Next 7 league fixtures - acceptable points total?

On the positive, Ruben seems really good at rotating players so we will at least be going into the matches fresh. We also have a pretty much fully fit squad for the first time in a long time. I think we can get 16 points which will be fantastic

Can't see us getting much away at Arsenal or Liverpool just now, but with City in meltdown we could reasonably nick a point there, maybe even do them. Probably win 3/4 of the other games, draw one. 11-13 points.
Ye I think the city games the easiest of the 3 which is quite weird saying that. I just think unless pep sorts his defence out we could run riot there to be fair, spurs and sporting both scored 4 past them so with there high line and the way Amorim system is set up we could have joy.

I don't expect a lot of points from those fixtures. Likely a shellacking or two in the next 10 games (incl. cup games). Hoping that our overall play gets better and a first XI starts emerging by the time it comes to the New Year.

Anything over 12 points would be an excellent return, imo. Everyone drops points during this time of the season. I'd be happy if we are still within 6-8 points of a top 4 spot at the turn of the year.

Add in the cup games for context and next 10 total:
  1. Arsenal away (league)
  2. Forest home (league)
  3. Plzen away (Europa)
  4. City away (league)
  5. Spurs away (league cup)
  6. Bournemouth home (league)
  7. Wolves away (league)
  8. Newcastle home (league)
  9. Liverpool away (league)
  10. Arsenal away (FA Cup)
3-4 days between every game until the gaps from Newcastle to Liverpool and Liverpool to arsenal is basically full weeks. My guess is 5 wins, 2 draws and 3 losses across all competitions, with us getting knocked out of the 2 domestic cups.
Looks like TeHag consumed the easy run..

I think we will win against Plezen, go through to next round in 2 domestic cups and get 16 points out of 21.

2 point average would be good but I agree with Amorim to look more to the performance than the results for now.

Arsenal (A)
Forest (H)
City (A)
Bournemouth (H)
Wolves (A)
Newcastle (H)
Liverpool (A)

Brutal run, in fairness. Even the “easy” ones have banana skin written all over them.

I’d be happy enough with 10+ points, assuming performances are decent.
Arsenal and Liverpool will beat us. City maybe a draw, but the rest all winnable.so 13 pts I reckon.

I'd be happy with 10/11 from that lot, still early days and could be a blessing to have them 3 away games done and dusted early in his reign.

Arsenal (A) 0
Forest (H) 3
City (A) 1
Bournemouth (H) 3
Wolves (A) 3
Newcastle (H) 3
Liverpool (A) 0

13 points will be good. I'm looking to change those 0s to 1s & 3s next season but we've not had long enough with the new management to expect anything more, in my opinion.

Arsenal (A) - Lose
Forest (H) - Win
City (A) - Draw
Bournemouth (H) - Draw
Wolves (A) - Win
Newcastle (H) - Win
Liverpool (A) - Lose

11 Points

Arsenal (A) - Loss
Forest (H) - Win
City (A) - Draw
Bournemouth (H) - Win
Wolves (A) - Win
Newcastle (H) - Draw
Liverpool (A) - Loss

11 points IMO.
This is my exact prediction
Although the only doubt is an emphatic city win v us to get their season back on track

I'll say 12 and i think its optimistic. Arsenal, Liverpool and City are better than us, they're at home, they should beat us. City have 2 games to get their shit together and even if they dont they'll be a different prospect in a derby.
Wins in remaining fixtures would be an excellent result against good teams in good form. Wolves aside, we should beat them handily enough.

Arsenal (A)
Forest (H)
City (A)
Bournemouth (H)
Wolves (A)
Newcastle (H)
Liverpool (A)

Brutal run, in fairness. Even the “easy” ones have banana skin written all over them.

I’d be happy enough with 10+ points, assuming performances are decent.
Tough run:

Loss
Win
Loss
Win
Win
Tie
Loss

So yeah 10 points or thereabouts.

Arsenal (A)
Forest (H)
City (A)
Bournemouth (H)
Wolves (A)
Newcastle (H)
Liverpool (A)

10 seems about right. Assuming most likely losing each away fixture to the big sides, and then probably drawing one of the other 4 as a realistic outcome.

Would be happy with anything above that.

More important than points tally is where we are in terms of our competition after this run.

We're currently 4 points from 4th, and remarkably only 6 points from 2nd, and it looks quite likely that 5th place will get a CL spot.

If we can come away from this fixture list without too much damage on that front, we'd be in good shape to kick on.

Losing all 3 of those fixtures shouldn't be considered disastrous for any United manager. Never mind someone who's barely got his foot in the door, forced to pick teams from another manager's squad.

I think he'd see it that way. Ten Hag had such a poor record in those games and i think the fact that these ones occur in reasonably quick succession it could be an enormous confidence knock. I don't expect at all to go out with some masterclass but if we're reasonably competent and competitive it would be very unlucky to lose all 3

Someone already predicted 21 points, how are we supposed to get more than that?
22 points

To be fair - I read 10 points in OP. I think it'll be more than that.

13 points minimum.

We concede still but absolutely carry a goal threat compared to a 10 Hags team.

We will win the home games and beat Wolves, nick a point at Anfield.

Realistically expecting something like this.

Arsenal (A) - 1
Forest (H) - 3
City (A) - 1
Bournemouth (H) -1
Wolves (A) - 3
Newcastle (H) - 3
Liverpool (A) - 0

12 points. 3W, 3D, 1L. But I wouldn’t be shocked if we lose to Arsenal and City, and draw with Newcastle. So 8 points would be the lowest end.

Have to say I think 12 points is optimistic. 14 is borderline mental. That’s just 1 loss and 2 draws from about as hard a run of 7 fixtures as we’ll ever get. Top four (at least?) form from a new manager who inherited a mid table squad and hasn’t signed a single player. Madness
I think you're disregarding the fact that Amorim is fairly new to the PL and his tactics are also alien to the opposition. I do think we'll win the 3 home games and the game against Wolves. From the other 3, getting 1 or 2 points would mean 13-14 points which would be decent.

We will plateau under Amorim, but I would expect that to be later in the season, when the physical effects of his style of play hit the players and his tactics are better understood by the opposition.

I think it's a good time for those games, as every team will need to rotate. Best XI vs Best XI we don't stand much chance against Arsenal, City and Liverpool, but everyone will need to rotate heavily.

Arsenal (A) - Loss
Forest (H) - Win
City (A) - Draw
Bournemouth (H) - Win
Wolves (A) - Win
Newcastle (H) - Draw
Liverpool (A) - Loss

11 points IMO.
I'd go with that but with a loss to City = 10pts.

Slim chance of beating Newcastle at home.

I’d probably say avoiding three losses in those tough away games would be a decent result. 13/21 therefore overachieving. 10-12 about par and 9 or less a bit disappointing.

Agree.
