No. I couldn’t do it either, AC. I’m a Manc and I follow the Patriots because of family links and Bledsoe. I wouldn’t actually categorise myself as a Patriot fan though to be honest no matter how long I have been watching, don’t know why. I tend to say ‘follow’ or they instead of we without even realising. It could be down to me only going to two games in London; I have been to more City games than that for free! Its not close to how I feel about United, it took me much longer to move past the Barca games than the Giant games for example despite being outclassed. Even with the Super Bowls being close and 07 being arguably one of the biggest games in NFL history.

The tough thing with the NFL is also why I like it so much and why my interest will stay the same if they turn into the Raiders. It feels very involved in terms of time (mostly works time to be fair) during the season due to the level of coverage. Whether it’s looking at the statistical analysis and sites, Podcasts, games, all 22 this year etc and just learning as you go along. There’s always going to be a new trend, strategy or way of playing. Then, it’s over and you have to wait a fecking long time for the next game.

This. It's over way too soon. I was just thinking today how awesome it would be for them to bring in 2/4 new franchises and extend the season to 20 games. Won't happen any time soon though!

That's the difference between supporting United and The Pats. United lost the league last season to City in the most painful way, but 2 months later, the new season is back on and I'm pretty much over it. But once you go out of the play-offs or lose the Superbowl, its 9 frikkin months before you even play again.

That's what I was thinking. I like hockey, and the Carolina Hurricanes because I was always them playing NHL on my PSP, but I can never see the puck.

Never got into hockey.

Off the topic, I didn't watch the Ravens Vs. Pats game - did St. Brady make a dirty play on Ed Reed? Skip Bayless is pretty adamant that it was intentional.

Now, Peyton would never do that.

I might give it a watch. I'd never support the Yankees, but any other teams I shouldn't follow?? I'm a Patriots fan, does that mean I should be a Redsox fan?

The Red Sox are obnoxious, but as a New England fan you are probably quite used to obnoxious fans so that might be a good bet. Beyond that, it depends what you are looking for. Favorite player, style of play, location, financial power...

Thanks. I might just watch a couple of games and see who takes my fancy. When does the season start again?

Great. I'm gonna need something to watch this summer, now that the NFL season is over. I might even get in to some basketball. My cousins are from Miami and are big Heat fans. I even saw them myself about 10 years ago.

Watch college ball, AC. There are few things in life which are better than March Madness.

NBA has nothing on college BB.

I tried watching baseball once, got bored after a couple of innings. Still, ESPN UK tend to show a game every day and it helps pass the time.

Back on topic, what do people make of this story that Callahan sabotaged the SuperBowl? Remarkable accusation that a coach lost the SB on purpose, surely it's false?

Football or Basketball? I do occasionally watch College football. The season is way too short. I was even at a Hurricanes game once against Oklahoma. It was completely nuts. I even bought myself a replica helmet.

College football is awesome but I was talking about college basketball. Watch march madness this year and you'll become a fan.

****

Callahan sabotaged it because of his close friendship with Gruden? I find that hard to believe.

Its crazy, especially when someone like Jerry Rice is coming out with the accusations too. It would be a great shame if someone did that.

Jerry Rice is an idiot - don't let his HoF status fool you. The Raiders quite obviously went away from what the team was built to do, going from a run heavy - or at the very least, balanced, offense to a passing gameplan for the SB.

But Callahan didn't have 3 interceptions returned for touchdowns...that was a veteran QB having the worst game possible. Callahan didn't throw the team into turmoil buy going missing and then having a mental breakdown....

A decade after the event, it is a really small time move by Tim Brown & Jerry Rice.

Especially when pulled up for it, Brown acted like a pussy

Tim Brown
"We all called it sabotage ... because Callahan and Gruden were good friends," Brown said.

Tim Brown a day later
"I have never said that he sabotaged the game," Brown said Wednesday. "All I was saying after the game was, you know, the question was asked about this situation, but no one ever said -- and I said on the radio show last Saturday night -- that's something that could never be proven. We can't go inside the mind of Bill Callahan and say, 'Oh, yeah, we knew exactly what he was thinking, what he was trying to do.' All I'm saying is, the question was asked. But of course the media hears 'sabotage' and 'Bill Callahan' and 'throwing the football game,' now they're saying 'throwing the football game' and that terminology was never used. But that wasn't the intent."

Keep digging...

I doubt sabotage as well but what I did hear, think it was from Lynch, was that the Bucs knew all the Raiders audible and signals on defense and offense. Meaning the idiot coaching staff never changed the audibles and signals after Gruden left. Granted the odds of meeting a club in another conference in the championship game are slim but sill.

Yep, he should have been done for the hit on Ridley too. Twas helmet to helmet but I guess something is better than nothing.

There was nothing wrong with the Ridley hit Sparky.

It was legal and Ridley lowered his head as well. Harbaugh called it football at its finest and I kind of agree. It was a game changer and the kind of hit Hot Rod was capable of. Pollard has grown on me as a player over the years, I like that there’s still a place for that kind of safety in today’s league.

Nice play from Russell Wilson. NFC completely dominating the ProBowl.

Of the 3 big 'all-star' games in US sports, this is the least interesting but I still find myself watching it every year.

Man if I had tickets to the Pro Bowl I would go anytime just to see so many stars in one place.

Some stats for the Super Bowl:

I liked these particularly:

When scoring 20-plus points, Jim Harbaugh's San Francisco 49ers are 22-0-1 in their last 23 games. Including playoff games, the 49ers have only lost one game in the Harbaugh era when scoring 20 or more points.

Michael Vick has had three rushes of 50-plus yards in his 10-year NFL career. Colin Kaepernick has three rushes of 50 or more yards since Week 13.

Wow

That Kaepernick stat

Anyone know when the Harbaugh joint press-conference will be? Should be fun to watch.

Garbage story. He might have screwed up the game plan, but not on purpose. Hey Callahan, this might be your only trip to the Super Bowl as a head coach, what are you going to do about it? Oh I think I will throw the game, not for money mind you, but because I hate the franchice I coach.

Makes perfect sense.
