So you that the next manager would want a very expensive 31 year old RB? Ole should be work with what he's got. He is at the wheel and should therefore learn how to drive.
I agree with that. Once Trippier wasn't available on the cheap it was negligence not to have a back up plan.

It might be the case that having Henderson retained here as competition has bought the best out of De Gea again.
My point is we should not have been in a situation where we were relying on our goalkeeper to keep us in the game in the first half at home to Villarreal.

Ideally yes, but it will happen from time to time and if the club have made decisions that have helped De Gea become the kind of keeper that is making those saves again then its worth noting

Return of the player manager with Ronaldo... :nervous:

Zidane would be the obvious one for me but like you I'm not sure he will come to the premier league ... PSG or France would seem a better fit for him.

The one manager I would like to see though even though he has the reputation for negative football is Simeone ... hes a winner and though it would probably take a lot of money to get him I cant help but think he would transform us into contenders very quickly.

Probably we end up with Ole until close to the end of the season when we are out of all competitions and perhaps there will be some clearer options by then?

What do you mean with the bolded part? I don't get it.

Simeone, sure he has the winning mentality and passion but his football is no better than that of Mourinho or Conte. I don't think he would suit us, he has Chelsea written all over him.

Rodgers would be a great, his teams play great football, he won't take 3,5 years to show a specific style, he won't throw players under the bus (for the snowflakes) he works with what he has and no excuses like we don't have an RB, CB, LW or whatever. Maybe the best British manager at the moment.

But as you said we'll end up with Ole until it's too late to save whatever can be saved.

Zidane, Conte, Ten Haag and Potter should be sounded out for their interest behind the scenes. I doubt Ole survives the season the way we are playing.

Player managers used to be fairly common Dalgleish (who won the league) Souness, Robson, Gullitt, Hoddle and I think the last in the english top flight was vialli at Chelsea

Kompany and Rooney have both had a little go at this and given that giving it to giggsy is no longer a viable option is letting a senior player (aka ronaldo) give it a go in the dual role of player manger.

Personaly I think it would be a massive risk as its 20 years since anybody tried that in the english top flight and given the demands of being a top flight player and manger I can see why its avoided - I couldnt see ronaldo backing away from it though if it was offered to him as he seems to like a challenge but i just think its too much for any top player in the premier league - hence the :nervous:

So we should all do a Boris Johnson impersonation: close our eyes and pretend everything is wonderful... sorry but when I smell a fart, I don't pretend it's eau de cologne

No one should ever try and impersonate that donkey ;)

We have got better in literally every single aspect as a club and a team since Ole came in. When he did come in the majority of people would have agreed it would take a good few years to get it sorted and get us back on track, and here we now are, possibly ahead of schedule. We have built a very good squad and trimmed a lot of the fat that we had under Jose. I'm not sure Ole is the man to take us over the line, but for the work he has done to turn things around he deserves this season to prove he can do it.

We have got better but we are no nearer winning anything of note. This is because (a) our owners won't spend enough to guarantee big silverware because that's a massive massive bill combined with (b) their spending (which is nevertheless substantial) is heavily influenced by non football factors and (c) they keep a manager in post for his willingness to accept these two restrictions, sell it to the fans and still get us in the top four, not for his actual ability to win stuff.

Every single win geniuses post on this forum that he got lucky. Shows a real lack of experience of football to think a manager can just only be lucky for hundreds of games years and years in a row. But it's how people justify their anger and bitterness so it will continue

I guess you just stopped reading at "he got lucky with it". Then had a tantrum.

I have two preferences: Erik Ten Hag from Ajax or Gerardo Seoane of Leverkusen.

Both seem to be proper coaches with distinct systems that would fit well at Utd.

Some weird Man Utd's trademark:

1) We make every defenders injury prone

2) Our midfielders are always shits (post Keane, Scholes, Giggs, Beckham)

3) We make every manager play defensive/boring/outdated football and looked very badly coached. (post Fergie)

My worry is even if Klopp were to coach us with high intensity pressing and attacking our players may not be able to string 5 passes together when under pressure.

