After watching the patriots game I can't feel bad if they win it again. Tom Brady is just phenomenal.
Yeah he is something else alright. I just remembered the last convo we had a week back.
Two crows just flew right by me.
Then I saw an eagle sitting on my neighbors tree.
Is this because it's been cold or because I have been chosen?
Aren't you in the US? Could be a sign that Eagles will win the Super Bowl
Well looks like I was right and it is a sign. I know you are rooting for the Pats, but I hope you see an Eagle everyday till the Super Bowl is over!

At a high level, there’s two types - exclusive and non-exclusive.

Exclusive - the team retains the rights to the player for one year. Player can’t negotiate with other teams or sign with other teams.

Non-exclusive. The team retains rights to the pkyer for one year. Player can negotiate with other teams. Franchise tagger has right to match whatever the other team offers. If player signs with other team, the tagger gets 2 first round draft picks.

In terms of salary, guaranteed in both cases. And also in both cases, equal to the average of the 5 best salaries in the league at that position or 120% of current deal, whichever is higher.

If Bell gets exclusive tags and holds out for the season (which he won’t) he wouldn’t be able to negotiate with other teams and he would probably be fined his entire salary by the Steelers.
thanks.

can someone get tagged twice as he was tagged this season and now might be tagged again next season

thanks.

Yes but the 2nd year they MUST pay him 120% of the prior years salary if they do it a 3rd season it is 144% of the previous seasons salary. Plus they'd have a pretty pissed off player on their hands.

At least those were the rules last time I looked.

More football played by NFL rejects in the off season. It's not even going to rival the NFL, Vince said there won't be any investors or franchises so it's basically Vince and his $100M going up against 32 billionaires and a league worth billions. Vince doesn't have the financial power to compete with the NFL and the way he talked about the XFL in that press conference just told me that he has no idea what he's doing. It's going to fail miserably again.

Let's not be too hasty judging based on old XFL. NFL ratings have been on the decline and it has been on the news for more wrong reasons than the right ones. For me, it has reached a point when it has become too commercial.

Less cheerleaders/gimmicks and more football. Shorter version with game end to end taking just 2 hrs. Lesser rules, potentially rougher plays and potentially lesser stupid rules. Points to be a NFL Lite, a quicker, crisper and potentially more raw version of the NFL.

There is a big gap between College Football and NFL. It may be stylistically similar to minor league baseball. Vince says it'll not be a developmental league for NFL, but I'm curious to see how that happens.

The criminal record thing is dumb. The NFL is not over-run with convicted criminals. In fact the people who go on the most about NFL players all being criminals are usually the same types of people who call all the black players thugs, over react to the kneeling during the national anthem and loveTrump. So there is a good look at the demographic the XFL will be catering to.

He will run into trouble if he tries to have contracts that get in the way of any players moving to the NFL. That will drive away many of the better players who he will need.

The quality will likely be lower than Div 1 college football.

Now Vince is right about not needing network TV given the other ways he can broadcast games. Well to a point. We know streaming is in part a reason for declining ratings. How willing will people be to see low rate football and how many of such people will there be willing to pay for it?

The fantasy tie in will be tough initially in that the players and teams will be somewhat unknown. Not even sure it will be a big draw for the league. Plenty of fantasy football lovers will not be looking for another outlet to play. How many will be?

People keep saying this about the Steelers - except, we all know...they'll mess up somehow. Be it, ill discipline or through injury. It is shocking how little Big Ben and Tom Brady have played each other in the playoffs considering how good both franchises & quarterbacks have been.
How accurate was this?

Yeah the Jets are fecked up. The Bills seem to be giving up on this season also but have a ways to go to catch up with the Jets in the race to the bottom.

With the Dolphins QB situation, the Pats have to be loving this, very possible for them to pick up 6 wins within the division now.
The Bills made the playoffs, shows what I know. They should have a good draft though!

The One Patriots Stat That Eagles Fans Probably Don’t Want To Hear
https://fivethirtyeight.com/feature...ably-dont-want-to-hear/?addata=espn:frontpage

Since 2001, the year that Tom Brady took over as starting quarterback, the Patriots are 15-0 in the playoffs against a new opponent and 12-9 in a rematch from the regular season. Every playoff exit in the Belichick era was a rematch, including season sweeps at the hands of the 2005 Broncos, 2006 Colts, 2011 Giants, 2012 Ravens and 2015 Broncos. The 2010 Jets also beat the Patriots in the playoffs, despite losing 45-3 in Foxborough just six weeks earlier.

New England’s 12-9 record is perfectly fine by normal standards, but it does not look that exceptional when 10 other teams are also at least .500. As for the first-time meetings in the playoffs, the Patriots’ 15-0 record is off the charts. We lowered the minimum requirement to four games because these matchups are less common, but the closest competition to New England is Green Bay (5-1) and Philadelphia (6-2). Two of those Eagles wins came this season when Philadelphia won their games against Atlanta and Minnesota, facing each for the first time.

Media Day is now Super Bowl Opening Night ( put in prime time, put it on TV, make some money, but also let the fans see it live). Tonight 8:00PM EST.

Players both love and hate this. Good to get a lot the interviews out of the way then focus on game prep and they get some funny questions but they get some awful ones. They all are happy when it's over.

For some lessor known players it's an hour of doing nothing. How crap is that? Most often asked question they get is "who are you?"

Been watching a few old Super Bowls on YouTube. Complete games no commercials. Just watched the Bills shit themselves vs Dallas, started out okay. Had an early 7-0 lead. The down 14-7 they had a chance to tie the game when Ken Norton makes the play of the game stuffing Kenny Davis on 3 and goal at the 1. Next play you would sweat the Cowboys knew the play. They switched to extra DB's and interception. Bills did get to 14-10 but then the wheels fell off.

Despite all the hoopla over the fumble when he could have scored (at that point meaningless to the outcome), Lett played a good game.

Friend of mine was at the game said the Bills looked tense starting with pregame warm ups. Even when they started slow the Cowboys were lose and happy. Dancing to the music played in the stadium during commercial breaks, laughing, etc.

Besides getting hurt you could see Jim Kelly break mentally early in the game.

Season tickets renewal start today for anybody going to London games. (well Wembley games)
NO transaction fee if done today.

Still no news on the new Spurs stadium game. Mad.

Do you know if we can change the seats?
And have prices gone up?

Prices look same. You can change seats (as I did that two years ago to get better ones and paid the difference)
but obviously only if seats are available.
So for example, I am 7 rows from the front behind the goals. Around there, you will see scattered tickets. A few two seats together (but you gotta do it quick time).

Prices actually have gone up by about 15% this year. Checked against what I paid for same seats last year.

That was such a beautiful game for me. Just before my 17th b-day and finally got to see my hometown (well near my hometown) team win the big game.

Dallas was awesome in that game. Looked to be building a long term dynasty. If not for the Jimmy-Jerry fallout I wonder if they might have managed more than 3 titles.

KC trade Alex Smith to Washington

Redskins extend Smith’s contract 4 years

Cousins to free agency

Jacksonville should sign Cousins.

Can’t.

Bortles had wrist surgery, keeps him on the roster and past the date which guarantees his contract for the next season @ $19M / Jax won’t be able to cut him now.

Guess Jags hampered by cap space to pursue Smith. As that price is very reasonable (both salary level and compensation for the trade to the Chiefs). Perhaps though may be that they didn’t rate Smith, or even were completely blindsided by how quickly and early this deal went down. All possible.
