That is why United announced the appointment of an interim. Everyone knew they would not let their manager go mid season.
I wonder if this was all created by the media for clicks.

We will see the developments 2mro

Expect us to announce Ragnick on Monday after the Chelsea game. Hopefully that leads to us getting Ten Hag in the summer rather than going back in for Poch.

Just think Poch' is benefitting from a lot of hype, and I, personally, am interested to see how he manages this PSG team. They have fabulous sqaud, decent fan base, located in a terrific city. He also has cash to spend.

And he wants to leave??

This concerns me, greatly. I think he feels he can manage the Premiership, and maybe out of his depth at PSG. I would like to see some guts from him, dig in and deliver something at PSG. Then leave.

The PSG fans like him too, he played there btw. I just need to be convinced of the of Pochettino today, not the one at Spurs a few years ago.

And we have time to consider matters, and we should take that time.

The difference between managing the historic United back to greatness vs being a royal oil play thing is a huge difference for someone who loves football.

Must be nice to have such an optimistic view on how this club operates.

Looks like we are going interim manager route. If this was the case, we should go all out for Ten Hag in the summer.

Fonseca ? The guy who was managing Roma when we spanked them 6-2 ? Must be a joke.

Not familiar with him but apparently he agreed to take over Spurs before their DoF rejected him in favour of Nuno. Spurs fans weren’t thrilled either way I think. Let’s hope it’s one of the other four if he’s that bad.

All the available interims have been spanked and there is a reason they are jobless. There is no interim the quality of Pep available. I am not sure what else you expect.

Judging by the reports it seems we haven't even made much of an effort for Pochettino beyond initial feelers and seem intent on an interim. On the one hand i feel like we could waste the season doing this, on the other this seems like Jon Murtogh doing his due dilligence and not wanting to make the mistakes that Woodward has made all these years, by waiting until next summer until more realistic long term candidates can be assessed and then signed.

Fonseca will be a terrible appointment even as an interim. We want someone to help us see through the season, not feck it up completely.

I am not saying he will be good, there probably are better options we can get but there is not many to choose from.

Jeez people would have turned down Tuchel because of his PSG stint. Poch's is 11 points ahead in novemeber and on pace to walk the league. Would require a massive massive reach to use his ligue 1 stint against him. I actually just looked up PSG's position because I don't follow the league and the thread legit had me thinking he was 3rd or something.

If his team is performing this well while managing chemistry problems I'd like to see what good chemistry looks like under him. Must be an amazing ceiling potential. The negativity spin being put on their situation is something else.
That's what happens when people have set agendas.

While there’s a risk that people are making the same mistake as they had done with Tuchel, we should also consider the fact that we have PSG fans here telling us that Tuchel did much better there than Poch has. I don’t think it’s necessarily a set agenda. And of course there are some who just don’t rate Poch quite that highly even based on the heights of his Spurs days.

I'd rather have Daniel Fonseca.

We need Pep to deliver for us. 3/4-0 for Citeh today and we might be in business.

Lets hope you are right about the process, however another report says PSG only stopped us getting Poch now because Zidane turned them down.

Didn’t you say you didn’t even know who he was 3 months ago? I might have misread, my bad.
No problem. I said why all of a sudden in the past 3 months did his name come up. I do know who he is and I'll tell you what, out of all the current interim names being thrown around like Valverde, Lucien Favre etc, I'd actually take Ragnick ahead of those.

Reading these boards sometimes makes me ponder if we have the type of club some of our fanbase deserve (e.g. a shitshow)

I would slightly prefer ten hag if both him and poch were available now but if we can get poch now I would definitely go for him over waiting the rest of the year for ten hag and having a disappointing interim for the rest of the season. If we get an interim on board that gives our board 6 months or so to consider who to appoint permanently, a lot of people seem to think this is a good thing but I think it just gives the idiots that run our club more time to cock up the decision.

For those querying why poch would leave psg (assuming he has actually said he will), I personally think the fact he is actually desperate for the united job is a good thing. PSG are a basket case and if he has a long held ambition to manage united then great. There is a risk he might not be upto leading us to a title but i don't see that this is any different to ten hag, who is fortunate to have a very good setup around him at ajax and has never had to manage superstar players

I find this talk way too premature, Poch hasn't even finished his 1st full season. Tuchel in his 1st season did great in the league but lost in the two french cups to Rennes and Guingamp. We all know what happened in the CL, United had a lot of luck that night but Tuchel did two huge mistakes playing Kehrer and Buffon.

