NFL Thread 2013-14

Gruden has been over the top with the praise (of course) but Kuechly is very talented.

Thomas Davis is impressive as well. Especially his quickness, considering he's had three ACL surgeries.

What was up with the no-call at the end?

Second time this season we've been screwed by the refs.

Carolina are a dangerous team. Newton kind of went under the radar last season where the hype shifted to RG3 but he and their D have been playing very well this year.

First off Pats fans, NE have benefited from numerous calls in the Bellicunt/Brady era.

Secondly, I do find it a missed call although I doubt Gronk makes a play on the ball given his momentum fading away from the ball, etc. Yet anything is possible and maybe he does some crazy move and makes the catch (doubtful). I would have said it was defensive holding more than PI. Either way, it would be a first down but holding moves the ball 5/10 yards or half the distance, can't recall. PI would spot the ball at the 1-yard line.

Finally, I felt the worst call of the game was that defensive holding on NE (Olsen was just as guilty and actually hooked his arm on McCourty) that kept alive the Carolina winning TD drive. I would also ask Pats fans why again the defense couldn't stop the opposition when needed.

Newton seems to have matured a lot this season, he was petulant at times last year but looks a different player now and is putting all his talent to good use.

Panthers D is mean, Kuechly for DPOY?

Patriots D is depleted in terms of starters so no surprise it's not always consistent in stopping.

Vikings announce Ponder is starting this weekend. I'm starting to wonder if their coach is being blackmailed into starting him every week...

Denver-Pats this weekend  Might be the last time we see Brady-Manning.

I'm starting to wonder the same. For feck sake. Freeman hasn't learned the playbook yet then? It should be easy. Handoff, handoff, 3 yard out.

Or the good ol' play-action INT.

Jimmy Graham has broken the goalposts

Guy is a beast. Saints look very good, would be interesting to see who would win between them and Seattle.

Edit: turns out they'll play Seattle in their next game!

No quarterback would be able to play well behind that o-line; Matt Ryan did a good job today regardless.

Yeah Falcons have already given up on this season, could be in the running for Clowney or Barr

ATL with an actual pass rush would be scary

Losing Biermann in week 2 definitely hurt, but we didn't do anything to get better on the d-line last off-season. Signing Osi was the least we could afford to do when we weren't resigning Abraham. Basically they tried to pass him off as an upgrade, but he takes just as many plays off as Abe did. WillyMo and Decoud have been pretty awful this year as well in comparison to last season. No one on defense can be proud of what they've done this year, maybe Paul Worrilow aside. Trufant and Alford have done well for being rookies, I guess.

The less said about the O-Line the better. What a horror show.

Atlanta need more than a pass rush. The defense was a big question mark/problem entering 2013 and nothing has changed, injuries or not. They can't tackle, can't rush the passer, can't defend the pass - and that's before the first game.

If all of the Lions' receivers were 7 feet tall, Stafford would have a perfect quarterback rating. I couldn't tell you how many times he has over thrown relatively open receivers

Doesn't help that Durham spun himself into orbit and lost the ball with little contact, but still, 4 turnovers

Arizona defense are spanking Luck and the Colts. Plus, have to hand it to Cam Newton, put in a great game-winning drive early. My prediction about Carolina is still on course.

The officiating in the Dallas/NYG game has been atrocious. Not sure how Bryant was not given a catch there near the goalline. Fortunately, Dallas converted on third down and are in position to win.

Floyd Mayweather bet 6 million dollars on the Cowboys today apparently

Well if he did bet that much, he must be very relieved.

Almost time for Brady-Manning . A 2-0 Pats win would do nicely.

Carlson's Stoke joke

Couldn't they get anyone else to talk about the NFL?

fecking another week, another Ridley fumble. Denver goes 7-0 up.

Another fumble! feck off.

14-0. Abysmal.

Another fecking turnover!!

What the fecking feck is going on? feck off

17-0.

Pats need to get some points on this drive. Or at least not fumble...
