There's nothing wrong with wanting someone long term. The problem is believing that you can prioritise long term management over successful management. Success is a prerequisite of long term management, not a consequence of it.

No idea about your other stuff, we've spent an absolute fortune on players since SAF left, for all our managers bar Moyes. Finances are nothing to do with why we've failed.

His posts don't make any sense that's why. Just another poster who's fine with the current status quo of the club.

Why not go for ten Hag in the summer? People are very eager to sack Ole from the bat. Do they really think that Conte (who btw isn't the man for the job) is going to do miracles with Fred, Lindelof and Pogba and turn this season around? (that is looking like a season where we are fighting for the last 4th spot against west ham and arsenal btw) Why not make top 4 and say goodbye in the summer? Whoever you think the manager should be i really don't see how sacking Ole immediately now is going to save the season.
Because there's a good chance we won't make top 4 under Ole... and we can't afford to waste an entire season that will set us back years missing out on CL football.

Well Lautaro just signed a new deal last week but football is football so ya never know. I would bet that one of Contes stipulations will be that Kane isnt sold. I dont see another top CF available at the minute. Who knows, Conte may be want Kane needs in the short term, but unfortunately for both Kane and Spurs short term is all you are going to get with Conte.
Conte's Juventus got 102 points in his 3rd season, the most any side has ever got in any of the top 5 leagues. It's not particularly long-term and I can't imagine that he will be at Spurs but it's not quite as short-term as is being portrayed.

The mods can sort these threads quickly.

Who gives a feck what other clubs fans think, we have enough idiots of our own who call themselves fans.

There may be 50 shades of grey but if people think if and when theres a new manager and the #ManagerOut stuff will stop they are fecking morons. Our club is polluted with infantile plastic arseholes who will cry #ManagerOut even when things arent as bad as they have been. They of course will always be right as eventually managers leave but until then they are insufferable and miserable cnuts who if you pull them up on it whine like little bitches and bring out the novel Top red nonsense. You all know the type theres a lot of them on here who will always be miserable unless we are winning a top trophy every year and even then they will still fecking moan.
Lynch those atheists. No place for the nonbelievers in the Manager FC.

I’m pretty surprised Rodgers is viewed so negatively around this forum. Liverpool connection apart, of course.

I think he’d be a very clever appointment for you guys at the end of the season. His teams always play very nice football and he seems to maximize the qualities of all his players. Also a very good eye in the transfer market and doesn’t need superstars to do well.

If in an alternative universe Tuchel had to step down tomorrow I’d have no problem taking Rodgers at Chelsea.

It's because a lot of people's two biggest requirements for a manger are facing off against each other with rodgers. What's more important, pretty football or being a part of the united DNA. So people just write it off so their heads don't explode.

Personally I think he'd be okay if Conte isn't there, zidana still doesn't want the job, and ten hag goes elsewhere. Poch and him are a toss up. In fact I think their strengths and weaknesses are pretty similar

Spurs sacked Nuno after 10 match when they realised they made a mistake.

We kept Moyes till the end of the season who took us to midtable with PL winning team.

I do, you should go through my posts like Gazza did.

Im not allowed to moan about the relentless moaners then?

Is that how you see it?

Kinell

Ramshock whinging about Moyes in October of his first season in charge = no problem
Other posters asking for a change of manager after 3 years = plastics

Kinell.

Only United fans out of all the big teams in the world view things this way. Spurs are only 2 points behind us in the league, and still contain 2 of the best forwards in the PL in that team. I can see Conte coming in and sorting the defence, motivating Kane enough to get him going for the season.

"going to do miracles with Fred, Lindelof and Pogba" - Conte was Pogba's manager in the past and had no issues with him. And Conte took Young, Sanchez, Lukaku and Darmian and made them league champions.

Yeah he wasnt considered a short termist at the start but he walked out on two title winning sides the season after since then. Why would he be any different at Spurs or United?

Sit patiently, there's nowt you can do. Being hysterical is only going to be counter productive - not good for your mindset.

