NFL 2023

Looks like the Cardinals are the frontrunners to sign Caleb Williams. Putting down their marker early.

The Chiefs have had Ihmir Smith-Marsette this off season and he's been so good in our last last 2 games with 90+ yards and a TD in both of them. Given what he's done he really does deserve a roster spot over some of the other WRs like Justin Watson and Skyy Moore but he's likely to get cut regardless. If we don't sign him up I hope he finds a team.

Disappointing, especially with a new QB under center…

e - some are hinting that his career might be over. Even more disappointing.

Saw a rumor Dallas might be in for Zach Ertz as the Cardinals are in tank mode. Jerry turns 81 in a few weeks and he should go all in like the Rams a few years ago if he wants to get back to the big game.

Thought they seemed happy with what they've found in Ferguson.

Fingers crossed Dallas never need to rely on this backup right tackle

Please delete this. If the Vikings spot that highlight they will try everyhing to sign this fine lineman.

The niners traded up to the number 3, so not quite accurate there. Last time they had a top pick was when they got Nick Bosa with the 2nd pick in 2019. Funnily enough given the previous post here the number one pick was Kyler Murray, wonder who had the better pick.

It's just whenever a team selected at a 1-5 spot. Hence why the Broncos weren't in 2023 despite being a bottom 5 team.

Edit: Also in 2013 KC had the first pick and ended up with the best player in the draft: Travis Kelce in the third round.

Just watched the first 3 eps of hard knocks.

Think it'll be decent if the Jets go well, though it's tough, it's such a PR piece on Rodgers it's wild.

Get Up had some hefty criticism for Jerry Jones over the trade for Lance. He apparently didn't discuss with staff, which surprised Dak and McCarthy and I guess many others in the organization; I presume he discussed with Stephen and Jerry Jr. It was stated that no other team offered near the level draft pick Dallas did, and many presumed he'd either be retained for another year or would be released and available as a free agent. Buffalo made an offer but has been reported it was not near the Dallas offer.

From my understanding, San Fran get hit with the signing bonus dead money and Dallas gains only his salary and any unearned bonuses like roster and workouts. He earns $940k salary this season and $1.055m next season, but there is a $4.256m roster bonus in 2024. Which means Dallas likely keeps him because if not they just gave a 4th rd pick for a practically nothing.

It remains to be seen if Lance plays a meaningful snap in 2023 and possibly in 2024. This is probably a developmental crapshoot that points to Dak's imminent contract decision - extend or let go. Looks like a hefty dead cap hit if they move on from Dak in 2024.

Trade for Trey Lance gives Cowboys some Dak Prescott leverage
Prescott’s four-year, $160 million deal has a massive cap charge of $59.4 million looming for 2024. Many assumed at the outset of the offseason that, eventually, the Cowboys and Dak would work out an extension. But if Dak wants market-level pay without market-level performance, that makes things a little tricky for the Cowboys.

What I’m hearing from 9ers side of things would support the suggestion that the Dallas offer was very different to everything else we were being offered

The rumours around the various media twitters is that the Cowboys offered a pick at least 2 rounds higher than anyone else.

Thankfully we were able to offset our shitting the bed with a drafted kicker with bringing Brady in a few years later.

Niners seemingly hedged their bets with regards to the drafted kicker by trading for one. Both are now injured…..

We Traded Ihmir Smith-Marsette to the Panthers for a "2025 conditional 7th round swap". That must be the NFL equivalent of trading for a packet of crisps

I'd have rather given Smith-Marsette a chance and tried to trade Justin Watson or Skyy Moore. Ah well.

I still think Skyy is a decent bet to do a decent job for you this season, though betting on any KC WR to stand out is a fool's errand at this point.

The hope is that we just continue how we were last year with Kelce and six WR2s.

I hope I'm wrong about Skyy but from what I've seen so far, I think he's going to be nothing more than a depth player.

Ps. I'm going to cry if Clyde Edwards-Helaire is on our 53man roster.

If anybody is interested, I'll set one up. We're stuck on time but hopefully we can get 12.

There’s a dynasty league and two standard year to year ones, but if you post in the fantasy thread you might be able to generate enough interest in another.

That's an absolute mad take.

Rather give a chance to a 5th rounder who's on his third team in 3 years and has yet to do anything meaningful in the NFL after two seasons, than see what you have in your 2nd rounder (who is a year younger as well) who showed promising signs as a rookie, while Andy Reid is notorious for very carefully and slowly incorporating rookie WRs into his system. Not saying Moore will definitely work out or anything, but Smith-Marsette is a nobody.
