NFL Thread 2019

If you look at the “normal” stats...

Carr: 3663 yds, 20 TD, 8 INT, 101.1 QBR

Rivers: 4334 yds, 21 TD, 18 INT, 89.2 QBR

Wilson: 3877 yds, 29 TD, 5 INT, 107.3 QBR

As with everything you need to look at a combination of statistics to determine who has performed better than someone else.

QB impact as a comparison to offensive line performance isn’t the only metric. All it shows is certain QBs have performed better than others but only relative to pressure. If Wilson and Rivers completed the same 10 yard pass, it makes Rivers look better because he, on average, faces pressure earlier. But that doesn’t mean Rivers is better.

But that's not what the chart says. EPA in this case is just about whether each passing play improved a teams expected points on that possession and the pbwr axis is just to provide context. If I recall correctly Wilson is actually hurt by the high number of fumbles from his receivers after completed passes.

DVOA, for comparison, has Wilson 7 and Carr 8.

It is what the comment below the chart says though ... the point of the chart is that it’s comparing EPA against PBWR. Ergo it’s trying to make some kind of representation between o-line blocking and impact of a passing play on the game. Presumably the person who posted it was trying to infer QB performance based on this.

A QB has a high impact on any passing play so my point was there is some relevance to looking at this to assess a QBs performance, but can’t be looked at in isolation.

Horrible throw by Brady leads to a pick-6

Hopefully we win & get the bye, but said it weeks ago that we’ll be a 1-and-done team in the playoffs.

Disaster all around for Packers
Hopefully Jones isn't hurt too bad but he's basically carrying our offence in games

Rodgers is having an absolutely horrible game.

We are really as bad as we’ve been in a good number of years. We will go out against whoever plays us, whether that ends up being in wildcard or divisional week.

If we manage to win this game and actually get home field throughout the playoffs, I actually think we could make it. But we're obviously not as good as our record suggests.

Yep
So many over thrown

Jimmy Graham seems to have been a waste as well
Rodgers has been overthrowing guys all season. It's so frustrating. He's got so much time and he's doing so little with it. I know that except for Adams, our receivers aren't good. But he should do much better.
And yeah, Graham is a huge flop.

Yeah I think you guys have a good shot if you secure homefield.

We however are 1 and done as @ha_rooney and I have been saying for some time regardless.

That’s our yearly loss to Miami.

very good catch in the Packers game

And there goes our bye.

didn’t deserve it tbh. The team is not as good as the record suggests.

I think we get the Titans next week?! Might be able to limp to a win but will definitely lose the divisional game.

Great news for the Chiefs with the Pats bottling it against the Dolphins.

The Lions are basically gifting us this game.

@ha_rooney @rpitroda between the Bills, Steelers, and Titans, who would prefer to play in the Wildcard?

I think we avoid the Bills, they’re locked into #5.

Not confident the way we’ve been playing all season, even at home, but I’d rather face the Steelers.

I also think next week will be the last time Brady plays for NE in NE.

I'd like to see them play the Steelers. Those two have a bit of a rivalry about them.

you think he’s going to retire? Or move on?

I think there has been signs but I’m not 100% sure he will retire. But I think he would if NE let’s him go.

It's only right if he retires as a Patriot. Wouldn't look right seeing him in any other jersey.

Move on. I think he wants to play at least another year or 2 & there seems to be a bit of tension between him & BB. Don’t see him staying if BB gets his way.

He’s not quite fallen off as much as Peyton but it has been a poor season by his standards (even with the WR situation). I’m not sure why he would want to carry on playing, he’s achieved everything in the game & has nothing to prove.

Rodgers needs to do more of those shorter passes. Not every throw needs to be a first down.

Jones is the man. Need to wrap him in cotton wool. The key to our playoffs. Also go Seahawks ...

Always fun seeing lions think they gonna win then last second lose  always fun

He wants to play longer but he’s also said a bunch of things this year where IMO he’s clearly at a position where there’s many other important things in his life he wants to balance.

I can’t see him playing anywhere else and it’d be weird if he did.

Eagles have literally no one fit on offense . All WR's from start of the season,Best TE , Best RB and Right tackle injured . Just painful to watch
