NFL Thread 2013-14

Well you're basically just picking from the top 3 teams in the entire league. Where is the fun in that?

The first game I saw on TV was the Niners vs the LA Rams back in 1984. Because I also liked United, I went for the team in red.

I still hope to see them play in the US sometime, but have seen them play a couple of years ago at Wembley, and also back in 1988 when they played at the old Wembley.

Of course, now they are one of the top teams in the NFL, and for long periods in the 80s and 90s they were up among the best too. But before Harbaugh there were some lean years being a 49ers fan - so it makes it all the sweeter now that they are back at the top.

Who is the best player in the NFL?

Adrian Peterson for me. Doing what he does in a pass-happy league with crap QBs on his club. What he did last season was the most impressive season from a RB in my lifetime, and I would rate his yards as better than Dickerson's record season (when the league was still a run-happy league).

Patrick Willis for me.

Don't agree with that at all. Rodgers or Peterson are both good shouts. He's a great linebacker, but linebackers don't win you games by themselves. Rodgers and Peterson both have taken their respective clubs on their back and carried them to much better records than their talent should command. Rodgers is the best QB in the NFL right now, Peterson is probably the best running back in terms of talent. Since this is a passing league I'd probably have to go with A-Rod, unfortunately.

There's no single best player in the NFL. How can you compare Adrian Peterson to say, JJ Watt or Patrick Peterson? They couldn't be more different yet both are extremely valuable to their respective teams. There's so many different skill sets in American Football that's an impossible question to answer.

I’d agree. The way the game is played you’d have to put more importance on defenders who play on the perimeter - pass rushers, corners etc. The SF linebackers cover as well as anyone in the league but it’s just the position as a whole. There are a lot of really good ones too; I don’t see a huge gap between Willis, Bowman, Kuechly, Johnson, Mayo and my personal binky Sean Lee.

I’d go with Peterson or Rodgers as he can do more on the run and in a broken pocket than Manning or Brady. Even though I don’t think hes as good as them two within it.

As a huge Ed Reed fan I've really enjoyed watching Earl Thomas over the last couple of years as well. Watching him and that Seattle secondary from above is worth the price of NFL Game Pass alone.

I know, I knew I wouldn't get one answer just interested to see what names came up.

Refs with a horrendous call against the Charges in OT. Hitting a defensless receiver when the receiver catches the ball, is hit by a defender and bounces into another defender with his (receiver's) head lowered. The call goes against the second defender that made the tackle. Horrible. Put the ball inside the 15 with that shit call.

I hate the OT touchdown rule. Why a different rule between a FG and a TD? It's stupid.

Lovely throw from Foles. He's been impressive when he's come in.

TD Pats!!!!!

Thought Gronk was in myself. Never mind, 7-0.

Edit: no TD?!

What the feck happened? Why was it overturned?

Amendola TD!!!

Try and overturn that you fecking refs.

Tampa 14-0 up in Seattle! Might be Russell Wilson's first home loss...

Big Ben sacked by jones. Took two of them to get him down in the end

Bucs 21-0 up in Seattle!

What a great play

The taunting penalty is ridiculous. It's an emotional game, stupid league.

Nice stuff from Pats D so far. Turnover on downs.

GRONKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKK!!!!

That's what he does
