Eli was fecking great at the end of last season, he stepped it up when it really mattered, he's elite for me. He can put any doubts to bed in the next few weeks.

Tebow must be really, really, really, really...
, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really,
really shit in practice for Sanchez to still be in this game.

As I feared, the Falcons were happy enough to have won the NFC South already and came into today completely flat. Hopefully this is a wake-up call.

Can still go 2-1 the next 3 and clinch home field advantage even if the rest of the NFC wins out.

Ravens loss gives the Pats a chance to get the #2 seed in the AFC. Although, it's going to be a tough with Houston on MNF and the Niners next week.

Same thing that happened with Vick early in his career. They get too desperate to make plays and put themselves in dangerous situations and don't think about how important they are to the franchise.

Granted, you want them to fight for every yard, but you put the whole season at risk sometimes.

The rookie Wilson has been a great find for the Giants in terms of kickoff returns. I know he had fumble problems at the beginning of the season but I think he could become a big player/weapon for the Giants. Excited to watch him grow up and challenge Bradshaw for the starting RB.

And Andrew Luck, what a good job he is doing for the Colts. They are really rolling now. It would be interesting to see how he handles the pressure of the playoffs.

He'll never be a starting RB imo - he's too slight. He'll probably end up splitting carries.

Wow. The Cardinals offense is really struggling again.

Seattle is a hard place to play; luckily I have their defense in both my fantasy leagues.

Wilson's had a triffic game. Giants running riot on the Saints.

Just seen the Cardinals score

Did Russell Wilson get an injury and, if so, is it a bad one?

The excessive celebration penalty is a joke. Idiotic rule.

Lions playing well so far, up 14-0.

That is a ridiculous play  Oh my!

Eli says hi, Eboue.

Hey Eli, good job throwing two interceptions and having a lower YPA than the opposing quarterback when you faced the third worst defense in the league.

Football Outsiders has Eli at #12 among quarterbacks.

1. Brady
2. Peyton
3. Rodgers
4. Romo
5. Brees
6. Stafford
7. Schaub
8. Ryan
9. Griffin
10. Rapelesberger
11. Wilson

I'd say the top 5 are elite and the next three + Rapelesberger are clearly ahead of Eli. Then you have Griffin, Luck and Wilson who I think will surpass Eli easily in the years to come. Further, there are Newton and Kaepernick that have tons of potential. So that puts Eli anywhere from 9th to 15th at his position. Not elite.

A million percent agree.

RGIII takes too many hits.

Yup, thank God it's not a serious injury - but he might miss the game next week.

The consolation is, he is a beautiful passer of the ball from the pocket - so once he settles down a bit more, gains a bit more experience, (and the coaching staff get it through his head - his health is vital to the organization!!!!!), he will and can play in a far more conventional way.

Hold up, are people in here claiming Eli is overrated? feck the experts, just look at the number of comeback wins he's directed in his career and his postseason play to see why so many ppl rate him.

When the pressure is on, he is money. He's not going to tear the record books up with yards and touchdowns, but where it matters, he is definitely a factor.

When the pressure is on, lots of guys are money. Lots of those same guys are also consistently great year after year, something Eli is not. If he isn't going to put up lots of yards and touchdowns then he's not elite.

Clutch/winning the Super Bowl arguments are always so tiring. Manning wouldn't have won either without incredible catches from Tyree and Manningham or without great performances by the Giants defense shutting down some of the best offenses of all time. It's silly to say that him being the quarterback on a team that won two Super Bowls makes him elite.

Where do you rate Eli among quarterbacks? If we're talking elite is have to think that means at least top 5. Peyton, Brady, Brees and Rodgers already have super bowl wins. Schaub Ryan, Stafford and Romo have put up better numbers and Rapeslesberger puts up numbers and has a ring of his own. Assuming we can all agree that Peyton Brady Breed and Rodgers are better, do you really think Eli is better than Schaub, Romo, Stafford, Ryan, Luck, Griffin, and Rapelesberger?

