Jimmy G was going to be an unrestricted free agent at the end of the season with no need to sign an extension right now. If he left as a free agent the likely best they get is a 3rd rounder in the 90's range. This deal gives them a 2nd rounder.

Don’t we still get compensatory picks?

I think Bellichek believes he can get a few more years out of his current starter and Brady apparently believes he can play well into his 40s, so as long as its working (he's on a near record setting pace this year at 40), they should be ok. They are also probably factoring in the calculus that this next draft could be one of the best ever in terms of QB talent, so they should be able to snag someone like Josh Rosen or Sam Darnold (who are both only 20 right now) and develop them for a few years behind Brady.

@Rado_N @Raoul

Just read an article on NFL.com. Apparently Lynch has practised just 3 times since returning from injury. Seems highly unlikely he will get the nod if you guys do opt for a QB change (which apparently is no guarantee in itself).

Interestingly I saw a tweet from Schefter earlier saying the Broncos are considering a change at QB and if it does happen it'll be Lynch that gets the nod.

In which case I think Simean will start for another week at least and Lynch will go against us or the week after.

Basically I don’t think you’ll ever bench Simean for Osweiler to then bench him for Lynch. So if Lynch gonna get the nod ahead of Osweiler, I think you end up keeping Simean in for now.

His twitter hints at otherwise.
Yeah I've just had a chance to look on twitter and rumours are flying everywhere. fecks sake :nervous:

EDIT: Sometimes it’s not just about where you been.. It’s where your headed to #JuiceUp

Didnt expect them to move Ajayi like that. Perhaps worried about his fitness? Knee issues?

Apparently there is a few things. Injury history, Falling out with Gase and concern about his celebrity off the pitch.

Gutted he has gone though. Probably my favourite Dolphin from the last few years. Partly because he is English and partly because i'm partial to a good running back.

From a fins fan on another board.....

Great move for the Phins. On the surface it seems like we didnt get much but...
  • Averaging 3.4 YPC
  • Bad Knees, only practices once a week. Most people think he has a year or two left
  • Can't pass protect
  • Got a higher pick in return (4th) than what they used on him (5th)
  • Avergaed 4.9 last year, but that was aided by 3 ridiculous games. If you look at the other 12 games he played in he averaged 3.7YPC.
After last weeks embarrassment, Gase was ready to send a message. This is the type of move Pats would make. Gase is the man, just give him another year to get this roster right.

What? I had no idea! ;)

Still think its a good move for Eagles, Dolphins just doing a full reset.
