Neymar

I'd imagine when he signed, he'd want assurances that Utd ARE going to be recruiting more world class players, so they and him can get back to winning titles. Why would he be interested in signing for a team that promises to not get better for a decade? That's just ridiculous.

Pogba signed because the team was going to be built around him for the next 10 years. Obviously the team will be strengthened with world class players but not Neymar...Pogba isn't a number 2. With Neymar, he automatically becomes a number 2. Pogba wants to become Jordan, not Pippen.

Pogba can accept to be a number 2 with the french team (Deschamps with Griezmann) but not in club. He said it a few months ago in an interview in French for sofoot ( http://www.sofoot.com/IMG/img-so-foot-136-1461053644_x700_articles-220863.jpg ). His goal is to become the best midfielder in the history and the equal of Maradona and Pele... he has a big ego and crazy ambitions. I don't think that he'll achieve his crazy goals but he'll try and with Neymar it's impossible because people will always argue that he wasn't the main man when Manchester will win trophies.

There are plenty of players who could improve the team...and it will not be Neymar as long as Pogba is here.

So what you're saying is that Pogba wouldn't want United to buy Neymar? Or Messi/Ronaldo for that matter?

I don't think that analogy works, unless Pogba is going to get most of the goals.

I don't see why he'd be worried by Neymar if he plans to become the best player in the world anyway. You don't get to be a legendary player unless you win loads of trophies and you don't get to win loads of trophies by being a 1 man team.

So we can't buy anyone better or with a bigger reputation than Pogba?

Sounds like shite. Of course Pogba wants to be the best, but he'll also want world class forwards to feed the ball to.

Guys like Suarez/Neymar are like no brainer signings.. well Saurez isn't because now he is approaching 30 so I don't think that would be a good signing. But watch us try and buy Messi in a few years who is nearly 30 now and watch him flop here as he isn't able to adapt to the pace of the league.

I've seen some killer arguments for the infamous pace of the PL but this one is up there no doubt.
There is not one player on the planet who is better in tight spaces than Messi, and even at 32-33 he would be a hell of a lot quicker than many current PL players are today.
Mata for example is doing more than fine in the PL and his pace is comparable to Stephen Hawking with a flat tire.

Totally false

Example : in August 2015, Mourinho and Chelsea wanted him and had proposed 95 + 15 to his former agent Oualid Tanazefti (he owned the image rights of Pogba). And Chelsea was champion of England and played the league of champions. But he refused ! And last summer he could also go. He was the priority of Antonio Conte who considers Pogba as a future ballon d'or and who trusted him when Sir Alex underestimated Pogba in 2012... but Pogba refused again.

We can also talk about the PSG with President Nasser who dreamed of Pogba for years but who never could have him sign because Pogba finds the L1 weak...If Pogba wanted to go to the PSG, the emir of Qatar would pay him anything he wants because Pogba is not only one of the 5 biggest stars in the football world but also young, French and Parisian.

Manchester had to put something very special in the contract clauses to sign him. Otherwise why would the most courted player of the world go to Manchester United this summer?

What a shite, if Madrid or Barca had stumped up the cash he would have been there, lets not pretend otherwise

http://www.independent.co.uk/sport/...cted-phone-calls-barcelona-move-a7598951.html

Spanish paper SPORT is reporting that Jose is pitching him on a move, if and it's a big if we get him and Griezmann.....
He'll never join a team outside of the CL, would genuinely cost in excess of £300k a week and we already have a few big earners, we won't have any desire to smash any transfer now we have Pogba. Amazing player, not for us though.

EDIT: Also has appearances in court, too much baggage for us there, would be bad for the club's image.

Wages wouldn't be an issue. He'd play more minutes than Rooney and Schweinsteiger combined and be paid less than both combined.

I'm sure the club would walk through fire to get him but even with the ridiculous money we'd be happy to throw around it seems like a total non-starter.

Exactly... Barca wouldn't let him go at this juncture tho. They would be insane to do so

The Independent. That's the news source that mislead and leave out stuff right? Or is that a different Independent?

Neymar isnt a Jose type of player. Hes like a little girl.

Jose did quite well with Robben. The most attacking player in his dominant Chelsea side. Can't remember him being too much of a participant in the team's defending. But then again, they had the best defensive set up in Europe at the time.

I just read the piece. Sport claim their source comes from Manchester and cite a source close to Mourinho when stating reasons why Jose wants to sign him.
A member of the coaching staff? A Spanish player?

Not happening. Is he trying to renew his contract? It's probably that.

What do you think of Hazard?

He ended up falling out with both of these players.

He's currently getting paid about as much as both of them combined at barcelona...

The most credible source puts his new contract at £260k a week AFTER TAX. You do the math

That would be £454k per week, which would actually be around twice as much as our next payed players (Pogba and Ibra assuming that Rooney is off). Too much for my liking and considering the history of South American players at United, I would much prefer Griezmann who while probably not as good as Neymar at his best, has been significantly better for some time now, would cost half of Neymar's transfer and would earn half of his wages.

I agree, can't help but feel it's too much for someone who could easily flop given the different style of play he'd be used to dealing with.

Do not want.

At 450k/week he'd blow open our already high enough wage structure as well.

Do not want Neymar? What is wrong with you people?
This rumour is nonsense. Questions

450k - (Rooney 300k + Depay 100k + Schneiderlin 100k + Young 100k + Schweinsteiger 200k + Fellaini 90k) = -£440k a week

Bargain

The only way it's that high is if it includes Neymar signing over his image rights.
He is very likely on such wages. Barca's wage list is the highest in sports despite that the majority of their players are underpayed compared to squad players of other top teams. But their absolute top players get payed more than any other players in the world. Messi is on something ridiculous like 50m before taxes.

Is this Barca tax though?
:lol::lol::lol:

Anyways, you'd probably give him a raise, too, so we'd be looking at half a million a week, most likely. Still, what @Attila said

Btw, yes, that wage does include a %(not all) of image rights to barcelona IIRC

Feels like another di Maria-esque deal apart from the team/club beeing in a much more stable condition. As a supporter I would rather see Griezmann as he would blend in much better, I think

Is he worth the combined transfer fee and wages of Griezmann plus one more Griezmann-level player though?

It also sets a presedence. Guess what Pogba and Griez will ask for come renewal time.