Whaaaaaaaaaaaaaaat?

1st of all Luck & Griffin are mere rookies, without a shadow of a doubt he is better than both of them at the moment. Remember I'm a Skins fan, who would let RG3 have his way with me, not to mention, I'm a DC guy who was taught to hate the G-men and the Cowgirls from birth.

Tony Romo - Come on man...ask any GM in the league, who they'd want, Romo or Manning, and it's not even close, despite Romo having better numbers.

Schaub & Ryan - I'd like to see them win a few more playoff games before we have this discussion

Matt Stafford - only a couple of years in the league...I reserve judgment on him at this stage.

Rapey Ben - toss up.

I really do think you're doing Eli a great disservice - 2 time SB MVP(think only a handful of quarterbacks have accomplished that feat), most road playoff wins in NFL history.

Of course he had help to win the Super Bowls, no one is claiming he won them alone...how many quarterbacks have? He isn't some 1 time fluke though...

Eli Manning is 31, and one more SB win away(not saying he's gonna necessarily win another) from being a lock for the Hall of Fame. Some might say, even without another SB win, he's gonna be in the Hall of Fame - in which case, by definition he is elite.

He shouldn't be anywhere close to the Hall of Fame as he was never once in his career anywhere near the best in his position. For anyone that follows hockey, Eli is basically Chris Osgood. Above average player with great teammates who won a couple of titles.

Also, Eli isn't a one time fluke. He is a two time fluke. Do you have a source for the assertion that every GM would take Eli over Romo or are you just saying it because you personally would?

This argument basically comes down to you placing extreme value on the two playoff runs and attributing outsized credit to the QB. Last question before I try to get a couple hours of sleep, better QB: Clutch Eli or Noted Choker Marino?

Not even going to bother with your NFL posts haha

Did you rate Cam Newton number 6 on the all time QB's last year?

Those aren't my rankings. Those are Football Outsiders attempts to rank quarterbacks by DVOA (explained here http://www.footballoutsiders.com/info/methods). I think it is a decent estimate of performers this season. As I stated in my opinion below that part, I think Romo is probably in the next tier, but still above Eli.

Let's make a quick comparison between the two.

Romo has more passing yards per game, a better TD%, a better INT%, a better completion percentage, a better Net Yards Per Attempt, more rushing yards, less fumbles, and a lower interception percentage.

There isn't a single statistic that Manning leads Romo in except Teams Played On That Finished 9-7 In The Regular Season And Only Made It Into The Playoffs To Fluke Their Way Past Better Teams Because The NFL's Playoff System Is Designed To Favor Exciting Moments Over Better Teams.

That ref gift-wrapped win given to Seattle over Green Bay is really going to come in play as this season nears the end. Instead of 7-6 as they should be and in a lock with a handful of other teams, they're sitting a game above all of them and on level with the a hybernating Bears team.

It's also potentially going to cost Green Bay a bye into the second round.

As for the Eli talk, while he's not exactly what I'd rate 'elite' he's still quite solid and capable of making plays but also capable of making mistakes. This HOF talk is garbage and the product of today's hyperbole era of stats and playoff games. If Eli is a HOFer off two SB wins then Plunket is as well. And Phil Simms.

Maybe true, but rating him behind all and sundry is garbage as well.

I'm not rating him behind all and sundry (which the Internet tells me means one and all). I'm rating him anywhere from 9th to 15th. So IMO he is at worst a top half QB and at best a top third QB. Seems pretty reasonable.

It is a shame he isn't used more, I have seen him drop one clanger but generally the ball sticks to him.

He always had great hands. I don't watch the Eagles much anymore but Avant was always a slot guy, even going back to his college days. He didn't have the size of Braylon Edwards or the speed of Steve Breaston but he was as reliable as they come on third downs.
