Neymar joins PSG on a five year deal

How is scoring for fun against the Spanish minnows any "better" than scoring against the French ones? If he managed to win the champions league with PSG while being the competitions top scorer he'd have every chance of winning the Balon D'or.

La Liga has it's detractors but it's nowhere near as unbalanced as Ligue 1. PSG have won 4 of the last 5 titles with little to no competition.

At least La Liga has 2 or 3 teams capable of winning it in any given year.

United have no chance of signing Neymar. The total package in the Neymar deal involving PSG is reportedly 640m. You can't come up with that kind of money. Only the oil clubs can. And Manchester is not an attractive destination. He will either take the shitload of money and go to PSG, or he will stay at Barca, either with a bigger contract (and hopefully +1 more year and increased buyout) or with the same contract.

But we dont want to. Otherwise nothing can stop united from getting what they really want. Certainly only if neymar indeed wants to leave. He does not suit the Philosophy.

Is neymar worth 4 Kyle walkers or John stones... almost certainly and I suspect the only reason us and city are not all over him like a tramp on chips is we know that persuading him to leave Barca will be difficult but persuading him to live in Manchester rather than Paris when both will offer fantastic wages will be practically impossible

He'll need to make off the ball attacking runs and have off the ball vision and positioning here while also tracking back defensively when needed with a higher work rate. Mourinho does not play traditional Posession based total football in Posession which suits neymar's game the best with his skills. With Pogba's passing range and vision he'll need to attack the space off the ball.

You can see Why Martial is struggling after a blistering start.

Neymar is a far superior player to Martial and his movement is some of the best int he world. He'd have no problems here and Barcelona no longer play 'total football' either.

He does all of that? See him for Brazil or barca, martial had been struggling because he has been poor. Neymar is a few level ups. If Mourinho can not make Neymar play to his potential then the fault lies with him but I imagine he would love to have him here.

Martial was struggling for France the Summer before Mourinho joined. What do we blame that on then?

Hey oh frérot, faut pas trop exagérer non plus eh.

It was nowhere near this nor had it been going swimmingly for around roughly a decade before the arabs joined.

Never meant that mon frère (avec l'accent de Lucas). PSG was still a big club in France with many players in their history. Qatari money took them to another level in terms of consistently winning domestic trophies and signing high profile players.

Which is kind of irrelevant when we talk about the history and the club's alleged absence of soul.

When you've been around since 1970 not sure you can refer to having a history, more like infancy

I hope that you are not suggesting that infants have no soul?:p

Edit: For what it's worth the PSG is actually older than that, since he comes from an other club, the Stade Saint-Germanois.

Why not just trigger the release clause if we're paying 200mil anyways?
because you don't have to pay it all in one go. But hey, sure, if you can, pay the clause and maybe sell martial so you can go for a midfielder

If it came to that, we'd rather take out a loan than pay the same amount and lose martial + Mkhi.

Yeah, it would make sense for both sides to agree on a 140m+Martial deal though. Martial is a better fit for Barcelona's CF position, he would be a great understudy behind Suarez and it would put Barcelona in a Position where they don't have to worry about life after Suarez.

I don't think Neymar wants to come here tbh which is why we've not really got into the mix. Understandable too, PSG are better placed atm and he's at his peak now so it's all about here and now for him.

Yeah, I have the same feeling But I was just entertaining your and Giorno's idea. Neymar is a better fit than Martial for us, Barcelona could do with a young talented forward and we already have Lukaku and Rashford.

If PSG sign Neymar and Sanchez they will be the best team in the world and huge favourites for the CL IMO. Imagine a strike force of Neymar, Sanchez, Di Maria, Cavani with Veratti in the middle. Jeez.

Though I wouldn't mind losing martial for Neymar, I'd still take out a loan and pay the release clause upfront rather than do an instalment deal but lose martial in that scenario. We're rich enough to afford the loan payments and the market is downright crazy already so why lose a talent like him just for payment structure.

Mainly, because that talent won't play much if you add Neymar to our current roster, he would basically be third choice in all positions and if we can't give him that playing time, the right thing would be to let him have a good career somewhere else.

Pfft, don't think so much about what's good for Martial, let's focus on what's good for us :D

After seeing his father at the stadium I think this has swung back in Barcelona's favor of keeping him. I'm sure his dad was there to explain the situation to which Barcelona could then make their own offer and/or promises. It would just be too disruptive to Barcelona and they would have to do anything keep him. After all of the drama the last few days I am sure his ego is stroked well enough to put him and his dad to sleep for at least another year's time.

Surely if this was as close to being done as the media are claiming he wouldn't be starting Barcelona's pre-season games?

Check out his goals against Juventus if you haven't seen them btw, made their defenders look ridiculous at times.

But what if DADDY WANT WANT WANTS him to go to PSG?

For what it's worth, a Marca reporter who's in New York currently (where Barca are training right now I think) and regularly writes for Barca saying Neymar wants to say after talking to teammates.
Now they're saying (by a different writer) that Neymar will deposit the 222m himself to move and will be earning 30m net, same as Messi.

If this does actually happen.....absolutely mental.

I was just reading his wages over 6 years will be around £155m. The transfer will be just over £192m.

I wonder what this means for Barcelona now. Messi on the wrong side of 30, Iniesta with a season or two left in him. Years of bad signings. The youth academy not producing the magical players it used to. I think Madrid will be rubbing their hands with glee.

Yesterday reports were that his teammates almost convinced him to stay, today he's amost certainly at PSG again. Let's see what's next.

What bollocks am I reading about Neymar not fitting our "philosophy"?:lol: ffs some people are still stuck in Van Gaal's era. Neymar is the 3rd best player in the world and he would instantly improve any team. And this myth about him not able to adapt to the Premier League because he would always be fouled?! when you see players like Sanchez, Aguero, Silva, Costa who are a tier below Neymar and they tear up the league and people still think Neymar or Messi would struggle in the Premier League.

First meeting between Neymar´s father and Barça didn´t go well

Mate, it's just sour grapes.
A lot of MUFC fans are desperate for Neymar and the fact that he is moving to PSG is causing them to throw their toys out of their pram.
If Neymar moved to the EPL, he would most likely be the best player in the league (if managed correctly) and would be the first name on the team sheet for all teams in the EPL.

Graham Hunter's pulse on matters fairly spot on. However he overlooked the annual retreat for his sister's bday and the relentless push by Neymar Sr. for Barcelona to sign other Brasilian players he manages. Papa has his mind on banking the maximum loot possible and this was clear even before any flirtations etc. ever materialised - Neymar was never going to retire at Barcelona as everyone knows the brand needs constant reinventionhttp://www.espnfc.com/spanish-prime...o-leave-barcelona-as-long-as-it-is-his-choice

Neymar ignored his father & agent's advice when they pushed for RM 4 years back, I suspect he will cash in and heed it this time with PSG

I was at the game yesterday and you could see the joy he had after scoring those two goals and celebrating with his teammates. The stadium in NJ was overwhelmingly Barca supporters and he seemed to relish the adulation from the crowd. Would be very strange to see him leave after all that.

He ignored his agent, not his father. His father is the one who made it happen with Rosell, pocketing €40M in the process

They both pushed for it, the addtl financial incentive in the end for Papa from Rosell was a token of what he would have received from Flo

No, we offered better wages to Neymar and more money to santos/DIS, not to daddy neymar iirc

The agreement between Rosell and Neymar Sr was reached in 2012

What do you think about all of this as a Barca fan? Are you sick of Neymar or do you wish he signed a new deal?
