NFL 2024 | Super Bowl LIX

I guess they're going to do a statue of a tush being pushed?

Just read that every team in the NFC East has now won the SB multiple times.

Also the only division where every team has won a SB.

#bestdivision

For those wanting to see a good game, that was a disappointing Super Bowl. Complete beatdown. 23 yards total offense in the 1st half!

Strange thing was KC kept Saquon in check.Thought he'd go off if the Eagles won convincingly. Turns out Mahomes is human when he's got pressure in his face.

In the superbowl 2 years back Eagles came in with 70 sacks for the season but couldn't get near Mahomes. Eagles complained a lot about the awful turf in arizona that day. Wonder what would have happened that day without the sodfather

Someone summed up SB perfectly.

I do not like the Chiefs. I am not a fan of the Eagles either. I feel neither way about the way the National Anthem was performed. Kendrick Lamar’s music is not my forte, but it is to some people. This is the problem with the Super Bowl and why so many people are growing tired of it. It is an elitist contest. Everyday people can’t even afford to go, with the average ticket being $6000. I used to really enjoy watching, but I really don’t anymore because it’s all about hype, what famous people attended, who got cheered, who got booed, did you like the halftime show, I loved/hated the Star-Spangled Banner, this commercial, that commercial. They made a big deal about 103,000 prople attending when almost 110,000 people attended a Manchester United-Real Madrid friendly (practice/charity) match in 2014. The best thing about the Super Bowl is that it means it’s almost baseball season.

Because Hurts stepped up. Other than the interception, don't think he made any mistakes. Scrambled and extended plays well and got 70+ rush yards

Tampa showed the blueprint on how to beat them a few years ago, so we already knew that it's definitely possible when you make him run for his life.

Lots of people quoting the saying that the game is won in the trenches and it showed yesterday. Eagles O-line was 6'6 and 338lbs on average  That's absolutely massive.

Maybe but it’s mostly a load of nothing and it’s basically just a drive by post from someone who clearly doesn’t like the sport (no other posts in this thread) so meh.
Also true. Doesn't mean they don't have a point. The elitism involved in the NFL and big sporting events in general, is becoming a bigger and bigger issue.

I'm not surprising, you like Kendrick Lamar are figureheads of the elite. Unlike Trump and Snoop Dogg.

The ticket price thing is the fair point for sure, but those prices are all resale I believe? It’s basically legalised touting with stubhub et al and it’s the same with everything, absolutely bullshit for sure.

They don't have a point. The issue isn't the Super Bowl it's the same formula that is so popular among americans, he just happens to grew out of it. I personally don't like the surroundings and only care about the game but it would be a lie to suggest that it's the Super Bowl's fault, the side spectacles are simply not my thing. The same way I don't care about ceremonies for other competitions whether it's led by Upa dupla or Tutankhamun after Dark.

I don't think it is just that. It is the obscene amount of advertising even between ad breaks and the nationalist symbolism everywhere. I know that is rampant in the regular season and in no way exclusive to the SB. But the SB is the ultimate culmination of all that is bad about the modern USA and is an obvious and fair target for broader criticism.
As a fan myself, I get why other fans are defensive about this. Because it is a beautiful game and it is annoying when outsiders make their stupid jokes about it. But when they are right, they are right.

Isn't that a typical young American male these days?

The day after the super bowl is always a sad one, when the realisation hits that there's 7 whole months until the new season.
Wait what? Me and my mate was planning on making it a Sunday night thing from like next week

While it’s not exactly revolutionary insight, a common theme in the pros and college playoff success lately has been a solid OL. Not always enabling high scoring or even elite QB play, just controlling the game.

Maybe OGs are underpaid? I bet Harbaugh will have the OL full of hog mollys in LA, which is just great for the AFC West.

Didn't post last night as I was too busy enjoying the game and having a Superbowl Party with my son and friends.

feck the Chiefs. Finally they got found out. I was dreading a repeat of last year but the Eagles were just on another fecking level. Mahomes and Reid's bitchplay of stifling defensive tactics and then when in possession Mahomes edging up the pitch with either short runs or 4 yard throws was not only found out, it was exploited and turned against them. I wish I put a bet on interceptions. Mahomes went 290 games without throwing an interception but had SIX last night. Almost 7. Hurts was on another level and they knew the Chiefs would target Barkley so they mainly used other players to compensate and because of that, the Chiefs didn't look like they had a plan at all.

The best part is when desperation took over and they had to go for it Mahomes threw some absolute beautiful passes. Showing they can play attractive football, just prefer to take no risks at all, play like a bunch of pussies and ruin games through defensive boredom. It was fun watching him and Reid look lost and clueless and knowing they were beat.

The only thing worse than the Chiefs performance was that halftime nonsense. Without a doubt the worst halftime show I have ever seen in over 40 years of watching the Superbowl. Absolute garbage.

feck the Chiefs

Fly Eagles Fly!

Can't wait for the draft picks and next season to start.

Love the general hate-the-chiefs pattern but what is this bold bit?!

It was a stat that came up during the match. I did think it sounded off but Jason Bell and Osi mentioned it too. Maybe it was plays/passes? Maybe it was minutes, but I am certain they reported it as I wrote it. It's a distinct possibility I read and heard it wrong as we were having a blast with the game. Regardless it was still a record going in to the Superbowl one that was instead replaced by a stat he won't ever want reminding of six interceptions in a Superbowl. gutted.

He had two INT‘s. The number six might refer to the sacks he took.

if it was sacks then im pretty sure the the whole thing is wrong, he took a sack just the previous game against the Bills.

I agree with the gist of that post, I don't have any team I root for in the NFL but rooted against KC this time because their playstyle has been dead boring since that shellacking by Tampa. Of course part of it is them being the victim of their own success by the NFL system but it's well past time they reconfigure that offense and offer something better for the neutrals. It's a sham that they almost went undefeated with doinks, bad snap, and last minute field goals in the regular season in low scoring affairs. If Josh Allen didn't choke in the AFCCG they might well have lost at home, and we would've gotten a better SB out of it.

It was passing attempts, not 290 games of course. He's on 133 NFL games in his whole career.