He put in place a scouting network which is described by the guys at TGG (link you've provided) as being very impressing as far as the personnel that have been brought in to make up the scouting network, which has been put into divisions domestically/Europe/world with figure heads at the top. He's also created a data science department from scratch, which we never had, shockingly for me.

How much input do you think the data science guys have had in our signings? I think clubs like Liverpool / City are light years ahead of our data department. I've read papers released by both clubs that deal with game state, expected possession value, expected threat etc etc and they went way beyond player signings already. My impression of the United "data science" is a football manager like database where you have a list of players you can filter by attribute and watch some clips of them (e.g., find fullbacks whose xA per 90 > 0.8 and show some highlights). A lot of it is still very manual, relying on human decision making.

Likewise we made changes to the scouting network but it remains to be seen how well it worked. We did get Bruno (no top clubs interested in him when we signed him) and tried very hard to sign Haaland and Bellingham (again Dortmund were the only ones in the running there and weren't very well known when we tried to sign them), so maybe things improved.

I would love to have a discussion with anyone who wants to discuss our football structure in a civilized way. I'm actually very optimistic regarding the current structure and believe it's helped us improve the football side from the youth to the first team. But the guys heading the recruitment structure, shouldn't be made to work with a manager but rather a head coach IMO.

Likewise. My assumptions before the season started were that Woody and co were kind of incompetent when they first started out but learnt a lot of lessons from the school of hard knocks and throwing all that out and getting new people in will be futile.

But given the whole Ole fiasco (new contract in the summer, not sacking him after the 5-0, not having contingency plans at all, missing out on Conte, pretending to show a backbone by not bowing to pressure and still bucking and sacking Ole in the end, not using the international break to find a caretaker manager etc. etc.)

I think they are fundamentally incompetent and I'd be more than happy if we go get outside expertise.

I went from not fussed on Poch, to really wanting him to come in, but at the moment the Ragnick coming in as interim, and then possibly Ten Haag in summer looks to me a better option in eyes.

At least this time, we look like we actually are taking this next appointment very seriously.

Ragnick would really shake it up, would start feeling like we are making the right moves with proper footballing people, especially if he was to move to DOF at the end of it.

Would also suit whoever it is end of season, even if it's Poch having serious direction up above in how the club going to approach football operations.

I think it’s more down to general performances than results. Like with Ole, you could tell pretty early on that he wasn’t likely to go very far despite the results being decent. Whereas with someone like Klopp or Pep you could see the potential quickly even if the immediate results weren’t quite there.

You are right though that Poch may still turn out good at PSG, or at least no worse than Tuchel was there.

.
If we go with Rangnick I'm convinced that Murtaugh has decided that this is the transition to Ten Hag in the summer. 100%.
Murtough is trying to bring Rangnick in as the interim head coach according to The Athletic. Not sure if he'll succeed in bringing him in though.

We've seen Poch with Espaniol, Southampton and Tottenham and he's already shown his pedigree. We got to watch Poch's Tottenham for years and they were brilliant, so I'm not going to pretend the guy is average based on some stint at PSG where many top class managers simply couldn't make it work(Ancelotti, Tuchel, etc). Not to mention Poch supposed struggles with PSG are overblown, the guy is running away with the league in his first full season and doing just fine in the CL so far.

It's getting beyond a joke now that people are saying Poch is not good enough while at the same time hyping up a guy like Ten Hag who has not achieved even a tenth of what Poch has done had only performed in the Dutch League and is two years older.

We are going to end up with these "fans" willing Poch to fail if he becomes or boys and criticizing every move he moves ala Ole

Same here, Ragnick is my preferred choice for interim coach.

Yeah calling Poch average wouldn’t be right, but it’s not unreasonable to be sceptical that he's really in that top tier of coaches alongside the likes that are currently at our rivals. Of course whether Ten Hag or anyone else are is another question.

It’s good to see Murtough’s name being prominently mentioned instead of just Woodward Judge and Arnold (or SAF). It’ll be a test for him so let’s hope he knows what he’s doing and that he’ll be allowed to make the necessary decisions.

Though it seems a little odd that he’s gunning for Rangnick given that it would be his position that Rangnick is ultimately eyeing, no?

Of course he is, and hopefully stays for sdifferent role for a while after
Yup move him up to DOF and get Ten Hag in over the summer.

Main reason I like Ragnick is besides his great coaching, he always has a vision for the club he’s managing and a great future set up so the next manager after him settles in nicely.

Personally, I am absolutely flabbergasted that the club has decided to hand an interview to David Moyes. He has already had a shot and failed. It's somebody else's turn now. Fecking imbeciles running this club, we should burn down OT.

Can’t believe we’ve offered Moyes the job. The state of this club.
