Are you not bored with using the same players every fecking time?
I mean who doesnt want to do some new research and use some new players he doesnt need to play this, when you guys played 40s(think it was that) draft i skipped it as i had zero interest in it.

Think i will go back to my original idea, why i love enigmas that you block even more but reckon players blocking multiple countries would be a bit too much
I'll AM someone I struggled to make a team of 11 by myself on that challenge thing floating about last week. Granted that was in my lifetime, but still think I'd be too laid back and end up blocking every player possible by the late rounds of drafting.
Draft Rules
1. Every player must have at least one full game online.
2. Initial squads will be formed of 12 players.
3. Snake style drafting.
4. Once the pick is posted there is no going back, in case of a invalid pick the next manager doesnt need to wait but the invalid pick and be replaced anytime.
5. One club, one nation rule. Which means if you picked Nicky Butt you cant anymore pick from - England, Man Utd, Newcastle, Birmingham and club named South China.
6. Nation rules - We going by the first cap for the national team, if the player didnt play for the national team we go by the place of birth. So in case of a player playing for multiple countries they will count/block just the first one - Puskas(Hungary not Spain).
In case of countries that dont exist anymore, if a player played for a new country after playing for the non existing one he counts as a player of the new country - Prosinecki(Croatia not Yugoslavia or Germany), if the player didnt play for the new country he goes by the place of birth(current borders) - Khurtislava(Georgia not USSR).
7. No teammates rule - to avoid pairing up players from different countries that played only for non existing one - Khurtislava and Shesternyov for example.

1. There shall be no subs during the game, but tactical changes are permitted.
2. In the event of a draw, the winner shall be decided based on the goalkeeper standings from the Caf. In case both goalkeepers are not on the list the winner will be decided by a non playing draft member, synco if he wants the role.

think this should cover eveything regarding the nation rule, open to any suggestion that doesnt allow picking 2 players from same nation

Just one suggestion since it's a more straight forward draft, reinforcements should be clear from the off so it could allow themes/planning when making your picks.

yeah, they would be straight forward just have to see how to fit them into the draft theme
Yes, I'm also not interested in arguing for or against tier 3 player from a random club.Not saying that'd happen here, but just cautioning against that. Have already signed up anyway. Let's see how this goes.

It's not a Reserves Reserves draft. It's an all time draft with all players ever available. We've done one player per nation draft and it was still filled with GOATs till last round just arranged differently. This is more restricted but don't see us getting anywhere near random players.
Hope there's no additional block list or anything @Šjor Bepo . The restrictions are more than enough.

It won't be THAT bad and generally you should have 2-3 great players in your team either way. Should be interesting.
Can I suggest a min age of 30 for anyone who is drafted? It will mess up the debates. A current 20 year old and Peter Shilton would make no sense for a debate.
I suggest then players must have been born on or before 31st Dec 1989
there is absolutely no chance i will ban the current players, if you dont think a certain player has long enough peak call him out in the match thread and rate him less.

I remember times when drafts used to fill up in less than an hour and people wake up to find themselves becoming an AM.

Yep, you can definitely sense the declining interest. For the most part, draft regulars just aren't being replaced in great numbers by new participants (perhaps more could be done to make it a beginner-friendly enterprise without compromising on overall quality) or newbies (zero interest in Newbie drafts from the posters down there unfortunately so there are no semi-finished articles off the conveyor belt). Close to 30 members have either stopped participating entirely or been signing-up quite sparingly...
And these are just the ones I remember, there must be more. Massive hemorrhage for a community that was small-ish to begin with and mostly relied on its own subculture for numbers.
We have more drafts now and are partly hidden in a sub forum. So interest doesn’t build up between drafts and we catch less new blood. For example if we were to wait 2 months until kicking off the next draft I imagine sign up would be done in a few hours. Not a problem if drafts are still running though.
Would an occasional generic draft promotion thread in the main football forum help improve numbers? Also would the mods allow it?
Someone should advertise this draft in the original thread in the football forum. Might get a people interested who already posted their teams.

Sadly I'm still working at the moment so I wouldn't really have time to play. I do enjoy watching from a far though and this draft looks very interesting.
I think a targeted post every now and then would be helpful. For example, a post in the original thread for this topic as BigDunc suggested. Or if we were doing a specific theme/league/era then we could post or hook into a thread on the football forum on that basis. That would help to recruit the 'single-issue' posters whose juices get flowing by certain football sub-genres.
I think letting the finals thread of every draft be in the football forum is not a bad idea. One game per draft should not be a big inconvenience to be honest.

wouldnt even bother with mains, the one that are interested in this type of things find it anyways....we should start fishing from time to time in newbies though, they wont get the numbers there but every once and a while we can drop a post to see if there is anyone that is interested to play it here.
It's not that easy mate. The sub forum is way too hidden. I don't think most would know something like this even exists on the Caf unless they knew where to go specifically or unless they were an old enough member when this wasn't a sub forum.

Yeah, it is hard to find if you don't know it exists. The best you get is having the draft post as the latest post in the forum list page
It's not exactly advertising though is it. For people to be interested, they should know something like this even exists. I didn't even know there was something as a draft game till I saw the first few games on here.
