NFL 2024 | Christmas Day Double Header

In theory the best place for Darnold is Minneapolis but I wonder what is the next best place? Which team can provide him similar infrastructure and need a QB?
He has likely benefitted enormously from such a bright HC as KOC, that won't be available to him in other environments.

The Giants and Raiders need a QB but will probably draft someone high in the first round. Seattle and NOLA could be options but I have no idea how the contract situations with Geno and Carr are. New Orleans more so than Seattle should they hire someone like Ben Johnson or Joe Brady as HC imo.

Gibbs is getting an ass whooping tonight.

Edit: 2 days ago. His ass has probably already been whooped.

The mention of Johnson and Brady is pretty both seem to be QB friendly. Maybe the Titans?

The interesting thing about Darnold is that he has all the tools to be an above average starter, his only flaws this season are that he sometimes tries to force the ball to his #1 target and he focuses a bit too much on deep balls, but the latter is not helped by the fact that KOC loves it.

Funnily enough, I want to see what KOC can do with Daniel Jones.

Chicago when KOC joins them

Niners play McCaffrey on IR again. Season done. He has wrecked 1000s of fantasy managers this year. Glad I didn’t get the #1 pick.

Nothing hurts more than this. Reminds me of the time I had first pick and used it on Le'Veon Bell the year the steelers didn't want to pay up.

This is bonkers, we still have 5 games to go...

Also the Niners are cooked. CMC likely won't be as good as last year ever again, Deebo is getting up there in age, Aiyuk coming of a complicated ACL injury, Kittle wrong side of 30, Trent Williams is getting older.

And they're going to need to pay a not-top 10 QB an absolute shitload of money very soon. They'd be better off letting him test the market.

Can they like not pay QB and just gamble on a draft pick, i mean if your QB wont accept offer that matches more his value rather than mental market, maybe improve in other areas and hope for the best for a QB on lower pay.

Edit: Dunno how certain situations have impact on teams cap, when you just let players go

Oh wait we’re on bye week. Ignore me.
Yeah you're both on a bye this week. The bye teams are a bit faded but it's not very clear (just compare Houston/Baltimore to the Chargers on the right).

It would've been even more extreme if the Colts didn't have that last gasp comeback drive against the Pats last weekend.

Good. They deserve it.

Feel Lawrence is lightweight , may have issues going forward. Missed too much time from last season as well. Doug is probably gone after this season, whatever happened to Etienne.

Bit of overreaction, no? They were without CMC for the first 7 games + Aiyuk missing camp for his contract. Purdy had a couple of nightmare games but overall he’s been one of the better QBs this season. This current group probably have at least 1 top year left in them imo, it’s not like they can purposefully suck enough for the rest of the season for the draft.

Yep, Niners are done for this season. Will have to juggle a ton of positions in the offseason, pay QB (dont think Kyle will go for anyone else) and address RB, for his system to work RB is essential. Why folks think Deebo is old. Dude’s got atleast 2-3 good seasons left in him.

Will they? or is he just a one season wonder
I think that’s harsh. He’s played well in the majority of their games this season, it’s just that his off games are really atrocious.

One thing that’s clear though, Shanahan’s system doesn’t work without a great RB. They can gamble on CMC for yet another season but it doesn’t look good atm. Missed 7 games, back for 2 and now he’s out again.

But maybe not considering the injuries to Tua and Lawrence essentially ruined those team’s seasons. Apart from the Bengals, I didn’t expect any other team to compete for the play offs. I do remember people thinking that the Jets might compete though

Really wanted a packers win but they made far too many mistakes. Christian Watson with two brutal mistakes cost them the game

Great game. LOVED the 4th down call from Detroit on their final drive. Deserved to win just for that.

Where the feck was Jayden Reed

Lions are a wagon - interesting to see if they can keep going in the play offs

Think that's a bit of OTT praise considering they might not have been in that spot had Campbell punted it from their own 30 instead of recklessly going for it. The Lions going for it on every 4th and short is basically a given now, no matter where they are on the field and what the score is. It will backfire in the playoffs against the better teams, just like it did last year vs the 49ers.

You're just jealous because the team you support has a malfunctioning offense.

Also there are no better teams at the moment. They're the best team in the league. The ony thing keeping them from a SB appearance is the shitload of defensive injuries they have, by far the most in the league.

Oh yeah. I'm totally jealous of the Lions. Like...what? I've said the same thing constantly for over a year.

It so strange how shortsighted NFL commentators can be sometimes. Pretty much everyone I see or read suggest that the Vikings should give a long term contract to Darnold because he led the Vikings to 10-2. Now that argument would make sense if it was strictly true but the reality is that even though he has been good, the main reason the Vikings have their current record is because they loaded their defense during free agency with the money that didn't go to Cousins. So the question that people should ask themselves is whether Darnold is that good that you would be willing to weaken your defense in order to have him long term?

It's as if they want teams to be mismanaged.

It's a strange one, they are very good and versatile but there is also an overreaction with every positive things they do. In fact it hit me this week that the Lions have more one score wins than the Vikings but the latter are criticized for too much one score wins.

I wouldn't be rushing to announce them as the best team

They have the best record and are playing the best football. As of this moment there's nothing remotely controversial to call them the best team.

It's not rushing to either, we're 14 weeks into the season. It doesn't mean they'll get anywhere in the playoffs, obviously.

Having the best record doesn't make you the best team. I think that they are but at the same time I have seen them against all NFC North teams and there is barely any gap between these teams. If I'm being cautious I would say that the BIlls, Eagles and Lions are at the same level, then you have the Chiefs, Vikings, Ravens, Packers and maybe someone else in a second group that isn't far from the top.

They have the joint best record BTW with the chiefs. I think the Bills game will tell us more clearly about where they stand

Not so sure about that RE the Bills. The Bills have one of the worst run defenses in the league and rushing is the Lion's strength so expect the Lions to look incredible on offense. If the Bills put up 30+ it might tell us a bit more about the Lions defense at this present moment but they are pretty banged up and the defense they'll have in the playoffs should in theory be better.

If they hadn’t lost Hutch I wonder if it’d even be an argument.

The Lions have clearly been the best team in the league to this point. Play offs is a different animal though.
