Neymar joins PSG on a five year deal

Maybe we can't afford it?
If we can throw 75m (and add ons) at Lukaku, 400k a week on a 35 year old Zlatan, I'm sure a 200m on Neymar would make commercial sense as well in the long run. Top 5 player in the world, hugely marketable and will become the face of the club along with Pogba. He's going to surely stay at Barca but if he were available, he'd be worth a world record fee. 200m is a bit OTT but well people would pay that much even for a 30 year old Messi.

Jose probably wouldn't be pleased about him getting suspended every year when his sisters birthday comes around though

It's 200 in one payment, you really think that we have 200m at the moment or that we can raise it easily?

It's not a normal 200m though. Release clause means paying the entire fee upfront, right there. Lukaku might have cost 75m but we won't pay more than 15m this year unless we win PL/CL. Ibra was a very specific transfer due to the contract length and no transfer fee.

Edit: Our record for release clause is 30m for Herrera.

Anyone think Dortmund moved up the Aubameyang deadline and raised the fee for him in anticipation of the potential Neymar move and Barcelona being flush with cash.

Naymar just doesn't have the numbers to justify this. This is the problem as the Messi and Ronaldo era winds down, being named as their heirs means nothing. Itll be generations before we find comparable talents. Not just next player down the list.
Those two are all time greats, it doesn't mean the next coming up are worth these amounts.
A player who scored 15 goals last season is not worth 222m. I dont care how marketable they are.
Hell Barca have the 3 best South Americans of their generation and they're 3rd tier in terms of financial muscle.

He's the creative force of the team. He was scoring more goals when that was his role in the team. Last season his role was to create more than it was to finish. There's 3 players in the world worth that amount and Neymar is one of them.

That being said, doesn't mean any club will pay it, it's a ridiculous amount, but it's a ridiculous market.

Firstly Auba is #9. Buying him for the wing doesnt make sense. Also this deadline is bullshit. If he is worth 60m and if Barca offered 15m more then they will accept even if their "deadline" has passed.

@Womp
Then he only had 11 odd assists, and thats with Messi and Suarez up top.
Anyway that seems like an excuse, from what I remember Barca are set up to free MSN, not limit Neymar to a particular role.
He got into scoring positions but his finishing let him down.

Well, that's why they bought PSG to promote Qatar. I remember that people couldn't make the difference between Qatar and the United Arab Emirates, now they know that it's not the same.
True that, I suppose. Or Abu Dhabi.

Id rather Dembele for 70m than 220m for 25 year old party boy Neymar.

If Neymar wants to leave then why a mickey mouse club like PSG? Why not move to the mighty Manchester United?

Because the Qatar Walt Disney have unlimited money while the owners of the mighty Manchester United don't.

Even if Neymar is desperate to come, there's no chance we'll meet the release clause and even less chance of Barcelona selling him via negotiation.

They let us sign Verratti and we don't challenge for Neymar (plus they use the cash). Done dealios

Barcelona as a unit all underperformed last season. Messi didn't perform when they needed him too either. You just have to look at Neymar in the PSG game or with Brazil to see what he offers.

He's the best player in the world when it comes to international performances and in a team where all the play is made to support him, rather than Messi, he'd shine, just as he did in that period where Messi was injured.

Can someone summarise this thread please? Any chance of it happening?
Gladly. This is on like donkey kong

Carvajal will be overjoyed, won't have to suffer getting skinned alive twice a year by this monster

And i can admit it, my cock could power the netherlands at the moment

Have to go back to 2009 for a transfer to have this effect on me:D

Insanity if this is true and I wouldn't want my club doing this.

I'm still skeptical, Neymar won't do it.

Dunno, man. That much money could be used to really rejuvenate their team, not sure I'd like it.

The way Barca have been spending money on new signings in recent times, I wouldn't be too worried

I agree. The first or second year I would have loved for Madrid but I think he lacks attitude. With 220 million Barça could buy 12 Ceballos. So if they are smart they can make a new team

The market today is insane but it's also crazy to not rate Neymar(imo). He would win United the league and make us real contenders in Europe.
We are lacking goals and players to create them. As I said earlier he got 20 goals/ 27 assists last season. At 25 years old, the way the market has went in the last few years and is going, why not? You think of the money Kyle Walker went for. The money Swansea are demanding for Sigurdsson, Spurs for Dier. We are negotiating with Inter for a player who is 29 in February. Inter are rumored to be demanding £48m, Inter finished 7th last year. Perisic got 11 goals/12 assists last season in all comps. He could be great for us granted but has no resale value.

Neymar has scored in a CL final and won it, not to mention other honors in Spain. I just don't get why people wouldn't want him at United. Money is insane but United can afford it.

I could care less if Neymar cost 10m or 200m - they're both amounts of money that are not within my reality.

I would just want United to always be in for the best players, of which Neymar is.

It's basically Lukaku, Perisic and Dier

Or Neymar

I'd take him. Particularly given we already have Luk

Neymar stays silent and doesn't deny the PSG rumours.

Didn't he come out earlier and say he was happy at Barcelona and looking forward to the next season or something?

What a signing of intent Neymar would be. At least Veratti couldn't complain about PSG not trying to compete.

Why aren't we, who are the richest club the world trying to get in on this?

Which they will use to sign andre gomes, arda turans, aleix vidals, paco alcacers...:lol::lol:

It's not like they could magically sign verratti with that money. At best they could spunk 2/3 of that to convince dortmund to let dembele go...and then nothing else because there's no players around in the market

Don't cut half of the post because the first part is important here. And the risk is not far greater, the risk would be greater if doubling the world record had a impact on the injury proneness of the player and remember they don't care about money, it's not as if it was going to prevent them from spending next year, only the wage would be a problem but there are insurances for that.
I think you'll find they do care where 200mil goes.

It's not a greater risk? I can't understand how you could possibly come to that conclusion. They're pumping more than double the amount of money into a player than anyone else has ever done. The risk of a player getting an irrevocable injury doesn't decrease the more you spend.

£200m and he'd be double or treble marked all season. It's ok for Barca with the trident, oppo teams don't have enough players to double mark all three of them. It'd be a massive waste of cash for us.
