Nfl 2010-2011

I miss the defensive ineptitude of the Raiders. Two huge wins in a row.

That HongKong Suh thing/beast/machine is impressive. Obviously I don’t see that much of Nebraska but I remember someone on here mentioning him last year when I was rambling on about Ngata (MrMarcello I think) and I followed the draft process. Big men holding up the ball like Deion Sanders for a touchdown is silly, but I will let him off.

Yeah, very happy with the Raiders right now, great to see some consistency. It should also be noted we are without Chaz Schillens one of our best recievers and Henderson at DT. I still think our O line needs lots of work but good to see Jason Campbell fitting into the team. The longer he has to work with this offence the better he will get, although im not sure when he will win back the starting spot.

I have a bit of a soft spot for the Lions for some reason. They were so bad but have drafted some solid players in Megatron, Stafford, Best, and of course Suh. Pettigrew also. That is how the draft system should work, unless you are Al Davis of course..

with young's fragile psyche??? i think this is a mistake. once randy starts pounding on him, about this or that, he'll crack.

I don't Fisher can handle Moss. He handled a head case as Fat Albert.
I totally forgot about the Titans as a possible destination for Moss, he could be the missing piece for that team, now Chris Johnson is going to just face 7 or even 6 man box. Scary.
When Britt went down, I thought they were going to struggle, this can end very well for the Titans. Moss knows he can not mess up again. He is on his last life here. Mess with Fisher and end up retired.

Honestly, even with the headache factor, I'm amazed he got as far down the line as the Titans. Are you telling me teams like St. Louis or Jacksonville couldn't have hugely profited from him?

With Rams, definitely no. Young QB, Moss in contract year, will demand ball, he can mess Bradford up for good. No need to bring such a character in.
Jacksonville I am not sure, they might be high on their show at Dallas and don't think hey need him.
It is likely that the Bills and other lowly teams wanted him, but they first contacted him to make sure he wants them as well. Yes, you can claim the player but if he is not going to be happy in the team, why bring such a thing?
So I think Jeff got to Moss first before putting a claim for him.

-Falcons up 14-0 against the Bucs
-Cleveland up 10-0, early against the Pats, but unfortunately I don't expect that to last too long
-Chargers up 14-10 against the Texans
-

with the way the Patriots offense has been functioning of late, I wouldn't bet against it.

Ravens beating Dolphins, good game so far.

Pats on 1st & goal before HT and I think they turned it over?! 17-7 at HT

HT scores

Ravens 13 Dolphins 10
Falcons 17 Bucs 14
Bears 7 Bills 7
Browns 17 Pats 7
Cardinals 14 Vikings 10
Saints 14 Panthers 3
Jets 10 Lions 7
Texans 20 Chargers 14

What the hell is going on in Cleveland?

McCoy is playing well off the play action and they had two huge momentum plays which they built steam off. A messed up kick return at the start of the game and a Gronkowski fumble right near the goal line just before half time. There have been a few trick plays as well which they would have worked on in the bye week. Good performance by the Browns so far.

That D is simply not good enough..they've been getting away with it. I think Simmons described it as bending but not breaking...well it broke today.

The bend but don't break defense is a term that has been thrown around the Patriots since 01, its nothing new. Guess its time for all rival fans, spolit Patriot fans and ‘experts’ to take this young football team off the top of their power rankings. Reactionary when it’s good, reactionary when it’s bad. The fact this young team is at 6-2 at this point with all the moving parts is an achievement in itself, this loss does not take that away. Watching the team has been enjoyable so far, though I do think there has been some bad football in the NFL as a whole.

As long as they have Bill coaching and Brady at QB, the Pats will be challengers...regardless of what power rankings may say or not say. I think it's fine to play a defense that is more about containment than it is about high risk defensive plays.

Remember a few years back, when the Bears used to always have one of the top 3 ranked team defenses, yet when you really looked at the stats, the D almost never made a definitive stand in any game.

The Pats D might give away 500 yards in total offense, yet late in the 4th quarter it invariably makes the stop it needs to. I just think this season, the D is looking a bit too young for a real tough playoff push...but season is only halfway through...NFL 'kids' grow up awful quick.

Peyton intercepted, great chance for Eagles to get another TD

Can't get the TD, but Eagles are 10-0 up

Jets win, Pats lose. That fecked up what was almost the perfect weekend of sport.

What a throw by Vick, Jackson just about holds on to the ball. Great play to get the Eagles out of a bit of bother

Don’t disagree with anything you said BTV though you may have misunderstood me with the rankings thing. I have little regard for that crap too. I did not really see them as Superbowl contenders at the start of the season either, but gained a bit more optimism once I realised the league sucks this year. It’s not just the defense that’s young either but this years draft looks really strong and young players are taking in the coaching and playing within the system. The problem was always going to be experience early on in the season and the so called rookie wall. The majority of Pats fans are spoilt and whiners by nature but I could not see many teams doing as well as they have so far while integrating all the recent draft picks and other moving parts (Warren, Faulk, Bodden, Moss). As you say it comes down to the coaching staff and the stability #12 brings.

What team do you follow by the way?

Don't ask..I grew up in Virginia..the Redskins are my team. Though I do remember as a 10year old jumping up and down in joy when we beat the Bills to win the super bowl..

Oh to have Mark Rypien back again :(
