We need a manager who has a very good CV and has won trophies, dressing room needs someone to look up to and be inspired by and the manager needs to know what winning trophies feels like and how empty a feeling it is when you dont. Rodgers is not the man for the job, Zidane doesnt want the job and Im not sure hes the right choice either, the Madrid team he had when winning everything was special.
Ten Hag would be my choice, exciting attacking football and has clear idea of how to achieve this and win trophies. Involved with Bayern for a while and learned from Pep and had to deal with all the star players they had at the club as well so think the transition wouldnt be too bad.
Conte was never the right choice, maybe short term for the rest of the season until we get the preferred choice but never as a long term thing.

The next manager would likely be the one fans have very little patient for because now we have a good squad that doesn't need 2 years before we start seeing progress. The next manger would also likely not have the pedigree of Van Gaal and LVG or the sentimentality of Moyes and Ole so fans wouldn't care to wait before progress

Fair enough, but Ole knew how big the club is and what it's about and it didn't help him much.

Maybe Ten Hag would understand the club. Maybe he wouldn't.

Ten Hag would be an excellent choice if we had a structure in place like Ajax where Ten Hag purely focuses on the first team’s selection, tactics and coaching.

Blanc hasn’t been in top level football for 5 years. He’s currently 8th in the Qatari league.

Sacking ole after the Liverpool game and bringing conte in would’ve felt relatively good. Now it’s just a complete mess where we all fully expect the board to make the worst choice. Utterly depressing really.

Julen Lopetegui - I've never heard of this guy!

I wouldn't have him either, but that says more about you than him. He's managed Real Madrid, Spain, Porto and Sevilla.

Whoever comes in next, first thing should be to talk to each player individually and ask them if they want to play for the club. Any hesitation and they should be shown the door.

This could of course be problematic if Zidane gets it, despite not really wanting the job, apparently...

He was good enough for Madrid and Spain.
Which is like saying Moyes was good enough for Man Utd, because he was appointed.

Yet everyone is gagging for Ten Hag - who has won what?
You're aware Ajax can't actually win the CL? Which makes it impossible for anybody at Ajax to ever meet your criteria, unless they literally get an academy crop that includes Kluivert, Seedorf, Davids, Overmars, De Boer, Blind, VDS. He's overachieving and playing brilliant football. Good results in Europe and 3 league titles in 3 years, 2 years in which he also won the double.

Who would you want or who is available that has won any better? Zidane, and then who? Ten haag is flavour of the month, what’s he won?
Koeman would be a better appointment than Lopetegui. He's won a cup at nearly every club he's managed (including Barca), got a shite Barca in a title race, he has PL experience (and for all the shit he gets at his Everton failure he did well at Shampton). He's won multiple titles in Holland, including with AZ which is quite a feat
His CV is much better than Lopetegui who has won the whopping total of one Europe League, was a Moyes like failure at RM and has never managed in the PL.

Obviously Koeman isn't anywhere close to my first choice, but if even his credentials are better than Lopetegui than you shouldn't be implying there's no better managers available, especially as we missed out on both Tuchel and Conte in less than a year's time.

Flavour of the month ETH had a brilliant CL run, then had to do a complete rebuild and just smashed his CL group with Ajax's limited resources. He played some brilliant footy in the EL last year as well in which he dominated the L1 champions in both ties and only got fecked because he was forced to play his 3rd GK, an academy kid who was utter shit. You know the type of shit that wouldn't happen at Utd because we have resources and a professional 3rd GK. Not really flavour of the month if you've been overperforming for 3 seasons, including with 2 different squads.

So to answer your question I'd take Zidane, ETH, Rodgers, Bielsa, Gasperini, Slot over the Spanish Moyes any day of the week and I'd take anyone with a pulse over him as an interim, including Blanc, Hiddink, Koeman, Rangnick.

The "there's no one available" narrative has to die.

Bit ironic that Blanc is a bit of a racist

It was actually a real problem in french football, the issue isn't the skin colour but the emphasis on athleticism over technique and tactical intelligence. That's how the likes of Evra, Kanté and Griezmann couldn't find academies in France.

Let’s get him in then, top manager isn’t he.

Feck me this club is a complete fecking mess.
I'm not suggesting we should or shouldn't.

He's been successful before and after Madrid. Suggesting that Madrid isn't the best of environments for some managers/players.

I take this thread more seriously now Ole might actually be going.

I think an interim manager until summer by which point even our board should hopefully have time to actually make a decision and sort out a longer term appointment.

We have such a pool of talent, a good tactician could turn this around. But it would then be likely the interim would be offered the job! So maybe we just need to go all out for our next manager.

Lopetegui is actually surprisingly left field for us I feel, but I wouldn't be against it. I would be excited to see the guy from River Plate or Galthier though, although I think both would be deemed too risky by our dithering board.

We need a crew to modernise our coaching methods and know-how. It‘s clear that the likes of Phelan are horribly outdated and it shows on the pitch.. Rooney alluded to it when talking about Van Gaal years ago.

Sacked after 20 games for spain. Sacked after 14 games for Real.

Like I said, I wouldn't have him, but you've just got to have not been paying any attention at all to anything outside the PL to have not heard of him.

If the board are going to try and buyout Brendan Rodgers from his Leicester contract, they should be sacked on the spot.

There is no way we can go for someone that has failed somewhere else, trying to put forward excuses as to why. The only type of person we should be hiring is someone who has only known success recently, and all they need is a bigger platform. This whole 'they deserve another chance' arc is for another club to take on, we don't need that sort of risk at all.

Looks like we are not rushing the decision. As per official report, we will appoint interim manager, hopefully ten hag in the summer

Lopetegui's record apart from the last 2 years at Sevilla and a spell at Porto is pretty mediocre and he's only been in charge just over 200 games for Porto and Sevilla combined. Sacked after 20 games as Spain manager for taking the Real job on the eve of the world cup and then sacked by Real after 6 defeats in 14 games. Also sacked at Rayo Velecano after 11 games. Doesnt immediately strike you as an elite option.

You mean including his spell at Porto?

Of the above list. I'd only even consider Conte, ten Hag and Rodgers.
As we've clearly fecked up with Conte and ten Hag seemingly won't come until the summer if at all. That leaves Rodgers as the standout candidate for me.

Interesting how we’ve said that we are looking at interim manager until the end of the season. Shows that the manager we want is not available at present. Why else would you say “until end of season”?

Makes it more likely to be Ten Hagg.

Ten Hag coached Bayern's second team. It is true he worked with Pep, but more on general terms to make sure that first and second team play in a similar way. Ten Hag was not involved in Pep's training sessions and therefore also did not work with their star players.

They are looking at an interim....does that mean ten hag? That would be tasty.
