Lopetegui?…..fecking hell it gets worse.
Fergie should come out for the remainder of the season.
This is a risky job to take right now. A grossly unbalanced squad with rampant egos and an incompetent board. A managerial reputation could easily be in tatters by spring.
My worry is that the elite level managers we need (Poch, ETH, Zidane) will be saying no thanks, at least until the summer when they could work with the squad and have a transfer window to change things.
Leaving the odds and ends. The ones many years past their best (Blanc), the not quite good enough (Rodgers), the complete gambles (Potter, Lopetegui etc).
But we're still so early in the season that we can't ask an interim like Fletcher to busk it until May because we could genuinely drop to lower mid-table.
What an unbelievable mess. Which could all have been solved by giving Conte an 18 month contract. Books will be written on this clusterfeck of a board.
I suspect they'll go with Blanc to steady the ship until May, and it'll be another disaster.
A lot of managers have a shelf life. Mourhino and Benetiez are prime examples. I think Poch and Rodgers fall into that category now. Time to move on. What the choice was 3 years ago, is totally different now.
I’m not sure who the next manager should be because I don’t really follow European football in depth to give an opinion, but what I do know is who definitely shouldn’t be the next manager.
This time we MUST get it right.
We need a manager who will take no nonsense from any of these players.
You must give 110% every game.
Respect for the manager coaches and fans.
So let me get this straight. We were embarrassed by Villa, Leicester, Liverpool, City, drew to Atalanta. A two week International break was the perfect time to sack him. Nothing happens. Get smashed by Watford. The board has an emergency meeting that every single person in the media is aware about. Ole is sacked but replaced when Fletcher and Carrick, who are already involved with the shambles on the pitch. How are we this badly run?
Surely you always have a back up plan should things go wrong. I read a few years ago Southampton always have a list of up to 8 managers they would contact should they need to sack the manager. Where is the succession planning?
We let him slip.So Conte then.
I like the Lopetegui shout. Would prefer him over Ten Hag.
This is not a grossly unbalanced squad. A decent manager will get a great tune out of this team. Organise the defence and watch. Banish Fred and see what VDB can do and create a style of play. This is a risky job to take right now. A grossly unbalanced squad with rampant egos and an incompetent board. Oh come on
Didn’t do anything great afterwards?
He went on to win a load of trophies in Scotland, ok it’s Scotland, but he won several trophies with Celtic, rebuilt his stock, jumped to Leicester who had be flirting with the middle of the table for a few seasons, Rodgers comes in and they suddenly start challenging for top 4 winning the FA Cup.
That’s all pretty darn good if you ask me.
I’m not saying he’d be suitable for United, I don’t think United should go for him is my personal opinion.
But to suggest he’s done nothing great is imo blindsightedness.
He’s obviously a good manager, just because he’s not suited for United at this moment in time doesn’t mean he’s a nothing manager.
A great cdm is the spine of any team. We have been missing that for years. This is not a grossly unbalanced squad. A decent manager will get a great tune out of this team. Organise the defence and watch. Banish Fred and see what VDB can do and create a style of play.

My preference would be a British manager who can help putting the right structure in place and sets out to play modern high pressure football as we see Shitty, the scousers and Chelsea play. Best candidate to meet those requirements is probably Potter.
I bet it's gonna be Rodgers. Our amazing board were probably like "What name should we brief to media so that even Rodgers would sound like an amazing hire?" and they came up with Spanish Moyes.
Was wondering where the feck this Julen Lopetegui nonsense was coming from then I took a quick look at the La Liga table and realised Sevilla are top of the league. That's the extent of the research done on him by the people in charge...
Why does the manager have to be British?
Because I would prefer somebody in charge who understands the British football institution that is Manchester United. Ethnicity isn’t important, as long as it’s a Brit.
The Lopetegui better be links coming from his side.
He is nowhere near deserving of the job.
A manager that infamously couldn't handle the Madrid dressing room getting a United job. What could possibly go wrong? But I'm sure the being top of the table in November while Madrid and Barcelona are a mess trophy is high on our recruitment criteria.Says the poster who had to check said table to see how Sevilla where actually doing but had his mind made up about Lopetegui anyway…
But why do they have to be British to understand the club and its ethos?
Do you think Klopp doesn't understand Liverpool?
Living in The Netherlands I can ensure you most Dutch don’t really understand just how big the club is and what the club is about.
Its arguable and there are better candidates. BUT if its Lopetegui vs Brentan I'm taking Lopetegui every f'n day of the week.
