I dont get why people on here hate Brady. Is there any particular reason as to why you guys hate him?

I don't know if it's due to the increased celebrity element in some players in America or if it's because of the bigger importance of certain individual players and the heightened chance of choking in NFL/NBA but a lot of players seem to get a lot of flak. People seem to bask in Lebron/Kobe losing, although Lebron didn't help himself with the whole Heat title prediction thing.

I'm probably just talking a load of nonsense as in hindsight people bask in Terry, Ronaldo and Messi losing but there's usually more of a focus on the team.

How much blame should Welker get. He has a habit now of dropping huge catches in big games.

Welker's a little bit strange - he drops catches you expect him to make but then makes catches in traffic and picks up decent YAC. As good as his regular season record is, you can't get away from the fact his drops have been crucial in the past 2 post-season losses and you cannot have the #1 WR dropping catches in big games.

I would love him to re-sign as he knows the system and Brady can (usually) trust him to make catches, but I think the Pats will let him go. Either way, we need another WR for Brady to target and someone to stretch the field.

Just looking at the stats from yesterday, Vereen should've been used far more. I didn't hear his name until late in the 4th quarter when the game was all but over. After that monster game against Houston, you have to question why he wasn't used more.

This game was a microcosm of his season. Excellent catches in traffic, toughness and the ability to absorb big hits to go along with drops. He had a lot of them all this season and the last it’s just highlighted because they lost. He’s not the problem, it’s the reliance on scheme and route concepts to shake someone free consistently, outside the numbers in particular. It works in the regular season but there’s going to be a point in the Playoffs when it bogs down. Gronk is the only true man beater and explosive element, especially down the seam.

The Pat's wags have the habit of running their mouth after huge losses. These attention seeking, trophy bitches need to keep their mouth shut.

Another reason to hate the Pats.

Some thing in New England water, makes them all arseholes.

The hate is strong with this one.

I agree with you guys about Welker. He has dropped some huge plays in clutch moments. On the other hand, Brady has missed some throws he usually makes.

I should say I dislike them.

I don't hate anyone or anything....well...expect most people.

In fairness to Welker, he takes hits over the middle that very few his size could take and not be constantly sidelined due to injury. He took a handful of hard hits on Sunday and it might have affected him mentally.

I love the hatred towards Brady and the Pats, I feed off it

He's Irish iirc- his location confirms it.

I recall someone asking me about the Seahawks a long while ago. Wonder who that was..

They went home, buddy. :D

PS: Are you from New England region, Sparky?

No, my next door neighbour and his brother are. I got into NFL watching it with them and also my cousins husband is a massive Pats fan so those influences led me to the Pats. And I love it.

No kids. I have a soft spot for the Browns, with Bill Belichick's links to the great team of 1995 that was broken up and moved to Baltimore. That's partially the reason I hate the Ravens too.

You soft spot doesn't work as well as your support though. Browns are still shit.

I have particular love for the Ravens. I dislike NE teams more. People from Baastan are annoying. I enjoy the Sox, Celts or Pats losing.

I'm not a fan of Americans in general, but I do enjoy visiting their country and watching their sports!! :D

I don't follow the others but I'm United since 1985, New England since 1984. You must be Top Red. Nice to meet you!

Ah yes, the QB controversy between Steve Grogan and Tony Eason. Fun times.

But no, we're all "Johnny come lately" fans.

I remember it well. I had an old red worn-out Grogan jersey that my cousin (a Dolphin's fan!) brought over to me. I only really became a fan watching the Superbowl XX when they were annihilated by William Perry and co.

Seriously though, not sure I get the idea of latching on to the Pats or the bandwagon concept, especially if you’ve only just started watching the game. There are better options. Yes they win in the regular season, put up a lot of points and have TFB but its pretty much been disappointment, missed opportunities, re-building defensively and failure when it matters for quite a while now. Every year except 08 and 09 when they simply were not good enough. Not that I’m claiming they’re the Bills or Browns but you know what I mean. Plus, you have to put up with manufactured hatred for the most part and other fans attempting to devalue your success based on Belichick’s mistake and media demeanour.

I might follow the Giants, Green Bay or San Fran for their linebackers from now on. I’m a defensive guy really, that’s what I enjoy watching. Plus this is going to end within the next two/three years unless Mallett is Young or Rodgers. Bledsoe and Troy Brown are long gone and I’m not putting up with 10 years of mediocrity and scrapping for the Playoffs now my 4th favourite players nearly done. feck that, I’m out.

Can you choose who you follow? I don't think you can. I think its whoever you just happen to like, and it sticks. Some times its the best team, sometimes its a team who has a player you like. I didn't choose to like United or the Patriots. It just happened that way!

Yep agree with this, and in my case being under strong influences of others bears a factor but at the same time nobody forced me to follow the Patriots, I started following them before I learnt about their previous history at superbowls ect. It had nothing to do with jumping on the band wagon in my case it was simply the team I liked and decided to follow, initially watching their games to now cheering them on.

I chose the Pats based on Madden. They were the default side and I've stuck with them since.

Although, I think I may have jinxed them as we've not won a SB since :(

For me, I started supporting United because Bryan Robson was the first player I got for my Panini sticker album. As for the Patriots, I really liked Steve Grogan and Pat Patriot on their helmet.
