NFL 2023

Eagles drafted well overall, but I'm surprised they didn't draft another inside linebacker or a punter. They have no LB depth, and Siposs is probably the worst starting punter in the league.

Looking over summaries of the Denver draft ratings, as my knowledge of college players is non-existent, and they’re absolutely all over the place, ranging from B+ to D- which seems really weird.

Then I read the notes and the crap scores are all basically saying “didn’t have early round picks because of the Wilson trade”, how the hell is that helpful in grading the actual selections made?

Idiots.

Basically the same situation for the Niners

Ive been under the impression that these draft grades are basically a load of bollocks. Pre draft each website gives their player rankings and where they project the players to go. The grades after the draft are essentially just comparing each player's draft position to the website's projections so the teams with the best grades have players who were ranked and projected to be drafted higher than what they ended up being. The rankings don't really take into consideration what a team actually needs and what situation a team finds itself in when making a pick.

So is Malik Cunningham the new QB turned WR for the Patriots?

In my experience, draft grades are generally as valuable as mock drafts - all a bit of fun to drive clicks, but rarely informative of how good players actually are and whether they will succeed as pros.

Sean Tucker is a nice landing spot with Tampa

Going through the later rounds and it’s crazy to me that Sean Clifford got drafted by the Packers in the 5th round

Look how pumped the Lions were in drafting Gibbs.... Starts at 5:05

They had a chance to get Lou Hedley, the coolest punter ever. But alas, he ended up in New Orleans.

Who’s your NFL team, WI? Did you latch onto any growing up out west or through your travels?
My wife is from GB, so I have no say in the decision. Grew up a rams fan. They left. Switched to Raiders. They left. Gave up on the NFL after that.

They still have a 1st left next year from the Watson trade - had 12 picks this year and 11 next year so definitely draft capital enough to make that move imo. Actually for all the crap I've given them, love how they played this out. Get your potential franchise QB at #2 instead of fecking around and then give your new HC and former Niners DC his guy on defense. Loved this move, although sticking to #12 and drafting some help for Stroud would've been nice as well - guess that's what they'll focus on from now on in this draft, or at least they should.

Winners: as always, Eagles with a very solid round as well imo - best prospect in the class and another Georgia defender to add to an already stacked front seven, that's just scary. Great move by the Cardinals also to get some additional draft capital and still get the guy they want. Same for the Pats, moving down and getting a top-10 player with Gonzalez was a great move. Vice versa the Steelers did well to move up a few spots (and more importantly ahead of the Jets, I think) to get Pickett some much-needed protection. And lastly I think the Seahawks had a great round, they're set at CB for the foreseeable future now and they have their replacement for Lockett next year or the year after that with the best WR in this draft. Still wonder if they would've taken Richardson at #5 if the Colts didn't - might've changed the entire draft because then the Lions wouldn't have traded down at #6.

What I didn't like was the Bears not drafting Carter, but I guess them wanting to protect Fields a bit more makes sense as well. Also think the Lions panicked when the Seahawks nabbed Witherspoon in front of them - essentially what many thought that Gibbs' role would be in the NFL is exactly what D'Andre Swift does best, so not sure how they'll fit both of them into their offense.

For fantasy: weird to see how the fantasy community was right on Kincaid, while Michael Mayer was widely regarded as (by far) the top-rated TE in this class at the conclusion of the college football season. Zay Flowers getting first round capital is great, Zay Flowers paired to the Ravens' notoriously bad offense for WRs: not so much. I wished the Chargers would've gone Addison over Johnston but the selection makes sense I guess. Don't like Addison stuck behind JJ now. And Richardson, fourth overall fecking hell. Gonna be a fun ride to see what he can do.

Oh and Will Levis though :( Some may find it funny but I always feel for the guys being in the green room and ending up not getting selected, that must be tough.
Sticking to most of what I wrote earlier last week but I've already come around on Addison to the Vikings. Could be exactly like the Devonta situation in Philly with AJ Brown - Addison could run riot in KOC's offense with opposing defenses focusing on Jefferson. Adam Thielen ran the second most routes in the entire league last year and he's gone now.

Also Addison's games in Pittsburgh are a very exciting watch. Watching some of his USC stuff, it's mostly Caleb Williams who jumps out to be fair.

The ESPN article mentions he's been at home since the incident and even allowed to work out a few times a week, didn't know that. Wouldn't it make more sense for him to be in jail straight away or don't those years before a conviction count against your total jail time in the US / Nevada?

Bet his agent was thrilled with that one

All factual. But they can't say "we don't have a frigging clue, you'll have to wait two or three years to see if any of these guys can actually play"

Am I being gatekeeped out of this one too?

Great joke. Haha!!
I've gone back and read what I posted - I wasn't joking at all. I thought you were suggesting I said you couldn't join or something, said nothing of the like. You just didn't sign-up.

And you're the one calling me an idiot.
Yep I'm the idiot then. Totally missed your first post, hence no quote. Genuinely because you're on ignore and so I don't get notifications. Much apologies. I will send you an invite and boot the last one in.
