Neymar ain't going anywhere. What we are seeing is contract renegotiation 101 and Im thankful he isn't using us this time to get his new contract....which he will get.

Indeed.
Remember the Ramos saga last year?

I get the impression the FFP is dead or - if you prefer - has been loosened since last year.

2 years ago: PSG was capped (1 transfer superior to 50m) so had to choose between Luiz and Di Maria.
Last year: no cap and the UEFA was happy with the budget of PSG (LOOOL)
This year: nobody talks about the FFP

2 years ago, you were monitored because your wage bill was too high but since then the club increased its revenue. The UEFA never had any intention to cap you forever.

The management is so good by increasing its revenues mainly thanks to the contract Qatar Tourism Authority

Even if this is Ramos mkII, I would bite if I am Woodward. Why? Let drive his salary to insane level. Barcelona finance would be drained and they would be less involved/ uninvolved in transfer market at all in years to come. Less tough challenge, easier to acquire targets.

If (extremely low chance) for some fluke reasons Barcelona didn't give in and Neymar camp is pissed and decide to leave, we're more happy to take him.

Win-win. Of course, not making a clown out of ourselves by going all public. Do it like we did in Mourinho case: misinform everywhere!

I saw that and I don't know what to think. Sometimes I feel like if we really want him then you have the manager make a statement and say... We want him. It would make me feel better if that were to happen.

That's daft thing for any manager to do for various reasons.

This isn't FIFA or FM

My favourite current player prolly, so much flair and just so exciting to watch. Would prefer him to Pogba as our superstar signing (if we are to make one, mind), but would never be a possibility.

You have to wonder though if his demands are too much for barca, i don't know what he wants but he's on 10.5m euros and PSG are reportedly offering him 30m a year after tax. Messi is currently on 15m so if somehow barca are willing to go above that for neymar one would assume they'd be forced to do the same for messi.

It all comes down really to how greedy neymar is, and we should be no where near that negotiation table, no player is worth that kind of money. I would've sold a kidney for ronaldinho or kaka on their prime, but all of a sudden they both disappeared while in their 20s, you never bet that much on one player.

Neymar would boost both his own and our commercial status if he was to sign, he would make most of that money back in a few months strictly from shirt sales alone, not to add all the fans that would come on board which would further boost finances.

Even if he was to disappear after a few years, we'd have one of the world's best players who could go on to be the best of his generation, whilst making most of that money back.

If worse comes to worse, piss Rooney off. That being said, we will never sign Neymar nor will we ever get rid of Rooney.

I was wondering why all those sudden "Barca bid €80m for Dybala" tweets appeared.

Interesting times. I'm actually surprised it's only been us and PSG linked, & not City as well.

Could all be absolute shite of course. But I have a uneasy feeling of paying anywhere near what it will take to prize him away from Barca for 1 player. Absolute bobbins. (Think his clause is £145m excl. the massive wages)

Just come to add my usual 'I'm all for it as signing a replacement marketable superstar will allow us to get rid of Rooney' line.

He is about to prolong his contract with Barca right? So I guess we all know the game.

Addidas would make a killing not United. AFAIK we don't get money for individual shirt sales we get the fixed amount agreed when we made the deal with Addidas.

Someone correct me if i'm wrong.

His new release clause is apparently close to 250m. I'm sure Woody would like to activate it.:D

They've just signed Ben Arfa, close Thomas Meunier of Belgium too. Just me or are PSG signing players who are a little underwhelming this yr for their fans? Sort of "middle" to lower end of the ability scale compared to others

They won't pay Krychowiak's 45m euro release fee either, and want the deal at a lower price. It is as if Khelaifi is tightening the purse strings now and doesn't want the lavish spending anymore

Or better answer.. They are broke!! They've just given Neymar a mega new deal they can't afford to be spending 45m euro's.
