Ok, I see your point. Yes, managing a top club without a proper structure around the manager is possibly the biggest job, but surely not the best if you care about your chances of winning stuff. Nonetheless it's definitely something interesting to get United back on track, albeit it's not a title guarantee like some other clubs.

I think some people like the challenge. You are offered a job from big club with lot of resources that trying to find their way to get back to their winning way and be the first manager to be successful to replace Sir Alex Ferguson. I don't know how you are not attracted to that. Some people probably prefer the easy way but some people like tough challenge like this.

Tuchel's the choice. A massive success, a class act and one of the best coaches in the world. If United can get him, you have to take him.

Bang on the money

He was keen but we dithered till Bayern showed interest and of course it was going one way from there. If we struck a deal early in the window when we had no competition he'd have joined us

You're right. Moyes and Woodward weren't interested and Rio Ferdinand claimed Thiago actually asked him to personally put in a good word for him.

Tuchel is not coming to OT. Ten Hag it must be...if he's willing to come here, which I question.

Just out of curosity, imagine if either Poch or Ten Haag fail at Man Utd

Who is the next poster child?

let one of them come first. Promise, the next day we’ll have a “poch/ETH out” thread. We’ll talk about a rebuild and have a poll. We are good at that.

A massive success where? Has not impressed this season with Chelsea.
Won a couple of cups in his career, the french league with PSG, that's it.

He's won 3 trophies this year. Missing out on a 4th purely on penalties. 10 trophes for 3 different clubs since 2017. One of them being a champions league. FIFA coach of the year. What exactly do you consider a "massive success" if not that?

The Guardian reporting that Utd think they have a chance of landing him. Hope that pans out. Would be a cracking appointment.

PSG trophies are not really trophies let's be honest. Apart from them, he has won 2 major trophies, both cups.
No, I don't count glorified community shields like the super cup or other one-game cups as a real trophy.
Massive success is winning a domestic league and a major cup or two in the same season, preferably in consecutive seasons.

A Champions League isnt a major cup? What fine logic you have. Lets not count half of Fergusons league title wins either, since he happened to be the best team in that league as well.

As much as it would be good I think united have only got there eyes on 2 appointments… pochettino or ten Hag. There the long term targets. I don’t think tuchel will leave Chelsea, he’s certainly showing no signs that he wants to.

He won the CL and a german cup as major trophies. So I counted the CL as a major trophy.

Sorry, no it isn't.

Neither the biggest, most powerful club right now (probably City), nor the most prestigious or historically famed (win another 10 CLs and then you might be on par with Real Madrid).

It’s in the top 3 of 4 for sure, I doubt too many managers will care that much if we’re out of the UCL

It’s not like we have any chance of winning it next year, to be honest

Right. We were easily the best team in the league at the beginning of the season and throughout last year, both incredible defensively and incisive in attack - lacking a finishing touch in a lot of instances.

This season has had a multitude of issues and we have definitely lost form but the results are still there, our problem is drawing too many games, we have only lost 3 times. If that’s not impressive you need to go home and rethink your life

Having said that, there’s nothing in Tuchels interviews or behavior to suggest he is ready to walk. He has simply stated the obvious, he is very happy, settled and wants to stay however who knows what the situation will be at the end of the season. This does not equate to trash Daily Mirror stories of him ready to walk, sensationalist headlines to sell a rag.

Would be typical for our board to have 6 months to find A manager and then suddenly waste more time because Tuchel ’might’ be available end of May. Then as a result missing out on Poch and ten Hag after being told Tuchel isn’t available.

Yeah could totally see that happening knowing how utterly dreadfully we are run

Sounds like Chelsea are going to have some pretty wealthy owners so I don't think Tuchel is remotely realistic. Just get whichever of Poch or ETH we want now and stop wasting time and inevitably destroying next season as well. Enrique is also completely out of the question for me. We can't just throw away any progress being made next season especially since we're losing some big players in the summer due to contracts expiring and we've already shown we won't buy anybody until the new manager is in place.

