Alex Smith broke his leg but his face did not give that impression

Cam injured too

These QBs need more protection from the rulebook

The Jax could have Kaepernick at QB right now. It’s important to never forget this.

From my understanding they had no choice once he had the injury and needed surgery. Some kind of rule if I'm not mistaken.

his 2018 contract became guaranteed at $19 million because of his injury. instead they gave him a 3 year $54 million deal ($18 million per year).

so if they didn't extend him, they would have him on a one year deal this year. if he played well, they would need to 1) franchise him at huge money (like kirk cousins) 2) give him a big extension or 3) lose him to free agency after a good year. if he played poorly, they could move on after this year.

instead they extended him which means that if he played well, they had a good quarterback at a reasonable rate for another 2 years. if he doesnt play well (which he hasnt), they are stuck with him anyway.

turns out that he sucks and they are stuck with him next year, which was always the most likely scenario. they made a bet on him being a good quarterback going forward and they lost. and not only that, they didnt bring in anyone like tyrod taylor, alex smith or colin kaepernick or trade for someone like lamar jackson. they bet their 2018 and 2019 seasons on blake bortles. their window has almost definitely closed now.

Melvin Gordon is such a machine at times.

Think the Saints are overusing Taysom Hill. Both of their non TD drives have been undone by a poor play called for Hill.

Broncos manage to eek out a win in spite of horrendous officiating and just as bad a job by Vance Joseph.

Another great day for Vegas, I think none of the favourites except Seattle and NO covered this week. Also do the Giants know they're supposed to be tanking?

Cowboys winning in Atlanta was a pleasant surprise and a typical Falcons thing to do.

Can't help but  at the Eagles. Eat that humble pie, Philly.

Hail to the Deadskins. Thursday's game is now for first-place in the East and a huge factor in how the division plays out and playoff positioning (if a second East club can make the post-season this year, doubtful though). NFC East winner probably ends up losing a home wild card game, or getting slaughtered at Los Angeles or New Orleans.

Bortles... here's the contract breakdown https://www.spotrac.com/nfl/jacksonville-jaguars/blake-bortles-14412/. He played very well against NE in the AFC title game last January so the extension wasn't too surprising considering the options available (outside Cousins not much worth the inflated market rate for QBs). Looks like they got him with a lesser 2018 cap hit but also with the probability of a shitload of dead cap money going forward if they cut him after 2018.

How exactly are the Saints smashing every good team?
The eagles are not a good team right now. Also the Saints appear to be the best team in the NFL.

Btw this league just drives me crazy. Owned by sociopaths, run by imbeciles, 90% of the teams GMs/CEOs/HCs couldn't find their dick to piss on their feet, it's now public knowledge that we're watching people shortening/destroying their lives, and it keeps raking in more and more money year after year, just keeps succeding in spite of itself

In a normal reality, the jaguars should have lost their next 3 first round picks for extending Bortles. Or all of their good players should have been given the choice to instantly become unrestricted FAs
