez, Redden, and Drury. Need to rectify those mistakes. Simple as.
D) I'd be amazed if we can win game 7, but I'm still holding the faith.

^ The more i watch those cocky, arrogant Caps players, the more I want you lot to beat them.

Ovechkin went from being one of my favorite players in hockey to... well... maybe hated?

Taunting and such isn't necessary.

^ Why thank you. Maybe your rooting will help us out. Probably not :( You know, it's sad that I'm starting to like Crosby more than Ovechkin. As a Rangers fan who strongly hates the Pens, that is saying something.

I'm not going to hold my breath though. The Caps really should win game 7. Here's to hoping the Bruins demolish any and all competition in the East. Although I doubt you want that with what they did to your Canadiens.

as a Bruins fan thanks! although rivals, the Bruins' and Canadiens' organizations respect each other greatly. i believe the same holds true for the fans. i think it would be great for Boston, one of the original six , to win. it's been a very long dry spell.

Anyone hear that Brandon Dubinsky, one of our good young players, was bitten in a skirmish yesterday after he'd taken a 2 minute boarding penalty and was subsequently given a 10 minute misconduct for trying to point it out to the referee? Shocking. He had to take a tetanus shot after the game and apparently the bite mark is quite clear on his right hand. He said that Shaone Morrison, a Caps defenseman did it. I don't think there's video evidence though, so it'll go unpunished I imagine. At least Brashear WILL be punished - there's no way he can escape it for that hit. I'd have liked a 5 minute major during the game though (not that our powerplay would have scored anyway).

Also, as far as Coach Torterella goes, I'm not sure I like some of his antics. I can understand why he got frustrated with the treatment we were getting from the fans behind the bench (which Caps security failed to address even after being asked twice), but that doesn't excuse his actions. The least he could do it is make some form of an apology to the person he hit with the water bottle he threw. It's ironic that he lost his cool the game that he benched Avery for losing his. Doesn't project a good image that. The playoffs is a time we need our coach behind the bench and to force himself into being suspended - I don't like it.

I've never been a huge fan of Boston before, but the current team is one I actually do like and respect. A very well put together team. Love Tim Thomas' unorthodox style. Also a big fan of Marc Savard as I think he's criminally underrated.

I'll probably root for the Blackhawks to win it all if we're knocked out, but I definitely wouldn't mind seeing it go to Boston if that was the case either. Don't think the Hawks stand a chance anyway. Khabibulin doesn't exactly inspire confidence at times.

where?

go Caps!!!!!!!!!

Are you Canadian?

NBC would drool at the potential for Ovechkin being the bad boy, more viewers

Nasty

For the record, Phaneuf is out tonight... Hawks need to take advantage

Yea, with Phaneuf out they stand a real chance at taking the game in Calgary. You always want to win the series before a game 7 if possible. There's no telling how a game 7 will go..

WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOH !!!

Won about a hundred last night on these 2 games plus the Sox and Nuggets, the West is a sexy set-up now.

Detroit-Anaheim
Vancouver-Chicago

My Anaheim - Chicago West Final is in, a, shout !!!

what difference does that make?

A big difference actually:

In Canada, the media are shitting all over Washington and Ovechkin's reputation these last 6 games.

In the States, they love it because it's getting ratings for NBC.

ESPN are running with this "New rivalry" as well.

and who was working as a pannelist for TSN until a couple of months ago?

Tortorella. Bit of a reach that, imo. Maybe it's a combination of that and the antics of the Caps and Ovechkin in the series? I wish I got TSN and related channels. Barely see any good NHL coverage here in the states... :(

Jesus I forgot he was an analyst... to be frank didn't watch much TSN coverage through the year, I have NHL Centre Ice so I got regional coverage of out-of-market games.

Sorry sidsutton

Go Blackhawks! About damn time they won a play off series again

Washington put in a top class team performance... hope Carolina wins so they get Pittsburgh, but I reckon Jersey should hold on.

:eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek:

Carolina pulled off a United-esque comeback... the Devils fans were, quite, shcoked... just, wow.

Anaheim in 6
Boston in 5
Pittsburgh in 6
Hawks in 7

YEAH Staal(!) and Fedorov.. That CAR 3-3 goal was amazing!

I'm so happy NYR and NJD are out.. These teams are full of very good players for The USA like Parise, Langerbrunner, Gomez, Drury, Martin, Dubinsky etc. Hopefully at least 2-3 of these are not completely crushed by losing Game 7.. This also means that great players like Ove, Semin, Staal, Green are not coming to Switzerland.

i was glad to see the sharks and devils bumped. not the rangers so much. all this is purely selfish on my part. so i guess the B's get carolina and washington gets pittsburg.

Drury definitely won't be playing. He's been playing with what is probably a broken hand.

I thought they played pretty poorly to be honest. Or, should I say, the Rangers outplayed them. If the Rangers had any finishing talent, they would have won. As it is, their first goal was one of the luckiest I've seen this year. This was the Rangers best game of the series as a team, and they lost. Go figure. Hockey's odd sometimes.

Exactly what Gary Bettman wants. That'll boost the ratings for a round. Maybe.

Can't believe I'm saying this, but go Pens. I hate them, but I fully believe that the Caps don't deserve to win. I dislike Crosby, more specifically the attention paid to him, but I don't disrespect him as a person - he seems like a good professional for his age. Anyway, I don't disrespect the way that the Penguins play (Well, not completely true.. -cough- Malkin pettily slew footing Mara after they lost ONE game in our series last year and not even being suspended for it). After that 7 game series, I do disrespect the way the Capitals act and play a whole lot more.

By the way, I genuinely feel a bit bad for Avery. Don't like his style sometimes, but the fact that there's a different set of rules when it comes to him then for everyone else is a shame. Referees should not ref games based on reputations, they should ref them based on what is going on during play. Right before the Caps scored their first goal, they should have been penalized for a cheap shot on Avery that made him go face first into the boards. Near the end of the game he was kneed and had to limp off of the ice wasting about 10 seconds of precious time for us to try to accomplish something. I understand letting some interference and whatnot go - it is game 7 after all - but both of those were plays that can injure. Yet, whenever he commits a transgression, it seems that there's always a ref that sees it. So much for giving second chances.

Glad that if we went down, we went down giving it a good performance. Just wished that we would have played like that in games 5 and 6. We would have won this series. Still a good learning experience for some of our younger players. And on the bright side, we're now 1 year closer to some of the older duds' contracts expiring (Gomez, Drury, and Redden). Can't come quickly enough. I'd be all for cutting them and having it count against the cap while we rebuild. Don't think it'll happen though.. :(

I agree, adding the fact both keepers played off their tree, you almost wish there was an extra game.