Its clearly not an obsession its a way of building the club back on a sound footing which is really hard when you have absentee owners who refuse to let the club spend the money its creates and only does so begrudgingly after games have to be cancelled due to supporter protest. As for Conte, Conte is short termist, he may get you a trophy (but with Klopp, Tuchel and Pep) but thats not guaranteed. He fit in with the Chelsea model but Chelsea have an owner who will spend a lot of money on players when he is arsed. Do you see the Glazers pumping in the money that Lampard and Tuchel have gotten the last two years? Daniel Levy has had to tell Conte he will spend £100M in the next transfer window to lure him in.

Do you see the Glazers making these promises to short termists like Conte. This is why Jose didnt work, Jose if you give him want he wants will win you trophies eventually even though he isnt anywhere near his peak anymore. If he doesnt get what he wants he becomes a miserable team wrecking fecker. I have said all along that Ole, with all of his faults and lack of experience, would have had us in a much better position if he was able to get all of his players in sooner than he has been able to. The owners are the main issue. Ole is far from blameless but the owners are the main reason we havent competed since Fergie left.
Yes, absolutely yes.

21-22: United spent 140m on transfers, with a net transfer of 110m.
21:22: Chelsea spent 120m on tranfers, with a net transfer of -2 million.

20-21: United spent 84m on transfers with a net transfer of 64m.
20-21: Chelsea spent 247m on transfers with a net transfer of 188m.

19-20: United spent 235m on transfers with a net transfer of 154m.
19-20: Chelsea spent 45m on transfers with a net transfer of -112m.

Since Ole is here:
United spent 459m, with a net transfer of 326m.
Chelsea spent 412m, with a net transfer of 74m.

Ole's average net spent: around 108m
Chelsea's average net spent over the same period: around 25m.

All values are in euro. All data is from trasnfemarket: https://www.transfermarkt.com/premi...saison_id=2019&s_w=&leihe=1&intern=0&intern=1

It is not even close which manager has been backed more in the transfer market.

But data does not matter. It is all about belief and feelings.

The level of drama exuding from this thread title is on another level. I'm impressed.

The idea that we would do anything before the international break was always wishful thinking. Let's hope we can do fairly well against Atalanta, and keep City to at least a draw. Maybe we'll see a new manager by then, or maybe they'll wait until Christmas. Either way I don't see Ole staying the manager until the summer- but then again I'm not filled with confidence about the decision making at the club. I just hope the club has a solid idea of what kind of manager we want to take over and a better strategy for hiring coaches than what we've seen so far.

As for missing out on Conte - eh he's a good manager who would do well, but he's no messiah.

Who else is there that's available? Its Ole or a caretaker til summer I would guess.

Other suggestions welcome.

"Stiffen the sinews ... summon up the blood and cry ....Good for Ole, United and the Theatre of Dreams!!
(oh and forgot, adding..."Glazer's out... but not before landing us a new world class unbeatable, win everything...manager")

Yeah he wasnt considered a short termist at the start but he walked out on two title winning sides the season after since then. Why would he be any different at Spurs or United?
I think the point I was making was that short-termist in football, which has been used especially around Mourinho, usually implies that after a while the manager fails to deal with the players as well as the board while Conte has never seemed to lose the dressing room but in fairness has consistently had issues with the boards he's worked under. At Juve, where he completely turned them around despite his biggest signing in three years being Kwadwo Asamoah, he seemingly wanted to take them on to the next step but the indications were major outgoings (Vidal to United) were more likely than incomings while at Inter he was promised there wouldn't be major sales despite rumours and then left when it became clear that that wasn't true as they prepared to sell Lukaku and Hakimi.

I don't think if he achieved anything like the success he had at those 2 clubs that that would be an issue at United (we've never really sold anyone the manager wanted to keep and we've spent way more than those clubs ever could) but at Spurs the issues with the board would surely be a major issue unless Levy has been totally honest with him in the discussions they've had and Conte is genuinely willing to accept that reality. I don't even know why I'm defending the guy so much, while I do consider a change necessary he probably wouldn't be the preferred option, but am concerned that we're now going up against 4 of the best managers in the world with a vastly inferior manager.

Its infuriating Tottenham are actually productive and are going to get a manager that actually wins something

We on the other hand, persist with Ole whos proven he is out of his depth and has just been battered 5-0 by our greatest rivals at home

Completely and utterly inept.

So what happens if City batter us?

Then most likely Ole will get fired? Is Conte the only manager in the world or something?

