This is a toss up game. Both have very good defenses, the running game is very good for both sides and they each have match winners at WR/TE.

Comes down to the QBs for me and whilst Flacco has performed brilliantly this post-season and has shown his 'eliteness', Kaepernick has been nothing short of superb. Whether it's running or throwing, he's been exceptional and I think he'll cause the Ravens D more problems than Flacco (the more traditional pocket QB) will cause the Niners.

My SB prediction: Niners win 27-24.

My other prediction: Beyonce lip-syncs during the HT show.

Originally, I was firmly in the Baltimore camp, but jesus! I just want Ray Lewis to die now. Go Niners! :nervous:

feck ray lewis. I really want the niners to win this so bad!

NFL season awards were tonight and AP deservedly won the MVP. He also won the Offensive player award with JJ Watt winning Defensive player award. RG3 got the Rookie award, Peyton got Comeback player and Bruce Arians won Coach of the Year.

I agree with all of them.

I dont really watch American Football, I have in the past and it is OK.
I was reading this and just thought it was a bit OTT, is the sport really in doubt because of head injuries?

Depends on what you mean by "in doubt". Fans can be really demanding and players place high expectations on themselves to be tough and play through injuries and put their bodies on the line for the sake of the team and the fans. A lot of times that involves a lot of wreckless play that they learned from growing up watching hall of famers before them engage in for the sake of showing up on highlight reels. That's a lot of head injuries and a lot of long-term head trauma. They end up with short careers with out of control medical costs.

I felt Luck deserved to be Rookie of the Year. RGIII did not deserve it ahead of either Luck or even Wilson.

SuperBowl day! I'm hyped! My money is on the 49ers, unfortunately for Ray they have weapons not just a weapon.

Very much so. But I guess it goes to show how competitive the running for ROTY was this season.

I've already accepted that the Ravens are going to win. It was bad enough when our playoff hopes got ended by the Bengals of all teams, so I expect the Ravens will win the Superbowl and the Ray Lewis love in will continue just to rub it in that bit deeper.

27-24 to the Ravens is what I'm going with, with a good bit of drama. I'll be cheering on the 49'ers at will though.

I'd love the pats to be there, but after last year's torture I'm kinda glad I'll be able to relax and just enjoy this game.

I feel the same. Last year was torture, especially when welker dropped the pass. This year I can sit and enjoy the show. Hopefully it's a close game that goes down to the last drive of the game.

Yeah...your team losing before the Superbowl is the best thing for a fan. Relax and enjoy the game. ;)

Very happy for you, AC. :)

Linebackers!

From what I have seen this year, I presume Willis will take the TE most of the time and Bowman the RB.

Ray Rice should have the opportunity to make some plays in the passing game.

Watching the Phil Simms pre-game thing and they are counting down the 10 biggest blunders in Super Bowl History. Oddly despite some of the blunders at 10 to 2 actually costing their team the game, he picks Leon Lett celebrating a touchdown too early and letting Don Beebe catch him and knock the ball loose as #1. Excuse that game was already a blow out, the Bills had lost, the play had ZERO effect on the outcome, how is that the biggest blunder??????

Good lord, there were several more important mistakes in that game. Of course for some reason the US Sports press has always wet themselves over that play, I think ESPN even gave it Play of the Year that season.

I am going big on Ravens more because of Rice than Flacco.

He always won me money when he played for Rutgers and won me a $2k fantasy league a few seasons back.

Come on Ravens!

The ball is caught.

He gathers his weight onto both feet,
crouching halfway down
in a coil of potential energy,
while drawing in his hands toward his chest
and flexing his elbows.

The head of the target turns to face him.

His neurons activate in a pattern
called SMASH
to send signals through his hips, quads, calves,
tightening muscles and propelling his body
like a wrecking ball in reverse.

Plastic helmets connect.

In the moment it is harmless,
like a pair of hands rubbing slowly,
but the moments after ring loudly
with an echo of
CRUNCH
and
SNAP
and
GASP.

Two objects in motion,
two forces of equal and opposite
mass and acceleration,
each the other’s external stimulus,
violent twins,
swap energies and directions,
creating
the heat of trauma.

Laying prone now,
receive and process the impact
charging through them like electric shocks
into the very neurons who conceived it
like a death wish fulfilled.

Now throw to commercial.

Is anyone watching the CBS interview with Ray Lewis? I'm in the UK so I can't but twitter has exploded about what he's had to say about the murder incident.

I want the Ravens to lose just so I can see Ray's face crumble and his heart break into a thousand tiny pieces.

Jim has a crazy smile. I think if he loses, he'll go mental.

ah feck I havent started watching yet what did he say?

This is from twitter:

Jackie_Pepper: Wow, when asked what he had to say to families of the 2 men stabbed to death in Atlanta, Ray Lewis says, "God has never made a mistake."

Not sure what else he had to say and what he meant when he said the above. Not the smartest thing to say though.