Yeah the Tuchel talk will die completely when Chelsea get their new owners

Whoever it is, I hope we announce him as soon as possible.
If I remember correctly, City announced Guardiola after january window while both Pellegrini and Pep were still in charge of their respective clubs.
I don't see why can't we announce ETH early given our strong and friendly ties with Ajax, if he is the 'Chosen one'.

What is it? Results are still there or drawing too many games?
We had a manager who liked drawing games as well. Also a former Chelsea manager.
The Champion's League has just been sanctioned as a major trophy by "Roario". Whew! :D
Yank it down will you? Roberto di Matteo won it.

Last night Scholes said after the game:

"Aside from Pep & Klopp, any manager should be gettable by United" and this means he includes Tuchel as being gettable.

I Kinda agree to be honest, managers like Tuchel and Simone, and others no listed in the poll should also be considered by the club and see if there is a chance in getting them if they are deemed to be the best option going forward.
Lukaku came to Chelsea under Tuchel which seems like a waste of 100mil.

Just curious, what’s the benefit of announcing it so early? If it’s to attract/keep players than that’s more likely dependent on CL qualification. What possible other benefit could there be? If anything it would just be a distraction. Top 4 is gettable rn esp if we can get a result against Pool. Our sole focus should be on that, nothing else. Let the board make the decisions in the background.

Even though I want Tuchel but I think the quicker we sort this one out, the better so the new manager can prepare for this massive job asap. This is why we shouldn't even consider Tuchel because we are going to need to wait until end of the season or even the start of pre season. ETH remains as my preference.

Tuchel is not good enough to challenge Pep or Klopp, which is what we need. Whether Ten Hag is or not remains to be seen, but I'd rather take a chance than simply go with the foregone..

We should buy a manager who has won titles, no matter how small it is. We have players in the squad who are flashy and skillful , but none of them are winners. They need to have that mentality.
I think it is really important that we win something in a season or two.

Can believe we are at the same stage or worse after we sacked Mou, and that too after spending huge amounts of money. We can't afford to go for likes of pocchetino who did not win the title with PSG with that squad and in that league. At this point, our club does not need style it needs the winning mentality.

Pochetinno is winning the French title this season without competition

We're expecting too much. Who can realistically challenge those two next season? I mean really. Conte is the only one I can think of considering his excellent record with league titles but is he the right guy for the United position? ETH is not challenging those two in my opinion, but I'd welcome him here if appointed because that would mean we can expect better football.

It's unrealistic for us to expect to challenge Liverpool or City even within the next two seasons in my opinion. Let's focus on becoming a good footballing side again and the rest will follow. We will actually attract good players who want to play for footballing reasons primarily, to be part of an exciting project. It took Klopp 5 years for instance for his vision to bear fruit. Our thinking needs to change

If anyone is good enough to challenge Pep or Klopp it's Tuchel. The way some people are underrating the current Champions League winner, who by the way, managed it with a far weaker squad than Pep or Klopp is laughable. Don't think there's any way Tuchel would leave Chelsea to join us unfortunately.

Don't see any manager turning things around to be honest. Feel sorry for Ralf. He is just stuck in a mess created for three years by some other guy. Shit squad, shit mentality, toxic dressing room and no time or power to change anything. Whoever comes in after this has got to be having superpowers!!

Remember when people were turning their noses up at Tuchel and Nagelsmann cause our previous manger beat them

Which one would you be more scared of: Ten Hag going to another PL rival or Poch going to another PL rival?

"Hipster managers. Whoop whoop" Now we're picking up the pieces and having to rebuild from the so called rebuild except now the same lot act like he had no hand in putting together said pieces. Meanwhile one of those hipster managers went on to win the CL in the same season. It's like some of our fans have a humiliation fetish.
