Neymar Jr | PSG | 2017/2018 performances

Neymar is a black player and given the way black players are treated in Spain why should he hang around, if he has a better option elsewhere?
Clubs are not born they are made. It does not matter if he is making a (small) step down. He is off to make some history at PSG and good luck to him.

What is PSG's starting XI like ?

Tough to say. Cavani, Neymar, Verratti will all start. Probably Rabiot too. They don't really seem to play 3 at the back much., so I'm guessing either:

--------------Cavani--------------------
Neymar----------------DiMaria/Draxler
------Rabiot/Matuidi-Verrati-----------
-----------Motta/Rabiot---------------
Kurzawa-----------------Alves/Meunier
---------
Silva---Marquinhos-----------
-------------Trapp---------------------

or:

----------------Cavani--------------------
Draxler-------Neymar----------DiMaria
------Rabiot-----------Verrati-----------
Kurzawa-----------------Alves/Meunier
---------
Silva---Marquinhos-----------
-------------Trapp---------------------

even though that midfield 2 hasn't been seen much. They're both capable of it and I would not at all be surprised if Neymar has demanded to play centrally like Rivaldo did, Bale has made clear he prefers and other winger/10s have done.

Di Maria might still move in the transfer market, but they have Lucas and Guedes as other wingers and Neymar can play wide of course with Pastore as a 10.

Has anyone seen the farewell post he made? Looks like his father wasn't pushing for the PSG move after all; he says this decision is contrary to the one his father recommended. Interesting for him to say that publicly.

His father probably wanted him to hold out for even more money!

What's that based on? Certainly not the only available evidence...Ibrahimovic finished 4th in the Ballon d'Or rankings at PSG in 2013, higher than at any previous point in his career. You could argue he was no better then than he was for Inter in 2008 or Milan in 2011, so it certainly didn't hurt him in the way people suggested.

Then surely @VBI makes a decent point. At its very best moving to PSG only shifted Ibra from 7th to 4th. So as he/she said, not really close to winning the thing.

For the other thee years he actually ranked 10th or lower. His worst set of results since 2004. His average placing over the course of his time with PSG fell in comparison to the rest of his career (from when he became an established player).

So I'd have to agree with VBI, there's no evidence moving to PSG will help Neymar become BPIYW.

It's a way to remove any pressure or bad press from his father. We all know Sr is a hard bargainer and with his team has meticulously built up brand Neymar to maximise his commercial appeal and moves like this helps it. Just look at the way he left Santos and how much money he got for it. It's just the same here with obscene amounts again. This is his dad who has been working on this, don't for one second think he would move if Barca offered comparable wages.

I was a big fan of MSN, the best attacking trio ever, IMO. Still, it was about time for Neymar to get out of Messi's shadow and try his luck elsewhere. PSG are highly ambitious and hardly worse than Barca after this move. With 1-2 top signings next summer they'll be up there with the very best.

Arguably, Neymar suffered from playing a second fiddle to Messi. His best periods at Barca coincided with Messi's absence in the team. His stats in the big games (Madrid, Atleti, CL quarters to the CL final) have been generally better than Messi's over the last 3 seasons. He may fail to become the best player in the world but he has to give it a go. At Barca he was bound to be always in Messi's shadow.

He scored 20 goals last year. I seriously doubt he will be as influential as Ibra was. Good luck though.

Thanks for you wishes.

His last season wasn't his best season. 105 goals in 186 games for Barcelona.

In terms of influence, let's analyze the best scorers in the history of the Selecao:

1. Pelé: 77 goals
2. Ronaldo: 62 goals
3. Romario: 55 goals
4. Neymar: 52 goals in 77 games with Brazil and he's just 25

The best scorers in the 4 last seasons in Champions League

1. Cr7 55 goals
2.Messi 35 goals
3. Lewa 29 goals
4. Muller 23 goals
5. Neymar 21 goals
6. Cavani 20 goals

Mate the racism thing is nonsense, yes there have been some incidents in Spain, notably the monkey chants towards Ashley Cole in 2004, but the idea that Neymar is routinely subjected to abuse just isn't true. He was a huge star there.

Yeah, he moved because he was subjected to racial abuse there.

It shows PSG is really one of the challengers (with Juve &co) behind the TOP 3 Real Madrid, Barcelona and Bayern.

Quite strong spine

CB: Marquinhos
CM: Verratti, Matuidi
CF: Cavani

Very good (as of this moment, slightly worse than World Class)

RW: Di Maria

World Class "wing"

RB: Alves
LW: €222

Has the potential to reach CL semi-final :confused::o:o

He'll be judged on what PSG do in the CL, and his role in that respectively.

Neymar: 'I am very happy. Thank you to the president thank you to everyone. I am very proud to be here. It's a huge club and Paris is a beautiful city. We want to win titles together here.'

Neymar added: 'I came for the ambition of the club. I want to help this team to win titles.

'It was my decision. I wanted to come to Paris. I wanted a new challenge. It wasn't about feeling more of a star at Barcelona. It's not about protagonist. It's about a new feeling and a new challenge and different titles. My motivation is to win trophies.'

Neymar: 'It's been the most difficult decision of my life. I had a great time at Barcelona with fantastic players. I was in a tense moment but life in football is very fast. I was looking for a new challenge, something different.

'There are Brazilians here already who are my friends, so of course I already feel at home here.'

Neymar: 'My heart told me to go to PSG. I'm really hungry to play football, this is what I've always wanted to do in my life. If I can play tomorrow (against Amiens) yes why not?'

How long before this transfer gets investigated then and PSG get deducted points?

I must say the more I see the PSG kit the more I'm tempted to get it as a top to play football etc in. The power of visibility and marketing at work there.

I laughed on all those lies said by Neymar and Nasser more than anything I saw this summer.

I saw his record for Brazil earlier, it is excellent.

shoutout to neymar for looking after his economic interests tbh, clubs do the same, and the career of a footballer is short and one injury could feck it all up all of a sudden. neymar will already go down as a very good player and an instrumental part of a successful barcelona, and that's all at 25 years of age, if things go well for him he will break a few records in the french league, add a few more titles to his resume, become a club legend at PSG and maybe, just maybe, give them the push they have been missing to win the CL, they certainly have a strong team.

get your money breh
You do realize that he's already set for life and money should just be a number for him at this stage.

I call that bullshit, his father stood to make a ridiculous amount of money and he would be against it ???? I laughed when I watched that part. Neymar loves his father and wants to attract the negative attention away from his father.

Pretty much a shit move for all parties involved.

Barca lose an important player and will be worse off for it next year.
PSG gain the the most expensive player in history and all the expectations that go with it. Highly doubtful he scores more than Cavani next year.
Football transfers get inflated by another 50-100% over the next year.
Neighmar will win feck all outside of the French league.

Agree with everything but this. He'll outscore him and then some.
