Yeah in that case I'd agree that 2024/25 would be the earliest possible best case scenario where we actually challenge seriously or win, but more likely 25/26. 24/25 I'd say a small challenge but not quite enough is realistic?
Season 1 - implement style and top 4 fight
Season 2 - improve and comfortable top 4
Season 3 - challenge for trophies, maybe lack a little to truly go all the way in the PL and CL against Pep/Klopp if they're still there. Should be considered kind of like Chelsea tier now where they can win trophies but are underdogs behind the top group
Season 4 - Serious challenge across all fronts/should be considered one of the top teams
This is kind of what I expect. Might be quicker, but also nothing bad if it's not quicker. It's hard to say or expect quicker when you are competing with Pep and Klopp at City and Liverpool, you need it all to line up and develop together, and that can't be done in 1 or 2 seasons.

I hope they're both ruthless. And Rangnik holds no punches back on how the players have performed since he came in. We now have atleast two people who can try and influence the composition of the squad.

There might be Tuchel, Ten Hag, and Nagelsmann available at the same time. This is going to be an interesting market for a manager this summer.

So it appears the club have gone with the popular social media fan choice, which is unsurprising, given every decision taken at the club appears to be to appease fans opinion on social media. I dont know Ten Haag, I do know that the Dutch league is not as good as the Premier League, so it will be interesting to see how he adapts.
It may be the right choice and after 9 years of bad decisions, I hope it is the right one(it has to be) but I cant help having no faith in the decision making process.
I hope he gets the autonomy to build something from the foundations up, and not bow down to social pressures or player power, which seem to dominate the club these days.
There used to be a saying associated with United - Hated, Adored, Never Ignored - well the way the club has been run for a long time, we have started to become irrelevant, which given our history and worldwide support is some achievement by the Glazers and the Board - well done bravo. With this in mind, they have got to give the man a long time, if they can see him on the right path, as the mess we are in is going to take time to sort out - there is no short term fix.
Accept no CL for the next few seasons, build a new team, one with team spirit, and aspirations of achievement, hard work, and pulling for one another at the heart of it and players that know their roles within the team, and not one player is bigger or more important than the team - only then when we have these basic principles then can we try and build back.

100% - I would suggest they have made almost every other one of their recent decisions has based on Social Media popularity. The commercial side of the club overules the sporting side of the club when push comes to shove. The CR7 signing is a prime example of that - it was a commercial signing at 36-37, not a sporting one. The club has been run terribly for a long time. You really think that Woodward, Arnold, Glazer and co, have the football acumen to make footballing decisions, or they have given anything more than token roles to Murtough/Fletcher who are supposed to be the technical football people in the club, but in reality are finding their way whilst in the jobs - NO they are driven by popular opinion, social media reactions and followers - the problem with that, is most fans know as much as they do, on how to run a football club - it's comical...
Well they would have signed a dm if they were basing everything on social media popularity. In fact Poch would have been the typical glazers choice but the fact that they went for ETH is going against what they always do.
Honestly I dont mind the choice of Ten Haag, they need to give him plenty of time to rebuild the foundations up - I just dont trust the people who make the choice

Thats not true - on every fan poll Ive seen on Social Media - ETH was the overwhelming choice by 80%+ - so lets stick to the facts. The more likely reason they didn't sign anyway in January is because we had an interim manager in place, not the a DM would have solved all the problems anyway, the problem is much bigger than that..
Player power runs deep in this club. I do really hope that EtH has been given assurances to play and axe whoever he wants. Otherwise there will be no change as the previous managers. Time will tell and this summer will give a good indication of outgoings.
Fergie took 6 seasons to win the league. Think about that. 3/4 years might not be long enough to compete with Liverpool and City, maybe Newcastle as well.
If he goes 3 years without making a challenged he will be sacked and I'll be surprised if he lasts that long if he didn't mount a challenge
Regardless of whether he gets the job or not, I am glad Ten Hag is driving a very hard bargain. I hope every single candidate they speak to is as tough with their demands as well. About time the board and the front office realizes that they are the problem. Nobody cares how many sponsors you have or how many followers you have on SM or how many fans you claim to have, Manchester United is first and foremost a football club and has to be run like one if it wants to survive in the long term.
I also hope that whoever is hired doesnt try to "understand the team" or the other crappy phrases used by hapless coaches to buy themselves time. The whole planet knows what this team is about and there is literally nothing left to learn or understand about them. Its time to take out the trash. The rebuild needs to begin from Day 1. Yeah will be interesting how he adapts coming from a weaker league, like Conte, Klopp, Guardiiola, Tuchel, etc...

The Ajax compensation is on the lower end for active managers who haven't been sacked.
His contract was due to run until the end of the season, he extended it by a year last season after Spurs supposedly wanted him. Probably on the proviso that he'd be allowed to leave if a big team came calling.

You say it's based on fan voting but at the same time admit that you don't know Ten Hag? That is some sound logic.
Do we need another striker, we have about 6 of them in the youth set up, it would be ace if we actually gave some of them a run out in the first team.
With Cavani going, Greenwood well yeah, and Martial probably all leaving as well, we might be needing more than just the one, so sign one expensive or experienced striker, and perhaps look to use a few of the outstanding younger strikers from the bench.
I struggle to see how Ten Hag could succeed with the way he wants to play with the likes of Maguire, AWB, Shaw, Fred, McTom, Matic etc. We are going to need a complete overhaul if he is to challenge for titles. He will for certain make Donny a starter but our best hope is that they back him properly to bring in the players he wants.
He is not a miracle maker, he will struggle badly with half the dross we have in this squad. I do not remember the last time our offense was this poor. Rashford is done, so is Martial our future talisman fecked his career, Cavani will leave, Sancho I have hope for and then there's Ronaldo if he stays. So many positions in need of new players any manager would struggle.
