Nah, we’re not talking about “good/bad” here, we’re talking about technical proficiency in a player. Nobody would say Lisandro Martinez is a better player than Maguire, and yet the former is a starter for a very progressive-thinking manager.

Maguire is decent technically, which is probably more than we’ll ever be able to say about AWB and DDG. He’s in a bad run of form as all players go through, yet this is being exaggerated due to his price-tag.

I do think Maguire can be valuable in the right set-up, just not a high-line/playing out from the back style set-up. Play a deep line and protect him with a solid DM and partner and he can flourish.

Brendan Rodgers - Manchester United manager

it just doesn’t look right

At least we know he'll be hounded out at the first sign of trouble. Similar to Moyes or Nuno at Spurs.

There just won't be any goodwill for him like there would be for Conte or ten Hag.

Top 4 is just the cherry on top. The real achievement is the cultural reset and the good vibes around the club.

Trophies are good, but feelings are priceless.

Just ridiculous these posters think they are fooling anybody when we can see their posting history and the narrative they've clung onto at different times when they have suited them.

The fact, after spending £415m and 3 years, we find ourselves in a scrap for Top 4 yet again, is proof, that whatever mythical cultural reset/foundations/or other bollocks Ole and his minions have been laying during their tenure has been a bust. Because, we are still in same position as we were few years back.... the race for Top 4.

The op says what do we do know? My post is what I THINK will happen, I didn’t say this SHOULD (or shouldn’t) happen and as a match going fan, I’ll do exactly what I feel like.

Fair enough. I wrote about in August, that our board only care about Top 4. Winning silveware isn't on their agenda, nor is good style of football. One of your fellow top reds got quite irked about it and made his feelings known by announcing that I am putting you on ignore. I wonder, what they think now.

(Not aimed at you).

Just because some posters want more success, doesn’t necessarily make them glory hunters or spoiled kids.

Just because some posters aren’t booing Ole at a match, doesn’t necessarily make them idiots or “top reds” or dinosaurs.

There are loads of shades of grey (don’t say fifty)… we all want success, but for whatever our reasons are, we’ll accept it in different ways.

The sooner the Caf gets this the better, as we can stop having dozens of threads about the same things, with the same arguments and the same insults… bet fans of the other clubs who are on here love it.

Roll on the weekend, can’t wait.

Not overreact like Conte is the only man on the planet that could do a good job.

No, but he's probably the only manager available now who can do a good job. If it goes south for Ole in the next few weeks, we're really in the shit.

If he doesn't personally think that, great, but it's something there are people on this forum think. They legitimately believe it's okay for us to turn into the old Liverpool just to watch a memory on screen. They think "Oh we were good for a while, we can suck now, it's okay as long as it reminds me how it was to be young".
I know what you are getting at. If they are happy with fourth place after spending that amount on transfers and wages, they want their bloody heads looking at, of course it isn't their money is it.

The mods can sort these threads quickly.

Who gives a feck what other clubs fans think, we have enough idiots of our own who call themselves fans.

There may be 50 shades of grey but if people think if and when theres a new manager and the #ManagerOut stuff will stop they are fecking morons. Our club is polluted with infantile plastic arseholes who will cry #ManagerOut even when things arent as bad as they have been. They of course will always be right as eventually managers leave but until then they are insufferable and miserable cnuts who if you pull them up on it whine like little bitches and bring out the novel Top red nonsense. You all know the type theres a lot of them on here who will always be miserable unless we are winning a top trophy every year and even then they will still fecking moan.

I don't think people are so annoyed about Conte as they are about seeing another club make a much needed decision while we - for the fourth time in a row - deter.

Conte who has a habit of sticking around and building a long successful project that Conte? Or is there another Conte I am thinking of?

That's nothing to do with the point I was making on this occasion, but I did make a post earlier about why most people get this thing ass backwards. Our obsession with long-termism is making us the most short term club around.

Now I've got some food in me and sat down I've decided if I could pick anyone to take over after the City match I'd bring in Mancini.

Look how he reorganised Italy when they were really poor and brought through some new young players while keeping the egos happy.

I don't care who he's managed in the past.

I am reading that the reason Ole is still here, is because Woodward does not want the end of his reign to be negative. If this is true, Ole will be here for the rest of the season, protected in cotton wool.

A team that is 2 points behind us, a manager that has just had 17 opportunities to prove himself, a club that has not won a trophey in years, has shown 100 times more ambition than United. Within a day they made a decision to sack him and are planning to hire Conte.

It's becoming pointless supporting this club with this board in charge. The question is not even about our manager, its about what our vision is. The sooner Ed goes, the better. Absolute shambles we are, another year written off.

Get used to Thursday night football. Unless the owners start losing money, Ole isn't going anywhere. He'll sink the ship to keep his dream job, regardless of how he wrecks this team. There was never any chance that we would hire Conte. He would have exposed how poorly we've been run and how incompetent our top management is. Besides, how do they explain Oles long contract he just signed? We ain't winning ANYTHING as long as we are owned by inept clowns and will likely chase away a significant number of our players. Pogba, Bailly, DVB, Martial, Lingard, Mata, Matic, Amad, Telles,... will likely be gone in a year. I hope I'm wrong but it fits the Glazers typical script. One that keeps the ATM open and keeps us loyal fans on a short rope.

Won't get any better under Arnold. Ed's equally clueless equally spineless accountant mate.

Arnold and Brenton will lead us into the promised land of the Europa conference next season. Quote me on it.

He might care though. As far as my City supporting mates tell me, he's the manager that City fans have had the closest bond with in the last few decades.

