Nfl 2010-2011

At least he learned how to hold onto the ball.

Two real intriguing games tonight... The Giants need to keep pace with Philly, and a win would make things look good for them... However, a loss opens up a pandoras box for that last playoff spot, and makes the divisional races a little less competative.

The other game is pretty big too... a Baltimore win almost seals the AFC wild-card spots, but a loss even allows Houston back into it with an outside shot...

Anyone else see the Jets coach trip up the Dolphins player on the sideline when he was chasing a punt? It was like a scene from a movie. I wonder what will happen about that.

Fine, at best a couple of regular season matches suspended.

Real pussy move, tripping is just not on. But I'm glad he didn't try to downplay what he did, and came out with a contrite apology.

Funny as feck, if the NFL have any integrity they will let him get away with itand make him first ballot hall of fame material.

49ers just a game off the lead in the NFC West. The play-offs are still possible!

that division is ridiculous.

my superbowl prediction now would be falcons v pats with pats to win that one. Falcons will get thruogh due to home advantage which I think they've all but sewn up

The streak is dead, Favre is inactive for the Vikings game - could his career also have finished today?

You watch - the NFC West winner is going to be 8-8 or worse and some 9-7 or 10-6 team is going to miss the playoffs because of it. The NFL will definitely change the rule for the next season. If a club wins the division at 8-8 or worse, and six other teams have a better record then that club shouldn't be in the fecking playoffs.

I'm pretty sure it will be 7-9 actually. There's actually a fairly good chance of a three way tie for 7-9 with the 49ers getting the tiebreaker.

Of course I'm biased when I say this because it's horribly convenient for me, but keep in mind the Chargers finished 2008 at 8-8 and won the division and then beat the Colts in their Wild Card matchup. If the 49ers win the NFC West, we'll end up playing either the Falcons or the Saints, who both BARELY beat us this year.

That said of course the rule needs to be changed. I've always felt that there should be more teams in the playoffs anyways, but how to do it without getting rid of byes is a bit tricky. Of course the easiest thing to do is to just let the top 6 in from each conference. There's enough common opponents to justify that.

You want even more teams in the playoffs?

I'm barely happy with things as they are...I think more teams would devalue the regular season even more.

I'm not really sure. I think with other American sports, there's a pretty clear line for which teams deserve to get in and which teams don't since there's so many games. That's a lot less clear in the NFL. That said I don't know if more playoff teams is the solution. It's just an idea I wouldn't be opposed to.

once again flacco gets his offence going and then goes into his shell and welcomes the opposition back into it..

overtime!

perhaps not but it seems to be a recurring theme with the ravens where they get off to a hot start and then completely go in their shells.

play off picture doesn't get much clearer after today's games giants tied at the top and ravens remain in the hunt one game behind the steelers in the division

He is shit these days I dont see why they are criticizing Shanahan over benching him, he has had his worst year since he was a rookie, if anything he should be blamed for taking part in acquiring him, although that might have been all Danny Sneider

It was all Snyder.

Wanted a big name...I'm not saying Jason Campbell was the answer...but he deserved a real chance with a good coach and a bit of stability.

He is a really poor owner I could see Shanahan getting out of there in a year or two

Dude has a ton of money, and loves the team, but he needs to back the feck up, and let football people, deal with football decisions.

We've wasted so much freaking money over the past few seasons, big free agent signings and just about all have been even bigger flops.

Maybe it's just me being a soft bastard near the holiday period but I love stories like this.

THE PHILADELPHIA Eagles have a secret Santa on their team - and, no, it's not Andy Reid.

While Big Red might have the right physique to play the Big Red Guy, it turns out injured cornerback Ellis Hobbs is the Eagle most likely to be mistaken for Jolly Old St. Nick.

Hobbs, 27, stepped into a South Philadelphia Toys "R" Us yesterday afternoon, smack in the middle of one of those manic Christmas-is-just-a-week-away sales.

No one noticed that an Eagle had landed. There were no cheerleaders flipping through the store, no public-relations handlers handing out photos, no sign even of Swoop, the mascot.

The stage was set for an entirely unremarkable tale. But then Hobbs did something wonderful, something that would make even Ebenezer Scrooge hoot, "God bless us, everyone!"

He approached Jennifer Santoro, who was waiting in line to buy about a hundred bucks worth of toys for her 6-year-old son. With little more than a wink and a touch of his nose, Hobbs offered to pay for her toys.

Santoro, 34, blinked. The first word that came to mind, she said, was "scam," not Santa.

"He said, 'Excuse me miss, I'm Ellis Hobbs from the Philadelphia Eagles. Would you mind if I purchased those toys for you?' " said Santoro, a manager at the Conestoga Bank, on Passyunk Avenue near Moore Street.

"I think I said, 'Get the hell out of here. Why? Are you for real?' I asked for his I.D. I thought it was some kind of scam," she said.

The married father of two explained that he was fortunate to be in a position to make someone else's holiday a little brighter.

Santoro, who was picking up Wii games along with Spider-Man and Iron Man toys for her son, Stephen, finally relented.

"I was literally down to my last hundred dollars for presents. It was so awesome, what he did," she said.

Hobbs kept on playing Santa, too. Santoro said he paid for toys that the woman behind her in line was about to purchase, and might have spread even more holiday cheer after that.

No one knows for sure; Hobbs didn't want to talk about his visit to the Toys "R" Us because he didn't want to make it seem as if he was seeking publicity, said Eagles spokesman Derek Boyko.

Boyko confirmed that Hobbs paid for the toys at the store, on Oregon Avenue near 3rd Street.

Santoro said she was struck all the more by Hobbs' kindness when she went back to work and looked him up on Google.

She learned that he has been haunted by the Grinchlike specter of serious injury ever since he was traded to the Eagles from the New England Patriots in 2009.

He suffered a season-ending neck injury midway through his first season, playing mainly as the team's kick returner.

Any hope of a big rebound season went down the drain on Nov. 21, when Hobbs suffered another season-ending neck injury while returning a kick against the New York Giants. It's unclear if he'll ever play in the NFL again.

"I felt really bad when I read that about him," said Santoro, who lives in South Philly. "If I saw him again, I wouldn't ask for his I.D. I would probably hug him!

"He really wanted to help other people," she said. "Do you ever hear a good story like that?"

Yes, Virginia . . .

Eagles' Hobbs shows profound generosity at local toy store | Philadelphia Daily News | 12/18/2010

I always liked Hobbs as a player and a personality; I feel he got unwarranted stick at times in NE and hope he plays again. He was a good kick returner and a solid number two/three option at CB who was tough and played through injuries. If you let your best corner go and put him alongside Deltha O’Neal and two rookies he was always going to struggle at times. Yes, he was in single coverage on Burress on the play that never happened but he did have a momentum swinging interception (unlike Samuel!) earlier on in the game.

It looks like Rodgers is going to sit out of SNF which is disappointing, was looking forward to it.

The Tebow Era is going to be measured in days as opposed to months or years hopefully

Manning & the Colts start well with a TD on their opening drive. Vick was picked off on the Eagles first drive against the Giants.

Sky Sports are showing coverage from 'the Redzone' and I think this will become a weekly feature. It's pretty awesome, coverage from all the games and no ad-breaks.

Welcome back Anderson, how is it going?

Looks like another concussion for Collie at the Colts.

Flacco playing brilliantly against the champs - the pass to Rice was Bradyesque
