NFL 2023

you missed my white text. I don’t have much faith in mattison tbh. I think it will be a committee leaning more on mcbride.

I saw your white text, that's the only reason I responded to your post.

let’s hope you’re correct. I have him on my team hence the fml.

He has already shown that he is good but the Vikings RB room is full, so from a fantasy standpoint I wouldn't be confident about the production of any of them. Though last season he was often the short yardage and goal line back which is how he got his TDs, it may remain the same or someone like McBride could be given that role.

I’ll take your word for it. you watch more vikings games than me.

Either I totally missed this or it didn't garner any meaningful press that it deserved (which would be terrible)...

Mattison is pretty good and a lot cheaper, the only question is whether he can be a factor in the passing game.
I think the bigger question is whether he can handle the workload of an RB1. He acted like one when Cook missed games in 2021 (32, 32, 25, ... touches per game) but he's never had to do that over an entire season in his four years in the league.

McBride had an amazing rushing profile in college but was non-existant in the passing game, I think drafting him made a lot of sense for you.

I've just finished the first episode of Quarterback. Kirk Cousins is Ned Flanders. He even uses the word "shoot" like he's swearing

I like the bit when his wife was watching one of his games and she said something like "I was geting too stressed, I just had to close my eyes and listen to my worship music". All of the Cousins are the Flanders. Kirk is like if the colour beige was a person.

Fecking hell, if the caption wasn't there I would've thought this was a high school kid getting a run out with the Cowboys. There's no way this guy can handle carries on a consistent basis in the regular season without folding in half.

In fairness, I don't think that will be the expectation. The guys does have a pretty explosive highlight reel from college though tbf..

He I think he might get some 3th down work in a Darren Sproles kind of role.

He looks like he won a contest.

That Sean Payton stuff… all a bit silly really. Can’t imagine it being that far from the truth given how underperforming the broncos were last year though no need to comment in that way. Weird.

My initial reaction was to laugh, but it’s entirely unnecessary and a dick move really.

I read that it's generally a 2-6 weeks thing, better to err on the side of caution right now instead of rushing him back because those things can linger if return to play is too early. Funny thing is that he hasn't had a full preseason in any of his seasons in the league: 2020 was Covid, 2021 he was still dealing with his ACL tear and 2022 he had his appendix removal. I wouldn't be bothered by a lack of preseason action if I were the Bengals, but would definitely want to make sure that he's a 100% full go by Wk 1 if possible.

Payton possibly being a dick was probably not an unknown quantity in the hiring process but there were still several unhappy people in the building I'm sure.
