Neymar joins PSG on a five year deal

I don't think I'm the only one happy to see a key player being taken away from Barca/Real for once. Too many times they are doing the bullying.
Absolutely. I'm sick of their attitude. I hope Madrid don't get Mbappe as well.

It would be good if he goes there as I would love to see how it goes and if he can be a 1 man team and shine as the star they say he can be .

It would be a very interesting challenge for him and I don't think it is just for the money - he wants to show he can do more and be more for the team he plays for .

Do it , Ney !

I love how they are making it look like his father is twisting Neymar's arm to make to join PSG. RM fans and spanish media did the same thing with us and Pogba saying Pogba wanted RM but Riola wanted him to go to United so Pogba finally gave in.

It's gonna be more than €222m, in Spain if the selling team for doesn't want to sell the buying club has to pay the full release clause + tax to the Spanish government. That's why Griezmann was gonna cost a lot more than £80m. That's my understanding anyway.

Clubs haven't been paying Spanish tax on release clause deals, but they were making provision for it, and even taking out indemnity insurance in case the tax authority did ask for tax. The reason for the confusion was that the law was ambiguous, the tax office never had made a statement on it, and nor had a case gone to tax court. The tax office have now confirmed that there is no additional tax to pay.

What planet are you on?

That is exactly what Messi and Ronaldo on.

Please use Google and educate yourself on 2017 sports finances.

Firstly any basic search shows Ronaldo earns €32m euros as his salary per year Messi is on €40m Euros. So some basic maths shows both do not earn €1m per week from their salary alone.

Secondly I am actually a chartered accountant so I'm sure I have much better financial knowledge than you.

The dark side has seduced you, but it's not too late! Let the light in your life! Embrace it! Join the side of good!

Doesn't Madrid fit the dark side narrative better? Franco's team (emperor and empire) and the Catalans being the rebels?

Hell, half the time Perez looks like Palpatine

Any basic search in spanish through spanosh media will show that Messi's salary is after tax

These wages are net and without image rights.

Our president was killed during the civil war for being a republican. Meanwhile Catalunya was among the first regions to surrender to Franco(to be clear. The catalan people suffered greatly under Franco)

And we weren't Franco's team, exactly, more like a vehicle on the international stage for Spain. Franco only had any real influence on football in the '60s

It's pretty funny that Barca was trying to bully themselves into getting Veratti, and PSG going right back at them.

I was only talking about their salarys and not including any additional endorsement they may get. I can't investigate Spanish sources as I don't speak Spanish but most websites I have seen quote wages gross.

Forbes state Ronaldo's contract is now $52m a year and Messi's is $50m. Converting that into euros is about €44m a year gross. That doesn't equate to £1m per week.

Ultimately unless wikileaks gets a hold of their contracts we can only trust the media

Spanish media which one would assume would know most about it, claim Messi's new contract to be worth between €30 and €40 million after tax, plus a €50M signing bonus

Cristiano iirc it was quoted between €17M and €25M after tax

How the hell can Barca afford that?

I just can't believe those figures. I suspect Spanish tax is the same as the UK. So just for simplicity say tax is 50%, they would pay him €60-70m gross per season. This doesn't even include the likes of sponsorship, pension and other taxes.

So you are suggesting they would pay Messi more than 10% of their annual revenue a season? Plus a €50m signing on fee. Where are these figures from?

I do believe the after tax refers only to the personal income tax. And yes, in Spain it's at roughly 50% at that level

Sport, El Mundo, La Vanguardia, Marca, As, Ser, etc...pretty much every spanish media...

You can never be sure about the reported wages for players tbh. Some sites say the wage is after tax, some have it with tax included, and even then, there are differences between the reported figures.

So based on that you can surely conclude that they cannot afford it , right ?

No? That's why despite their big revenues, Barcelona have less room on the transfer market, they chose to put the money on a limited group of players.

So you think it is reasonable to give 10% of your revenue to 1 player , because before taxes it is somewhere around that figure ?

So long as UEFA continue to let City and PSG fluff their figures with bogus sponsorship deals they can do whatever the want. I have a feeling that this window might see a change in appetite in the corridors of power at UEFA.

I wouldn't call it reasonable but it's actually something that happens in American sports.

Perez gives a 1 year delay to PSG with the Jesé payment to help them with FFP and the Neymar deal.

It would be funny if true!

Sky Sports - Neymar's agent has confirmed that he is in talks with West Ham about a move to England.

This was back in 2010.

Just imagine

In the last 2 seasons he was the Barça player that created the most amount of chances whilst playing deeper than both Messi and Suarez and running a lot to sacrifice for their weakening midfield. He was even played as a wingback for a while and he gets a tenth of the credit for Barça's success than Messi. Barça are about to lose their main chance creator to a team that was one step away from eliminating them in the Champions League had it not been for that monstrous performance by said player and yet Barça fans seem to be ok with him leaving without there even being many great options in the market.

He deserves to be the star of his team and get the freedom to move around the frontline instead of having to stay hugging the sideline for the whole game and chase around players when he doesn't have the ball. He's proved consistently where he plays better and it's easy to see as he always does better for his national team. Checking his heat maps on whoscored and comparing it from Barcelona to Brazil says it all.

They are not okay .

It really hurts them, no matter the excuses they make.

He's a phenomenal player.

If that player is Messi, sure.

You do understand that revenue is the whole sales of the team , this is not the income ?

There is not a team that could make it after years of such management , I am pretty sure that is why they are not buying and if they do , that would be a big problem for them in the years after Messi is gone and his image rights don't boost their income .

I think Neymar is important for them not only for the quality he provides for the team , but for the income he will mostly generate when he becomes the superstar of the team .

PSG knows exactly this - if they bring Neymar , those millions will come back to them in 3-4 years time at the most .

Revenue is the total income a club generates in a year. They're synonyms in the specific case

Unless you meant profit, but that's another story. Barcelona are owned by socios, it's a non-profit organization. All the profit stays in the club. All they need on that front is to break-even(and if they don't, the current president has to cover for up to a certain % of the losses afaik)

@Peyroteo barcelona fans aren't ok with ney leaving, they've been into full meltdown for a week

They could theoretically buy both Dybala & Greizmann to replace Neymar, with the money and still have change left over, you'd imagine both would be tempted to go there.

Yup, they might try to convince themselves otherwise but that's just being in denial and actually shows how much it affects them and now all I'm hoping for is they go for more forwards instead of fixing their midfield and getting a good right back.

With Neymar I can get why so many people could dislike him but more than him and his antics I think his father is the one that deserves to be detested.
