NFL Thread 2013-14

Shame they don't give rings for most completions in the SuperBowl... Poor Peyton.

Being a part of that Bronco team right now must be thoroughly depressing.

Peyton looks shattered.

Retirement announcement in the near future?

I was thinking that earlier, it surely can't be too far off now.

Sherman, Wilson, Thomas. Those are the big three plus the big contract that was given to Harvin (and Lynch, Sidney Rice, Zach Miller).

I guess the thing is these players know they've have a very unique opportunity to build something very special but in American sports such logic doesn't seem to apply and I can understand why.

Sherman and Wilson?

Well I haven't looked at it in depth but you've got the group of underpaid guys on their rookie deals (Wilson, Sherman, Thomas, Tate, Maxwell, Baldwin, Kearse) and the expensive veterans (Avril, Harvin, Lynch, Okung, Rice, Miller). The math just doesn't work to keep them all.

First 'mistake' Seattle have made all game.

God look at those Broncos players, sports a tough living at times.

I sometimes wonder how much of their pay cheques they would give up to not feel like that, it must be awful.

And Bennett who's had a really good year.

Peyton out-Elied Eli in Eli's stadium. An elite effort.

A lot said about the defence but the Seattle offence has played their part, consistently getting 3rd downs and no turnovers as of yet.

Complete domination. Well done Seattle.

feck you Peyton

feck YEAH!

So happy right now!

Probably a crap game for anyone not a Seattle fan or who hates the Broncos mind.

@ESPN_Numbers: Peyton Manning now has the most career playoff losses for a QB (12).

Game over! What a game. Dominant in all three phases.

Nice.

I'm saying 30-12 Seattle. The Seattle defense will force Manning to simplify his game and have to trust his receivers against the secondary, they will make places and score some points, but Seattle's defense will come through with some big turnovers. The Seattle offense might not be great, but it usually puts points of the board when facing a defense outside the top 10.

This was my prediction before the game. They scored 4 more points that I expected and Seattle put up 13 more points than I expected. Great win to finish off the season.

(The real Superbowl was in the NFC Championship). Go Hawks!!!! :D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D

Terrible SuperBowl, big let down considering all the hype but a beautiful watch and well worth seeing Peyton get embarrassed like that.

Broncos and their much vaunted offense were hopeless. Seattle were exceptional, that D is something special and even the offense turned it on tonight, particularly on 3rd downs. Brilliant performance, the complete performance.

Manning loses again in the big game. He's had a tremendous season, but everyone who called him the greatest ever QB may want to reconsider their opinion.

Yep, when a 2nd year 25 year old QB can keep it together and you as a veteran SB winner can't, then I'm not sure you can be considered the greatest ever.

The whole team weren't good enough but Manning really wasn't at the races today whatsoever, not blaming him solely for the loss however. I know it's a ridiculous defence but it's still not good enough from an offence like that.

Quite a disappointing Super Bowl - not sure whether I'm saying that as an temporary Broncos fan for the night or not.

Such a one-sided affair.

The tradition of giving the trophy to the owner first is annoying. Give it to the players who were exceptional.
