Thanks for the responses, thought I was being stupid even asking.

I would've thought it's a game nicely set up for some running moves like you see backs in rugby pulling off. I guess possession and territory is too important and it brings a greater risk of handling errors.

Bit sad I have to go to sleep now I actually understand what's going on.

My halftime entertainment is doing laundry that I've put off for weeks knowing that I'll have time during the Super Bowl halftime show while Madonna's performing.

I'm excited.

To be honest I'd probably join you if I had the chance. Half-time show in recent years have been incredibly dull.

It's a bit like heavily structured rugby. It's a lot less free flowing and you have a discrete number of attempts to move the ball forward so there's time to plan out your plays. Also you get one forward throw per play.

Jesus Christ, is every game like this? 2 minutes of gameplay followed by a 5 minute break?

It's not really 5 minutes, but yeah they have breaks. The team is quite big with different teams. So if you manage to get past the yellow lines all the way down, the same group of players stay on the field the 'offense' but if you give the ball away or score for example, it's the other teams turn and they swap their defence for their offense. Then you need to swap your own players, so the offence all run off and the defence come on.

So you get a lot of breaks, not really 5 minutes, but a fair few.

EDIT: As said below, this is also a quick game really and not the norm as such.

Good D that time. Other than 12 men on the field which led to their TD the defense has been reasonably good.

It doesn't really. 2 very different games and should be enjoyed as such. That's like asking rounders fans how it compares to real cricket.

Well I meant in terms of enjoyment and what is the better game to watch.

Anyway, I'll stop bugging you all with my noobie questions.

I think the fact that he's a pretentious little cnut is the "something" you're looking for. Levysohn is the only one I can actually stand - he's quite decent I think. The rest are absolutely useless. Tommy is by far the worst of them though.

 That's it! He does the CL recap of one match as well.

Having Luna doing some interviewing is just taking the piss though, suprised she haven't wanked over and mentioned Barcelona in some way yet

It depends really, you enjoy them in different ways because they are different games. NFL is a lot slower, it's a lot about tactics, you get enjoyment for example at seeing them all line up, seeing the ball passed (snapped) to the quarterback, and then seeing whether he runs it himself, dummies a pass, throws a great down field pass that gets caught, someone getting tackled hard, etc etc. The same way you'd get excited in football if someone did a trick to get past a player or Scholes smashed a downfield pass that picked out a man. Don't worry about the questions either, I wasn't meaning to come across like that.

It also depends on the game, don't let watching a game spoil it for you, imagine a neutral NFL fan tuning in to see what the fuss in football is about and watching QPR vs Bolton on your typical night and thinking it was shit.

Cannot stop their running game which sets up their play action passes. Giants doing a good job not just moving the chains but taking a lot of time on their drives.

Yeah, they've upped their game by dragging her in as well for this. Can't stand her either. She'll find a way to talk about Spanish football at some point, don't worry.

Big penalty means they have to punt. Almost caught though :nervous:

That punter is MVP right now.

Yeah it's a bit like chess/war but occasionally an exceptional pawn can thwart a queen due to exceptional skill or an unlikely burst of willpower. Once you actually learn to appreciate the stop-start nature of the game, it's a bit more enjoyable and a lot less annoying.

Great punt... and yeah Jveezy chess is a great comparison. Football is very free flowing, NFL is very stop start but that's part of the beauty. It stops and when it starts it's a new tactic. You watch it start to watch the tactic, ball is snapped, in comes the defence, will they sack the quarterback, will he get the pass away, he waits and waits and waits and boom fires it down field caught by the receiveer.

Or the receiver drops it and you go 'oooh' like we just hit the crossbar with a free kick, or the defence tackles the QB before he throws the ball and you marvel at the great tackle, or the QB fakes a throw, runs it himself and makes the 10 yards like AOC skinned that defender the other day.

You'll get used to it Wayne. You appreciate it for different reasons to football.
