Neymar joins PSG on a five year deal

Is neymar worth 4 Kyle walkers or John stones... almost certainly and I suspect the only reason us and city are not all over him like a tramp on chips is we know that persuading him to leave Barca will be difficult but persuading him to live in Manchester rather than Paris when both will offer fantastic wages will be practically impossible

More then that tbh. He's going to be making 30-40M net pay, he's going to get 100M sign on bonus and his father 40M, PSG are buying him a house, they're going to help him start a hotel chain and have his own private jet. I don't think United nor City can offer that, even if they can they wouldn't.

This seems to be more of his father play then Neymar and I assume his father will convince him.

Any danger that we could lose Herrera to Barca in the aftermath of all of this? It worries me that we still haven't tied he and Pereira down to long term contracts.
With all their best players ageing I think it would be dangerous for them to splash serious money on a player who will be 28 in 3 weeks. They desperately need youth, whether Neymar stays or not.

Giving messi the contract is tying a noose around the neck of Barca as messi is fading fast. It's play-for-play exactly what happened to us with moyes giving Rooney that contract. Stunted us for the next 4 years. Not saying Rooney is anywhere near messi's level, but the grip they have had over their respective clubs is comparable.

100% agree with you there...but he's also 30. Neymar is 25. Both are rediculously talented. Not saying Barca made a mistake by giving him the contract they did...but then also you can't blame Neymar for being fed up being in his shadow for the last 4 years and having had enough of it.

At 30 he is still way better player than Neymar , so he absolutely deserved what he gets. If Neymar thinks he's been held back it's because of himself not able to take the mantle and falling short.

If he is the world's best and ready to challenge Messi's dominance he should make his own legacy via his performances even within barcelona.

Where have you plucked all of that from?

That's a crazy offer. I wouldn't blame anyone who went from Utd to PSG for that.

His father looks the cnut.

He's the cnut as well. Like father like son. I think the chances of him staying are slim at this point. A large group of fans, especially the hard core from Barcelona are starting to get fed up with him. He's gone imo.

Barca need to secure 2 of Coutinho, Dembele, Mbappe, Dybala, Eriksen or Hazard with 250m and they will be totally fine.

Fading fast?

He scored 54 goals and had 19 assists last season

Easier said than done? What about the rest of the team that needs reinforcing even if Neymar stays? I feel as if this transfer drags on with no certain outcome Barca are leaving themselves short of time to replace him.

Hmm, the reinforcements that Barcelona need are vastly overstated. We need only a midfielder and a Neymar replacement if he leaves. What we need more is to sell some players who take up space in the squad and are paid too much money for their service.

Fair enough. I think it'll be very interesting if he goes so for that reason I'd like to see him leave out of pure curiosity.

Wonder how the PSG players are feeling right now....PSG doing everything they can to get this one player and if they do will pander to his every demand.

I think after what happened last season, they're fine with it. It's pretty clear that getting Neymar to play in Paris would be the biggest coup in P$G's history. This could also help settle down Veratti and make everybody realize just how serious they are about winning the CL and making this club one of the best in the world.

Well said.

would be great if this happened;
Barca become weaker
Liverpool lose coutinho
Anything less than a champions league would be a failure for PSG

Just what is this post?
If PSG are threading FFP buying Neymar as is reported, then sanchez is not going there now is he.

Wenger is talking up Mbappe and our 50M would help but he'll probably spunk it on some unknown kid form nowhere...

...again

I hope PSG will get him. Would be good if Spain giants even sometimes lose their best players. Boring that they always have all the best players and Ballon d'or winners.

How is scoring for fun against the Spanish minnows any "better" than scoring against the French ones? If he managed to win the champions league with PSG while being the competitions top scorer he'd have every chance of winning the Balon D'or.
You think Ligue 1 has the same strength in depth as La Liga?

Barca would be fools to turn down a 200m+ bid. That kind of a cash would go a long ways to rebuilding for the present and future. It's not that Barca need the funds but feck, that's a massive offer to not take. They could easily find a quality replacement to fill the void.

I'd say Barca need a quality ball playing centre back, a Xavi esque playmaker and a Neymar replacement IF he goes but I don't think for a second we'll see him leave and this is all about his ego being stroked after Messi became the worlds best paid player (exactly why Ronaldo did it recently too) and his father being a grade A cnut is trying to force Barca into making the club push Neymar as its crown jewel.

FFP wouldn't allow for PSG to actually pull it off and it's probably why they're apparently all in for Sanchez too, in public it builds up interest and excitement from fans and makes it look like a statement of intent but when they only end up with Sanchez (who's not exactly a bad player to sign anyway) PSG can say Neymar decided to stay or wanted ridiculous money so they don't lose face.

Pique/Umtiti looked like a very solid CB pairing in their first year together. I think they are fine in that regard.

I disagree about the center back. Pique is still in his prime. Umtiti is the real deal. Xavi esque playmaker is not going to happen. We're talking probably about the best CM of all time, at least in my book. The front three is the best there is. Rakitic is an excellent midfielder. Busquets is the best DM in the world bar none. Alba is top 5 at LB, only Marcelo is a cut above I'd say. Semedo is a top talent at RB, so that can look a lot better this season as well.

Our team is great. Don't see any issues except the unknown factor which is Iniesta. Which is why the club is pushing for Coutinho. Last season, the problem was mostly the manager and the lack of motivation in the team. At our best we showed we could beat any team anywhere. The tactics and the hunger in the team need to be at optimal levels though, and if Valverde does his job as it's expected Barca can be in for an amazing season.

Real beating them to Ceballos was a big loss.

Disagree. We have our own talents in La Masia. Check out that Carles Alena. He could be an amazing player in less than 2 years. Samper as well. Ceballos is a nice talent, but not of such an unseen magnitude that would make our own internal talent pale in comparison.

I personally think you need to displace both Rakitic and Iniesta.

The rest of the team is fine though.

Very talented player, bit of an Iniesta/Xavi hybrid at the moment, models his game on Maradona. But he's 19, and you never know how they'll progress.

Mate, im not saying you are wrong but they are a little involved here... oh he is only leaving because he is getting a .....

This isn't just coming from them, its coming from various different news outlet and twitter accounts. Neymar wouldn't be leaving Barcelona just because he's getting a huge salary, there is much more involved in this. Even last season they offered to help him start a hotel chain

A starting Madrid or Barca player will not leave. It's almost certain. They consider the two clubs the pinnacle and the lifestyle/culture is their preferred option (possibly excluding Bale).

99% of footballers are greedy bastards and agents just make it worse, Fathers likely even moreso.
Clubs are also greedy bastards so I find it hard to to support a player trying to get all he might be worth.