I agree in spirit. But… like there’s going to be leaders and out of them only few will be great leaders. Just like that, many managers will come and go, like SAF only very few will be able to do it “their way”.

We want Ole out. We were also feckin delighted whenever the club gets a win. Is that so difficult to comprehend?

Jaysus I don't get it why you Ole inners are still peddling with this myth tbh.
There are plenty on here that will reply after a win that "this only delays the inevitable". That "he can't keep getting away with it".

But of course #NotAllOleOuters.

The first part is not correct anymore

Maguire has played 114 games in 2 seasons and 1 month
Shaw has played 127 games in 3 seasons and 1 month
Lindelof has played 138 games in 3 seasons and 1 month
Wan Bissaka has played 107 games in 2 seasons and 1 month

So our 4 main defenders over the last couple of seasons have not lost many games due to injuries. On average they have each played about 45 games a season.

Nah, I think they'll go Xavi. Will be cheaper for them and would buy them some more time from the fan base since he's a legend at the club: see Ole.

That's true. It's probably hard to get the ajax manager half way through the season too after sacking koeman.

We've been so bad this season I honestly don't know how Ole will turn this around.

Soton away - poor performance
Wolves away - really lucky to get anything
Young boys away - embarrassing even with 10 men
Villa home - deserved to lose
West ham away - another bad performance, thankfully de gea saves last min pen
West ham home - bad
Villareal home - another poor performance

That's 7 games this season already where we've been poor!

We haven't been in that situation for 2 season. This is the third and we're off to be best season start thus far (despite the increase in sulking fans).

What's up with the passionate trend of selling the team short when they've done nothing but steadily climb the ladder in terms of results.

Whoever comes in can we abandon this ‘United Way’ bullshit? No more talk of United DNA and the class of 92. We need to move away from a period of football that was played quite differently to today and to keep chasing this dream is just suboptimal IMO.
We are no longer facing teams setting up 442 and playing it long. We need a new, modern approach to coaching and football.

I don't know Aoyaba. If only we had several season worth of data to compare with.

The amount of overreacting here is reaching astronomical levels.

I thought we were decent against West Ham in the league. Still, our performances have been a worry this season.

I don't see the point you're trying to make? Are you saying we haven't been bad this season, or are you comparing us to the past 2 seasons? Remind me again what we won during those years?

All he's saying is we start poorly and grow into the season. The previous seasons we lost a lot of ground early on and couldn't make it up when we did start playing better and got into our groove. This season even though we've played bad we've kept in touch points wise. All of this of course is moot if performances don't improve this season too as we'll be horribly exposed in the upcoming tough run of fixtures if they don't.

Totally agree. If it's one thing Ole has done brilliantly - although I don't know WHAT he has done exactly - but our players are fit and we seldom have injuries anymore.

The point is that we're far, far closer to the top of the league than we have been at this point over the past few seasons. We're not playing catch up after 6 games, like last season and the season before. That seems somewhat pertinent, no?

The poster was talking about our performance levels so far, and they have often been poor so far. That we got fewer points last season at the same point in the season doesn't make any difference to that.

We won't anything with this guy yet you can bet the same people will be here defending him in 3 years time with their 'facts' while at the same time missing the biggest one that he'd win us absolutely nothing, except more dividends for the Glazers.

I've just about given up on United challenging for trophies based on the size of our club and history, we're just on a constant bouncing back curve with some nice vibes from the Ole-approved lads with desire, passion and fight.

Moyes Mk2. Great at a mid table club, may struggle to make the step up to the top teams.
He is nothing like Moyes though. If you are solely talking about the quality of the team, pretty much every single manager (unless you are Pep) has managed smaller teams.

Am I the only one, but I'm starting to dislike Ole now. Not because of the football style but the utter hogwash he spouts off at press conferences and just the constant diversion and spin coming from him is embarrassing.
