Nfl 2010-2011

Pats win and move to 6-1. Another hard fought win, Brady was efficient, BenJarvus Green-Ellis ran the ball well in the 4th quarter, the offensive line were very good and the defense made the big plays when they had to.

I don't think Moss had a reception all game, Harvin did well whilst Favre got knocked-out. Another week will be dominated about Favre and whether his streak will continue, meanwhile the Vikings slip to 2-5. It's more about Brett than it is about the team...

I was on Sky Sports. Interviewed with other Kent Exiles before the game! However, the woman talked to me for about 5 minutes about our season, and the state of American football in the uk, how my season was, and then to my mates for about 20 seconds about the tailgate. Showed on tv was of course the 20 seconds where I say nothing. Gutted, got Exile name out though.

Cool

Tampa Bay are playing awesome football with a young team
Glazers could have actually made a good call with this team

Is anyone watching it on BBC 1? I am, haven't a clue what's going on. I'm not even sure if the game has started yet? Has it or is this just highlights.

Why's there so much of this on TV at the moment? Live game on Channel 4.

NFL is proving to be quite popular in the UK. Sky show 2 games each Sunday, Channel 4 show 1 game every Sunday night and ESPN show the Monday Night game.

Bucs UK are being offered to see a game next year in Tampa, with a free visit to the training ground, free dinners, free gamepass for the day and a seat inside the ship. This is a thanks from thr owners for the Bucs UK fan club continued support. I will let you know the prices and how much the Glazers are stumping up when I find out.

In other news, that was a huge hit on the Steelers punt.

That would be quite awesome. Be nice for a few cities to start up some clubs a little bit more slowly.

Not that it'll happen in a million years, but if it were going to happen, I'd consider hockey the best chance for it. Between the various minor professional, semi-professional, and junior leagues in Canada and the US there's already a system similar to the tier structure of European football in place. The reason it's highly unlikely to happen is that the only body capable of overseeing the sport is the NHL, and its owners aren't going to agree that three of them every year should be kicked out of the league.

Well baseball essentially has the same doesn't it? In fact it already has four tiers. There's several MLB teams that could certainly be replaced by a few AAA teams.

I think the Mexican football league does relegation a bit differently. I think you have to be shit for a little bit longer than a year in order to be relegated so I think that might be something some owners would go for.

Actually I think the sports that don't have any tiers so far would be the easiest to convert. For sports with minor leagues, what do you do with all the players on the minor league teams? A lot of those are prospects for the major league teams. Same with the coaches and the rest of the staff. Do the major league teams just have to give them up after investing all that money into them? Although I do see what you're saying about infrastructure like stadia already being there. But I still think it might be easier to start from scratch than to get all these teams to give up things they've invested so much in already.

Actually I think a logical place to start would be College Football since they have so many teams in each division and an enormous gulf between the top and bottom teams in each division. They could easily split up FCS into four tiers of 30 teams or so each. Gives the shittier teams something to play for and gives teams that are out of the running for a tier championship (or hopefully playoffs) a reason to keep playing to avoid relegation.

Random, bored at work NFL thoughts:

I still don’t get Brandon Lloyd. Seriously, what the feck.

Adrian Peterson and Jerod Mayo, when beasts collide. His 14 tackles helped hold Peterson to 25-92 rushing, which seems like a victory the way he was running. Peterson is as violent a runner as I have seen and seems to get stronger the more carries he get, I hope his body can hold up for the long term. I think his jumping touchdown on the goal line was a bad call by the officials though, looked like Mayo stoned him before he crossed.

I miss the defensive ineptitude of the Raiders. Two huge wins in a row.

That HongKong Suh thing/beast/machine is impressive. Obviously I don’t see that much of Nebraska but I remember someone on here mentioning him last year when I was rambling on about Ngata (MrMarcello I think) and I followed the draft process. Big men holding up the ball like Deion Sanders for a touchdown is silly, but I will let him off.

feck the Jets.

Might as well not even bring up relegation - it's not remotely possible in US sports. Try telling an individual/group that your "expansion fee" will cost $200m to $1b but you'll have to begin in the third division. And there are many more financial and logistical problems, one being travel. It's fine in small countries the size of Texas or California, but the US is the size of Europe. How would a club in Shreveport, LA, afford travel costs on top of millions in salaries?

Moss has been waived by the Vikings.

 Wow, that was quick!! Any reason he got waived?

