N'Golo Kante | Off to Chelsea

This would be a very good signing, I'm very much in favor of this. My only concern is if he couldn't replicate his form like Schneiderlin couldn't when he took a step up in a team. I guess it's slightly different though as Leicester just won the league. If we do make a midfield signing, someone is surely out the door too.

I think it's unfair trying to compare Schneiderlin and Kante. Kante has the stamina and leg to do his job while Schneiderlin doesn't.

This year we should pick up 2 of them from Leicester, for cash or part-exchange for whomever they want from our midfield, one of them from PSG. One from Southampton (ideally in part exchange for Smalling); and possibly: Sofiane Boufal from Lille. The other 25 are almost certainly out of reach, or too old. That will give us 5 of the "best" 30 players (based on stats). It's as good a way as any to build a team. That top 30 lot performed last year. If they can do it again we have the title.
why would we want anyone from your midfield? they wouldn't suit us in our system, Mahrez has no buyout clause btw

Limited player. Wouldn't want him here. His passing will get found out at a top club when he's asked to do more than hit it over the top to Vardy.

not every player needs to be Scholes in possession.....and his passing is absolutely fine for his role.

Harsh. His passing isn't amazing, but it's perfectly serviceable and he brings so much else to the table. Would be a very good signing.

He could've easily been sent off today. Thought he was quite disappointing.

Are you serious? Look at all the talent France have and he's the best player on the pitch.

We need a dictator though. Carrick is old and Schweinsteiger is injured most the time. Kante is pointless when we have Schneiderlin.

Kante is probably the best midfielder at pressing an opponent - he is so lightning quick, and gives opponents no room.

Best player on the pitch? What game were you watching. Could have been sent off if there was a decent referee.

Great little player, thought he was going to be exposed in different team but he is pretty much their second best player in these two games.

If he's limited, what's Schneiderlin then? Kante has become a keyplayer in their midfield while Schneiderlin is warming their bench.

I dont disagree that we need dictator as well but that has nothing to do with what you said. Kante is few classes above Schneiderlin in every segment of the game. And yeah, i agree with @Butty19 that he was the best france player on the pitch alongside Payet.

I disagree, his passing is fine no Scholes but he hardly ever gives it away.

He's as good on the ball as a destroyer needs to be but, it's pretty funny when the ball escapes him from a bad touch or pass and he's too quick for the opponent to do anything before he tackles them again.

Kante is on the verge of being world class. If he gets the right move he'll be viewed as one of if not the best in his role.

Funny how everyone is shitting on Schneiderlin when last season he was the best thing ever according to everyone on here. Let's see what Schneiderlin does under Mourinho. I'm convinced he will do well here and there's no need for another destroyer.

No elite team plays with a pure destroyer in midfield though. Even someone like Gabi is much better on the ball. Wouldn't want him at United. (Schneiderlin too, for that matter)

Scholes and Keane could've been sent of hundreds of times while still putting in performances. Kante covered every blade of grass tonight and passed the ball very well. He passes the ball forward an awful lot as well as appose to sideways or backwards.

He is the best box to box player since Davids and Keane, the only question is will he be able to continue in this form and looking by his performances for France there is a very good chance for that.

So i cant criticize Schneiderling because he was a muppets wet dream last summer? Im also convinced that Schnederlin will play better under Mourinho, he was probably kicking and screaming after he heard that Jose is coming, our very own Obi Mikel.

You play him next yo your playmaker, not as your playmaker.

Nails it. He is a fantastic destroyer/presser who covers the entire pitch and is basically never caught out of position. He is a decent passer but he should not be the guy a good side relies on to pick up the ball form the center backs to start attacks, make incisive passes forward, and lift the tempo of your team. We saw this quite a bit in this match. France was basically dysfunctional in midfield. Kante is better than Matuidi in this regard but still not good enough.

Vidal, Marchisio, Essien, Schweinsteiger?

Ohh forgot Schweini :(
But on this form i would have him as a better player then the first three, its just a question if he can prove he is the real deal on a longer period of time as they did.

If you'd watched us play at all you'd realise that a) he wasn't the 1 hitting long passes for Vardy and b) his passing range is more than good enough but please continue to say all we did to win the Premier league was lump it to Jamie Vardy

His main task in this team is to shield the defense and he does that well. Not a deep lying playmaker though but I don't think anyone really expected him to be that. That being said he was better in the game against Romania for me. He is the kind of guy you want to employ next to someone like Kroos.

When N'Golo attack he does so by driving forward with the ball and playing short sharp passes to the attackers ahead of him

I think he would opt to try and get Schneiderlin back to his best rather than splash silly money on Kante. At his best Schneiderlin is phenomenal and offers more aerially - an area we were awful in last season.

Our main problem is getting a CB in - very few world class CBs around. Is it time for Tuanzebe......

I'm still not convinced personally. He gets absolutely raved about but I'm not sure he's as good as he's made out to be on here. In a midfield three with two ball players I'm sure he'd do well but I prefer midfielders to have a bit more ability than him. If we get him I'll be reasonably happy but Id hold out on calling him top quality until he goes to a big club, we saw what happened with Schneiderlin he was God on this forum 12 months ago.

God I swear if people were watching a young Roy Keane for another team they'd be saying they don't see anything Schneiderlin couldn't do under Maureen!! Jesus he's bossing it for the French national team and they have better options than we've had for a decade in the middle.

I'd honestly snatch at the chance to get this guy. It must be a knight mare to play against him he's always there in your face and wins the ball very cleanly more times than enough I've never seen a more Jose type player but I'd expect most sides in Europe to be after his signature after this tournament!

I bet Conte would love him to do the running next to Fabregas and become Chelsea's Marchisio while Fabregas becomes their Pirlo. Hope it doesn't happen.

I think the jury is still very much on him, I think he's overrated, It's all well and good in the system Leicester play when they don't really have the ball much so you notice him covering the ground and getting tackles but I think If he was to join Arsenal for example, where they would have 75% of the ball, I don't think he's much use in midfield and he has a very non-existent attacking game

I think next season will determine a lot so for now I hope United leave him alone or let another team take a chance. Players have good seasons but it's maintaining it for the next couple of years which is so difficult

I was never convinced by Schneiderlin but Kante has more drive and aggression in his play. This means that he won't wait for the game to come to him, he will go out and influence the game. Too often midfielders wait for something to happen but before they know it the 90 minutes is up.

With Kante, even if he's not having his best game, you know he'll be involved defensively because of his workrate and aggression.

His job for Arsenal would be to break up play and distribute the ball 5 or 10 yards to the attackers. Unless Arsenal have 100% possession, he'll have his uses. He'd probably make his impact in the bigger games though and in Europe.

Having said all that, he's not that bad in an attacking sense as he is often a willing runner into the channels and is generally tidy in the final third. He's good under pressure on the ball, it's not like he's one of these players that falls to bits when they don't have time on the ball.

The team that just won the CL won it with a pure destroyer playing all of their key games at the critical point in the season.
