Be very difficult to be a stepping stone if he costs £100m+. He's 25 in February, and if he signs a 5/6 year contract with his new team, he'd spend the best years of his career there, no way Real would pay an even bigger fee to take him back to Spain.
Also people saying PSG - he wouldnt get the exposure he wants as the league isnt big enough. His sponsorship deals depend on him being seen every week in a big league, not playing some random French town team on Friday night, even if he would score 80 goals there.
Your right, so it's like the Pogba situation. For him the player we are his best destination in terms of Club status, Exposure, Champions league contenders (we will be) and Money of course.

Di Maria sound familiar? Wanted to go to PSG but PSG couldn't pay Real's asking price due to FFP, so he ended up coming here instead. Didn't get settled and got his transfer to PSG after just a season. I don't think he'd be worried about his form or possible injuries, that can happen anywhere at any time. In a hypothetical scenario IF we got Neymar, I could see him spending 2-3 seasons here before wanting a move to Real.