They've spent better than us, but no club on Earth has spent more money on transfers and salaries than United under Ole. Now, of course, we can all claim that actually it wasn't Ole doing that, but some other people, but then we also should not give merit to Ole for getting these players, right?

With regard to the other point, we have spent more money than Chelsea since SAF left. So, Glazers, as shit as they are (and they are really shit) have been giving funds to all the managers post SAF. The excuse that we cannot spend as much as oil clubs, at this stage is just an excuse, considering that the data is saying that we are outspending Chelsea and City, in case of Chelsea, with a significance margin.

I'm thankful for not being the director of football who has to make the calls around to find out who is available - and make that decision. Money tends to swing the pendulum however, so I imagine if we are really set on a candidate, and he is really set on us, we can afford to buy out their contract. We should look to get whomever we want and would be a good fit for the vision and style we want to play - not just managers who are without a job at the time. That has sort of been our problem the past 8 years - randomly even haphazardly appointing managers.

We all know that if we could convince Ten Hag, Pochettino, Rodgers, Manchini or Luis Enrique we would easily be able to afford to buy out their contract (slight question mark around Pochettino I guess).

Yeah he wasnt considered a short termist at the start but he walked out on two title winning sides the season after since then. Why would he be any different at Spurs or United?
I was never particularly interested in Conte but I'd be fine with a short termer who might actually win something, correct our course and above all, expose the board as the hapless cnuts they are.

Sit back and watch the third edition of the Spurs shit show starring Conte

I just don't see why Conte and Spurs would agree a deal unless Glazers have said no thank you already.

If that's not the case then the best thing to do is to see if Ole gets annihilated vs City and then this will lead to the same uproar as the Liverpool match and then everyone will ask for Conte too.

Only works if Glazers haven't said no already and if Conte primarily wants this job first.

The only way is to burn Old Trafford down and start again. The owners must be taught a lesson that when a manager like Conte comes up, you don't hesitate. You'd run over your granny en route to picking Conte up from the airport if you have to.

It's unbelievable, this club. Sad.

Can you enlighten me please about the style of football our board love please ?

I will have a go at answering this one: its the style of football that gets a top-four finish.

This Ole was rather good at: you play not to lose against the recognised top-six teams whilst aiming to win pretty much all the games vs. mid-table/relegation threatened teams.

For some reason this season that plan has gone slightly to whack, possibly for two reasons. i) Ronaldo and ii) now fans are back at Old Trafford, there is unrest if they don't see Utd. on the front-foot and attacking in every game.

Revan are you really using Chelsea as an example on how a clubs transfer policy is run. They have how many players on loan every year? They always sell well because they have had a system set up for a long time and we have only just started with a DoF. They buy well and they sell well, of course not every transfer works out but a lot more of those have than ours have post Fergie.

Here is a list of first teamers bought or loaned under Lampard/Tuchel

Mendy
Werner
Havertz
Ziyech
Niguez
Silva
Pulisic
Lukaku
Chilwell.

That was added to a squad already containing

Kante,
Kovacic
Jorginho
Kepa
Azpilecueta
Alonso
Mount

They had a proper base to build on. Ole didnt have that. The amount spent by united or the net spend is a bad argument to use
because the club always gets fleeced for players with the odd exception. Chelsea have had a system in place for years and years
that allows them to perform better in the market. Liverpool have it too and City well they can spend what they want.

My original point was more about the players bought in rather than the money spent. We have wasted so much money on shite
and finished players that its been a running joke. All of you who criticise Ole can surely at least admit he is attracting better players.,
My issue has been he doesnt get the players he needs in quicker to catch up with everyone else.

Ole is far from blameless but people do not want to give him any credit for the team building he is doing until the control of the Glazers.

Strap yourselves in for more Ole, the Anti-SAF: 24 more years of shit football, top 4 if we're lucky, £4 billion spent on players and 0 trophies because they "are an ego thing"... at least we'll have smiles and good vibes!
I'm gonna chill with some booze and porn.

Or Conte has too much pride than to sit and wait for a club to decide if he's wanted.

I wouldn't wait for United.

Yeah ofcourse if Glazer's have already talked to Conte then the plan is over. The decision has been made.

If that hasn't happened then there is still a chance after the City result because of Contes pride wouldn't have been effected too.
