NFL Thread 2019

Classifies as one imo or was that to dispute it?

He's third in the league in YAC - almost 1k yards, 75% of his total rushing yards. Was top 5 in broken tackles last season as well, I think. He's not as elusive or as great a pass catcher as some of the other RB stars but I think he's a great downhill runner who can create space for his own. I think he's better than the likes of Fournette for example.

I think hes better than Fournette but I dont think that's saying much. There are very few running backs who are actually difference makers. Not only us Carson not one of them, the ones who are dont even make that much of a difference. McCaffery is having a season for the ages and his team has lost 7 in a row.

I'd have him top 10, yeah. A borderline RB1. CMC, Barkley, Kamara, Chubb, Henry, Jones, Cook, Zeke are the guys I'd have over him right now off the top of my head.

Ok I think we are on a similar page, just I interpret “one of the best in the league” as top 5 or so.

Is he? I mean he a good rusher but one of the best in the league?

He has the 5th most yards in the league and has cracked 1k yards each of his two full seasons. Certainly not the best in the league but definitely moving towards the upper echelon of RBs.

Not saying he isn’t good. I’m only wondering what the overall team’s outcome would be without the fumbles. Like would they be a 1 loss team if he held onto the ball more?

Packers most likely going to be the 2nd seed team, which isn't bad for having a mediocre QB and without the genius of Mike McCarthy.

Saints game is the only one we lost after he fumbled, was returned for a touchdown as well. Feel like we'd still have lost without it though, that game was painful throughout.

Also brought back Robert Turbin, another RB we had about 5 years ago. This team...

Meh I guess it makes some sense to bring back known quantities. They might not be as good as others available but perhaps knowing the system etc. might compensate. It’s a shit position to be in regardless. Who else is out there that you think Seattle should have gone for? (Not suggesting there isn’t anyone, just interested on who you’d think would fit)

We've got rid of both Bevell and Cable since then, still going to be a new playbook to learn, new blocking scheme etc. We've had an overhaul of players in the last 3 years as well, Wilson, Willson and Lockett are the only ones on offense who were here with Lynch (Britt would be another but is on IR).

CJ Anderson seemed like the obvious pickup, he came into a similar situation last year with the Rams and did alright. I know he wasn't great for the Lions this year but still think he'd be an an improvement on Turbin who played all of 2 games last year.

All good points to be honest.

Beast Mode was a no brainer for Carroll, although its unlikely he will be in the best of shape after 18 months out of football. Homer should get a healthy amount of snaps next weekend imo.

It's like following Liverpool from the early 90s till 2018ish. Or United post Fergie.
Only difference is one Trophy in the NFL. At least Liverpool had different competitions to play for and won something. I guess winning a playoff game is considered a successful season but Dallas with this talent can’t even do that.
Anyway the coach will be gone but unless we get a GM with no strings being pulled by Jones the frustration will never end.
Really want Aikman as the GM and a new QB. Dak isn’t accurate and you can’t teach accurate.

Aikman would be fantastic, assuming he actively tries to not hire Lincoln Riley because he feels pressure to do his own thing.

Packers do just enough to get by. If playoff goes through Lambeau, then it'll be a different cup of tea.

really praying for a Hawks win, because we get HFA all through and it'll be critical for us this season.
If Hawks and Saints both win don’t Saints go #1

He's the 3rd most accurate QB in the league this year among those who have at least 500 attempts. The problem for the entire team has been coaching.

Was accurate. Lost his touch. He’s an average qb who can run.

No. Packers have better conference record than Saints.

Or Packers for that matter. Both have a better record than Seattle
Yes. If Hawks, Saints and Packers win, Packers and Saints will be tied at 13-3 with Packers holding tiebreaker. Seahawks get #3 as division champs, 49ers get #5 seed above Vikings.

Aikman has zero experience in an NFL front office setting. Could he take on a GM role? Does he want to deal with that?

Rumor has it he’s interested. Anyway Elway had no experience although he brought in Peyton Manning and won four divisions. If Aikman would be interested they would be crazy not to take him.

Supposedly he is interested, but not necessarily in Dallas because he’d have to work for Jerry.

I’d stay in TV. GM is actual work, not just a posh gig.

It would be a step down for him from his broadcasting gig imo. Working under Jones and in a situation that would never outmatch the glory of his playing days.

Surely if a team signs him, he’ll be put on the exempt list meaning he won’t be able to play? Unless they’ve cleared him in relation to the allegations against him ?

He still doesn't actually have any criminal charges against him, as far as I know.

I thought whether he was being charged or not was irrelevant, isn’t it about whether the NFL is still conducting its own investigation? And whether he’d been cleared by that?
Yes, they have leeway there.

But with his own disputes against teams over lost pay, they may see it as more trouble than it's worth without visible evidence like has been present in other cases.

Imagine having the best pass blocking in the league and getting out performed by derek carr

Not exactly sure what EPA is, but I'm skeptical of any metric that has Derek Carr ahead of Russ and Rodgers. Also has Rivers being right there with those two.