Edit: from SI.com
The Minnesota Vikings have waived wide receiver Randy Moss, the NFL Network is reporting on its website.

Moss was traded to Minnesota from New England last month and played in the Vikings' 28-18 loss to the Patriots on Sunday. After the game, Moss had a bizarre postgame press conference in which he criticized Vikings coach Brad Childress, expressed how much he missed the Patriots and said he would only answer his own questions, and not the media's, moving forward. His strange comments came on the heels of being fined $25,000 for not granting media access.

Moss played four games for the Vikings (2-5), catching 13 passes for 174 yards and two touchdowns. The Vikings went 1-3 with Moss in the lineup.

Moss, whose contract expires at the end of the season, will have to clear waivers before he becomes a free agent.

 Answer his own questions, SAF should do that with the BBC.

Straight cash homey. Its a shame it came to this.

As long as he does not sign for the Jets, I hope he can get back to doing what he does best.

Worth the gamble for a club to take him. He does provide a deep threat but it comes with a buyer beware tag. He could be the ultimate factor for an NFC club to surge ahead of the pack. I too don't want him with the Jets.

Not on Monday Waiver, but thats not too significant with timings. Moss still has not been told anything though.

This seasons sport is crazy!

Could the Broncos get him? He knows Josh McDaniels from his time with the Pats and Orton is the type of QB that would suit Moss.

Call me crazy, but I see him back in New England. I wonder if the Vikes will consider asking NFL for their third round pick back. He will clear waivers as I don't see any team paying him the 6mil the Vikings are going to pay him if he clears waivers.
As a free agent, he can sign for the league minimum with the pats and the Vikes pay his wages. Double dip. Damn, I think BB took Chilly to school there. LOL

You're crazy. SOME team out there will figure he could help them, and New England has the very last claim on him.

New England will not claim him. Listen to this again. I strongly believe most teams were watching his press conference and they are asking themselves why they should bring him in this late, take about 4 to 5 games to learn the system and then what if he becomes unhappy? No coach out there want to be compared to Belichick after a loss.
If you claim him, you are responsible for his contract and it is huge. If he clears waivers, Vikings are stuck with his contract and he can then sign with any team for the league minimum which will be taken out of his original contract. That the Pats can do. He is only a fit for the pats given the time teams have. Only a foolish GM and team will go for Moss this late and hope to get something from him.
Tell me, what team can claim him and use him and can keep him from becoming unhappy? He was happy in New England, but he wanted a huge contract next year or whenever the Nfl plays again.
The pats were not going to give him a new contract, they were also not going to make him the focal point of the offense so when Chilly called, I am sure Belichick talked to Moss and Moss thought he was going to a playoff calibre team until he saw the difference between Childress and Belichick and he realized he just made a fecking boo boo.

Your abject Belichick worship aside, you might possibly be right that any GM that picks up Moss will be foolish.

So if your theory revolves around the premise that 30 NFL GMs will all choose not to make an ultimately foolish move in the middle of the season in the name of trying to make the team better that won't cost them anything more tangible than $3.5M, I'll go ahead and stick with my assertion that another team will take him before New England.

Worship of Belichick? Are you sure you understand my point very well? Abject worship? What the feck? I am not Randy Moss. That is what he basically did. I don't know Belichick and I don't really like the Pats anyway.
It is just the math. I suspect the Pats will let him clear waivers even if he falls to them on the waiver line. That is the point I am making. He is still in the Boston area and I think he will just go to Mira Craft and tell her he wants to come back and wish he had never left. I just analyze a lot of NFL stuff. Comments and shit. If you dissect what Moss said and did after the game against the Pats, it speaks volume.

Maybe Favre still has the Moss trade receipt in the back pocket of his Wranglers.

The only justification the Vikings would have for asking for their pick back would be if he ended back up in New England and they claimed tampering, surely. Even then its far fetched. You knew the risks, swung, missed and decided to dump him after a few games, that’s your problem. We don’t know about the inner workings of the Vikings organisation or the behaviour of Moss but Childress is a clown, sorry. You wanted to make a statement? How about you drop Favre after calling him out after the previous game and the miraculous Lord then making the whole week of preparation about himself with his egotistical comments etc. If the league was into sorting out teams mistakes they would have intervened in Buffalo a long time ago.

Really hope Eagles take a chance on this one (Moss). I think we need a big target to hit, something about Vick and Moss would just click chemistry wise, they are both fantastic playmakers.