This is what is turning me away from football, i could never support another team as my number one, i am United through and through but the way we are run takes all the fun away. Football should be exciting for us right now, the amount of competition in the mix, we are so far behind it is unreal.

A bit worried we'll get Southgate if Ole goes. I shudder at the thought.
I was never keen on Conte because I don't think it's a match, but I accept that he's a very good manager. But Christ, if we got Southgate i would really stop watching for at least a year. That would be disaster.

Gut feeling is that we will have some surprisingly good options if we wait until May. I've got a feeling some top managers will leave their clubs / make their interest known.

Its infuriating Tottenham are actually productive and are going to get a manager that actually wins something

We on the other hand, persist with Ole whos proven he is out of his depth and has just been battered 5-0 by our greatest rivals at home

Completely and utterly inept.

So what happens if City batter us?

Then you will be appointed manager.

Best of luck!

Exactly this ...

Its clearly not an obsession its a way of building the club back on a sound footing which is really hard when you have absentee owners who refuse to let the club spend the money its creates and only does so begrudgingly after games have to be cancelled due to supporter protest. As for Conte, Conte is short termist, he may get you a trophy (but with Klopp, Tuchel and Pep) but thats not guaranteed. He fit in with the Chelsea model but Chelsea have an owner who will spend a lot of money on players when he is arsed. Do you see the Glazers pumping in the money that Lampard and Tuchel have gotten the last two years? Daniel Levy has had to tell Conte he will spend £100M in the next transfer window to lure him in.

Do you see the Glazers making these promises to short termists like Conte. This is why Jose didnt work, Jose if you give him want he wants will win you trophies eventually even though he isnt anywhere near his peak anymore. If he doesnt get what he wants he becomes a miserable team wrecking fecker. I have said all along that Ole, with all of his faults and lack of experience, would have had us in a much better position if he was able to get all of his players in sooner than he has been able to. The owners are the main issue. Ole is far from blameless but the owners are the main reason we havent competed since Fergie left.

Unpopular Opinion....- But I am Happy. Didn't want Conte.

If Spurs win PL than I LL regret this!

When Spurs have the new manager Bounce..Caf will explode!

Curiously enough, the man Conte will be chasing for the "new manager bounce" is.. Ole Gunnar Solskjær who holds the record for most points accumulated in 10 games as a new manager.

Levy isnt going to spend 100 million in a transfer window, unless he sells Kane which Conte wouldnt like.
Surely Kane will go in the winter IF another juicy offer comes in. He obviously doesn't want to be there & Levy knows it. He's a rat Levy but he's not daft, I think he'll cash in.
That could be one thing that's discussed with the new manager as a positive (putting the fee back into the transfer kitty)

Maybe if it is Conte he'll go for Lautaro Martinez?

See how the rest of the season goes (I think the Glazers will see it out unless we have several big defeats/crash out of Europe)...

If we improve/top 4/win something, Ole likely stays...

If we don't win anything/not in top 4, Ole gets replaced by Ten Hag, Potter, Poch, who knows...

Support team in the meantime...
This pretty much

whine like little bitches....more?

Do you ever post anything of actual value, or just childish one-liners? Is it just on RedCafe where you bring such little value or in life generally?

fecking hell. The fact that someone with such garbage posts has so many posts on this forum and has been on here for this long makes me question if it is a good idea to spend anymore time on here.

Well Lautaro just signed a new deal last week but football is football so ya never know. I would bet that one of Contes stipulations will be that Kane isnt sold. I dont see another top CF available at the minute. Who knows, Conte may be want Kane needs in the short term, but unfortunately for both Kane and Spurs short term is all you are going to get with Conte.

I do, you should go through my posts like Gazza did.

Im not allowed to moan about the relentless moaners then?

Is that how you see it?

Writing a season off with a squad that’s capable of winning major trophies now is baffling.

Standards have slipped at this club. That’s not Oles fault as he’s built a good squad that he’s sadly clearly not capable of winning consistently with.

The clubs hierarchy needs fecked off big time, sadly a decent window in the summer has blown any momentum gained last season.

There's nothing wrong with wanting someone long term. The problem is believing that you can prioritise long term management over successful management. Success is a prerequisite of long term management, not a consequence of it.

No idea about your other stuff, we've spent an absolute fortune on players since SAF left, for all our managers bar Moyes. Finances are nothing to do with why we've failed.

Fergie left almost 10 years ago. Look at Chelseas last two transfer windows. I am also not just talking about money I am talking about buying the right players needed for the team. We only appointed Murtagh and Fletcher in DoF roles last year. Chelsea have had a system in place for decades.

He's not the second coming and I doubt Spurs will win a league title under him. Conte is among the best five or six managers in the world, though, and he's freely available and wants the United job - the tears are largely because United deciding not to take up the option of Conte is a fairly clear indication that Ole will be here until at least the summer, which is not the news that 86.5% of the Caf want to hear.

It is also yet another team with a top manager that we now have to compete with in our own backyard.

This one hurts the most. You can clearly see all our domestic rivals are after the best coaches in the world and aim to be successful while we dither and can’t make a decision to sack a manager who isn’t even two tiers below what our rivals are able to get.

I’m pretty surprised Rodgers is viewed so negatively around this forum. Liverpool connection apart, of course.

I think he’d be a very clever appointment for you guys at the end of the season. His teams always play very nice football and he seems to maximize the qualities of all his players. Also a very good eye in the transfer market and doesn’t need superstars to do well.

If in an alternative universe Tuchel had to step down tomorrow I’d have no problem taking Rodgers at Chelsea.
